Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:3Teaspoon – The Big-Hearted Mastiff Gal with a Softly Reserved Spirit Meet Teaspoon, a 1-year-old Cane Corso Mastiff girl who brings 107 pounds of charm, goofiness, and tenderness everywhere she goes. She may be large, but her spirit is pure, gentle sweetness. Mild leash puller with good manners: She explores with curiosity, checking in often. She takes treats gently and responds well to ‘sit’ and ‘down’ cues. Affectionate once warmed up: After some independent sniffing, she begins leaning in for pets, nudging for attention, and ultimately flopping over for melt-your-heart belly rubs. Playful and silly: Teaspoon runs after toys, breaks into joyful zoomies, and occasionally adds in a few spectacular, bouncy hops. Engaging and social: Comes when called once she’s comfortable with you, offers sweet face sniffs when you kneel, and becomes increasingly affiliative the longer you’re with her. Teaspoon would thrive with a compatible dog companion or as a solo dog soaking up all the affection.December 4, 2025, 10:30 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:5Acai is a 5-year-old, 106-pound Cane Corso mix with a quiet, thoughtful presence. He was found as a stray and is still getting his bearings in the shelter environment. Volunteers describe him as calm and very polite. Outside, he explores at his own rhythm and checks in for treats, which he takes with impressive gentleness for such a large dog. As he's started to settle, staff have noticed him engaging more with the people he knows. When meeting other dogs at the shelter, Acai remained relaxed and friendly, greeting with soft body language and choosing a calm, low-key interaction. Acai will do best with an adopter who has experience with large guardian breeds and can give him the patient, low-pressure environment he needs to continue building confidence. With time and understanding, he's the type of dog who may form a deep bond and enjoy a peaceful home where he can feel secure.  Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet Acai. Story
Meet Murdock: Your Future Gentle Giant and Loyal Companion Are you searching for a big-hearted, extra-large friend with a soft, wrinkly face and an even softer personality? Murdock, a 7-year-old Cane Corso mix tipping the scales at around 120 pounds, is ready to bring his gentle, goofy spirit into your home! A Day in the Life of Murdock Murdock’s favorite activities include “supervising” his people, basking in the sun, enjoying tasty treats (he’s a fan of both fruits and veggies!), and going for walks. He still has a playful, puppy-like energy and loves to romp around. He’s a sensitive soul, deeply attuned to his humans and eager to please, which makes training both fun and rewarding for everyone involved. Well-Mannered and Eager to Learn Murdock is housetrained, uses a dog door, and has earned full house privileges thanks to his excellent manners when left alone. He’s never mistaken human belongings for toys and is very food-motivated, making him a quick study—he already knows commands like “sit”, “shake”, “down”, “up”, “stay”, “wait”, “off”, “leave it”, “drop it”, “touch”, “settle”, and “heel”. He’ll even wait patiently with a treat on his paws until you give the ok! Active and Handsome Murdock enjoys about an hour of enrichment each day, including daily 2-mile walks up and down San Francisco’s hills. He’s never failed to turn heads—people can’t help but stop and admire his striking looks. Social and Playful, With a Big Personality While Murdock has made many new human friends, he does best with calm, thoughtful introductions due to his exuberant play style. He’s had a blast with a large female dog, showing he can be a great companion for other big dogs after slow, proper introductions. Murdock loves to play rough but is respectful when his playmates need a break. A Loyal Guardian True to his mastiff roots, Murdock is loyal and protective. In high-energy or new situations, he can get excited or nervous, sometimes expressing this with jumping, nibbling or biting. His foster family is helping him learn better ways to channel his excitement, and he’s been muzzle-trained to ensure that new introductions are safe and stress-free for everyone. Looking for His Perfect Match Because of his size and strength, Murdock is best suited for an adult-only home with experience handling large breeds. He’ll thrive with adopters who are committed to continuing his positive training and providing the structure he needs to be his best self. If you’re ready to welcome a loving, loyal, and truly unforgettable companion into your life, Murdock would love to meet you. Fill out an application today, and a volunteer will be in touch to help you get to know this wonderful “hunk of love”! (HD)

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:6Alpaca is a 2 year old, extra large Cane Corso mix, whose heart seems to match his size. Volunteers describe him as "super sweet and silly" and "really sweet, gentle boy," the kind of dog who leans his whole body in and happily soaks up every bit of affection. He loves to "drape himself across my legs" and rest his big head in your hands while his little nub wags nonstop. He has some basic training, takes treats gently, and walks nicely on leash for a dog his size. Alpaca can be unsure with new people at first, so he will do best with an experienced, breed-savvy adopter who can give him clear guidance, continued positive reinforcement training, and a calm, steady home. With the right person, this big, sensitive boy is ready to be an incredibly loving companion. Alpaca will do well in a home with other well-matched dogs or happily as the only dog with social opportunities.December 4, 2025, 11:14 pm
