Story
This is autumn a super sweet calico kitty! She is super outgoing and loves to lay and cuddle. She is timid at first like most kitty’s but opens up and is truly a joy to have around. Our baby boy we just had a few months ago is unfortunately allergic and she has been confined to the basement. I want her to be able to roam and get more attention because she’s a super sociable kitty. She would be the perfect fit to any home.

Story
These two beautiful, sweet girls (Mom and daughter) were living in someone's shed along with 2 other siblings. They were being fed and loved but the people could not afford to get them spayed, so we offered to help. All 4 have now been spayed, vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies, flea treated, wormed and tested for v feline leukemia and aids ( both negative). The other 2 have been adopted but Coco and Momma Mary are still available and would love to come home with you! If interested, please fill out our application at castawaycatsde.com Thank you!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Meet Mira! This gorgeous dilute calico girl is only about 7 months old and is such a sweetie. She is very calm and gentle and gets along well with everyone! She enjoys being pet and will push up against you for more love. She is wonderful with the other cats and kittens she is being fostered with as well as the dog. She was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina and found her way to DPR with her siblings (Soda Pop and Zoey - the 3 of them look nothing alike, but they were all brought in together and we were told they are siblings). She's a beautiful girl who will make a great addition to your home!  This cat is spayed, up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations, dewormings, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is on flea/tick preventative and ear mite preventative. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a 'Cat Adoption Application'   at   www.DelawarePetRescue.org/forms       Adoption fee is: $200 Can’t adopt? Consider donating! Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up 'curb side'. Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *     DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:  Initial vet visit Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)Distemper vaccinationSNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart wormBroad spectrum dewormers Monthly flea/tick preventative Ear mite preventative The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 10, 2025, 12:03 pm

Story
Willow is approximately 5 years old and came to live with us when a previous owner in the military had to relocate. Willow was spayed and had her front claws removed before coming to live with us. She can be a cuddly cat but will nip( I hate to say bite because it doesn’t hurt or break skin) because she doesn’t have nails to warn or protect herself. She tends to latch onto a person and identifies them as her person. She does well with children and dogs and previously she was with other cats which she was fine with. There is a behavioral issue regarding litter box usage as she will pee in the litter box with no issue but rarely will poop in one. We have tried to work with her but at this point she is having to be secluded to one room locked away to avoid her pooping all over. She recently had her shots updated and an overall healthy checkup. We are away a lot and she is left home so she may do well with a household that could be present with her more.

Story
Archie and Dahlia have been indoors for years; however, they never quite became social with people. They are adorable and funny, hilarious to watch. They love to play and will even take food from people, but they just don't want to be touched. This may change when they get to a home or barn where there aren't so many other cats. They try to stay out of the way of the other cats. Email today if you'd like to meet these gorgeous and gentle cats. Archie and Dahlia have been neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Story
Zelda is very sweet and loving once she is warmed up to you. We have had her for about a year and she loves sleeping with mom at night. Outside of that and wet food time, she spends most of the day hiding under our bed. She is definitely shy around people and would prefer a quiet home. We believe she needs to be an only cat. She used the litter box with no issues when we first brought her home and kept her in a bedroom for a few of weeks before introducing her to the other cats. After introducing the cats — she started having litter box problems. We tried calming supplements, Prozac, different litters and litter boxes, etc. She consistently goes in the same 2 spots outside the littler boxes. The shelter we adopted her from think she was a barn cat prior to being brought in since she smelled like one. We think it’s a territorial issue and she needs to have her own litter boxes. Which is hard to manage with 4 cats. We can provide 2 litter boxes to adopter.

Update 11.13: Still available. ADOPTABLES! Melody & Harmony are ready for their new forever home! These two PLAYFUL, SASSY jeweled torties are likely related. We aren't certain but Melody MAY be Harmony's mom. Both girls were raised together, but their dad died and the rest of the family left them behind when the bank foreclosed on the property. They did come back to feed them until we took over for them. These girls LOVE string toys. Harmony you may remember from last Nov. as the kitten who got herself stuck high in a tree & we needed to call for help from tree trimmers to get her down for her dad. Both girls are spayed, updated on vaccinations today, combo tested, microchipped and ready for their next adventure!

Story
She's an older cat who was left behind with a younger cat (her daughter?) Harmony, when her people were evicted from their home. They still come back most days to feed them & one of our volunteers stops by each day to play with them & make certain they have food & shelter. But they keep asking to be let back inside the only home they've ever known, not realizing it's owned by a bank now. Melony is affectionate, gets along well with other cats. She will be vetted before being placed. SSTNR can cover food, flea treatments & any necessary medications or vet visits four our fosters.
