Story
What can we say about our sweet, handsome Tiki Boy? SO MUCH! We’ve had this dapper 2 year-old Cane Corso/Dane/Bully mix in rescue for about 8 months now and he is barely recognizable from the dog we saved from the euthanasia list. Tiki was dumped at the shelter, and we don’t think he ever knew life outside of a backyard or that humans could be kind before we took him in. When we met Tiki, he avoided eye contact and human touch, wouldn’t hold his head up, and was scared of every little thing (even the wind). While in foster, he’s been exploring the world and gaining confidence each day, and, most importantly, learning what it means to have the safety and love that he deserves. He has truly blossomed and is showing us more and more each day that he is a super silly and affectionate giant puppy dog. Tiki is best friends with his 130-pound mastiff foster sister and would love a home with another doggy friend to play with! He is respectful and kind with his foster cat sibling too! He is gentle and sweet with his six-year old human foster sister as well, and we think he’d do excellently in a home with older kids. This pup is an active boy and a guardian breed who needs an owner who is committed to meeting his exercise needs (he’s a great running/biking partner!), continuing his socialization, and respecting his boundaries. These dogs may be slow to warm up, but they are incredibly loyal and protective of their pack, and the love they give is truly something special once you have it! Tiki is waiting patiently for his forever family at his foster home in Sacramento and he would love to meet you to see if it’s a match.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:3Teaspoon – The Big-Hearted Mastiff Gal with a Softly Reserved Spirit Meet Teaspoon, a 1-year-old Cane Corso Mastiff girl who brings 107 pounds of charm, goofiness, and tenderness everywhere she goes. She may be large, but her spirit is pure, gentle sweetness. Mild leash puller with good manners: She explores with curiosity, checking in often. She takes treats gently and responds well to ‘sit’ and ‘down’ cues. Affectionate once warmed up: After some independent sniffing, she begins leaning in for pets, nudging for attention, and ultimately flopping over for melt-your-heart belly rubs. Playful and silly: Teaspoon runs after toys, breaks into joyful zoomies, and occasionally adds in a few spectacular, bouncy hops. Engaging and social: Comes when called once she’s comfortable with you, offers sweet face sniffs when you kneel, and becomes increasingly affiliative the longer you’re with her. Teaspoon would thrive with a compatible dog companion or as a solo dog soaking up all the affection.December 4, 2025, 10:30 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:5Acai is a 5-year-old, 106-pound Cane Corso mix with a quiet, thoughtful presence. He was found as a stray and is still getting his bearings in the shelter environment. Volunteers describe him as calm and very polite. Outside, he explores at his own rhythm and checks in for treats, which he takes with impressive gentleness for such a large dog. As he's started to settle, staff have noticed him engaging more with the people he knows. When meeting other dogs at the shelter, Acai remained relaxed and friendly, greeting with soft body language and choosing a calm, low-key interaction. Acai will do best with an adopter who has experience with large guardian breeds and can give him the patient, low-pressure environment he needs to continue building confidence. With time and understanding, he's the type of dog who may form a deep bond and enjoy a peaceful home where he can feel secure.  Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet Acai.
