I met Annie through a devoted volunteer at the Lancaster Animal Shelter, who fought for her because of her gentle, calm, and loving nature. Sadly, because of Annie’s size (64 lbs) and a URI, adoption was unlikely. On the day she was scheduled to be euthanized, I watched her receive what was to be her last meal, a cheeseburger. Something in me couldn’t let that happen, and I made an impulsive but heartfelt decision to rescue her. Unfortunately, with two dogs in our home already, one very territorial, my intent was always to find Annie an amazing home. She deserves a loving home where she can thrive. She’s friendly with our senior smaller dachshund-beagle mix and asks for so little: a few walks, a full belly including belly rubs, and endless affection. She would probably do best in an adult home (teenagers OK) where someone is home regularly. Please meet this oh so special girl, Annie.

A spirited two-year-old Great Dane/Cane Corso mix currently living in Oakland, CA, whose essence is a whirlwind of affection, athleticism, and oversized puppy charm wrapped in a sleek black coat with stylish white accents. Storm is what happens when gentle giant meets high-octane adventurer! He’s already tipping the scales at around 140 pounds of love and energy, with big, soulful brown eyes that melt hearts and a signature move where he gently places a paw on your lap to ask for attention. This boy isn’t just affectionate, he thrives on connection and is happiest when he’s running full speed after a ball, exploring a new trail, or showing off his ever-growing list of training cues (he’s already mastered sit, stay, wait, free, bed, and quiet!). Storm is still learning the ropes, but he’s off to a strong start. He’s crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and currently attending positive-reinforcement training sessions (10 total!). His leash reactivity, barking or lunging at unfamiliar dogs, is a work in progress but he’s proving himself to be a quick learner with treat-based redirection. With familiar dogs and slow introductions, Storm can settle in well, making him a great candidate for a home where structure and patience are part of daily life. Because of his size, energy, and training needs, Storm’s ideal family would have experience with large breeds and an active lifestyle. A fenced yard is a must, but even more important is a guardian who won’t leave this adventurer behind. Storm is not a good match for cats or homes with small children, but he could thrive with older kids and adults who understand the joy, and the responsibility, of a giant, playful pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She came to us as a stray from Hawthorne, but you’d never know it — she’s loving, loyal, and eager to bond with her people. Still very much a puppy, Lainey is playful, smart, and ready to learn. With structure and guidance, she will grow into an incredible, devoted companion. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready for a forever home that understands and appreciates her amazing breed. Big dog. Big heart. Endless potential. We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. A spirited almost two-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix currently in Santee, CA, whose essence is a beautiful blend of loyalty, playfulness, and gentle strength, wrapped in a beige and tan coat with striking black ears and a noble black muzzle. Titus is the kind of companion who brings warmth and comfort just by being near. Affectionate and deeply connected to those around him, he’s played an important role in helping a family member through tough times and now he’s ready to find a new loving home where he can thrive both physically and emotionally. At around 84 pounds, Titus is a large pup with an even bigger heart! He's playful, enjoys affection, and thrives on companionship, whether it’s human or canine. This outdoorsy guy is happiest when he’s out exploring. Whether it's a long hike, a walk through the neighborhood, or romping at the dog park, Titus embraces it all with enthusiasm! He’s a big fan of squeaky toys and balls, and he especially enjoys the social scene at doggie daycare. He’s shown no signs of guarding or food aggression and gets along well with other dogs, often delighting in the opportunity to play. Titus would not do well in a home with cats or other small animals, such as birds or chickens. Though he's not lived with children, he’s always friendly when meeting new people and loves gentle pets from curious little hands. Titus is leash trained, house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He knows basic commands like sit, down, stay, come, mine, and release. When left alone for short periods, he mostly snoozes peacefully. He’s sensitive to raised voices and the occasional scary animal on TV, so a calm, caring environment will help him feel secure. Titus would do best with guardians experienced with large breeds, especially those familiar with livestock guardian types. A fenced yard is a must for his zoomies and sunbathing sessions, and a canine playmate would be the cherry on top of his perfect day!
