Story
Dakota Jones is a silly and sweet gentle giant who absolutely loves affection and being social! She is playful and loves humans of all ages. According to her foster, her favorite things include belly rubs, tennis balls, and treats. She is house trained, good on leash, and can be safely left home alone. Dakota will need to be the only animal in the home as she can sometimes be reactive to other dogs on leash and can be a strong puller when she sees cats, but her goofy ways will be all you need! She is very playful, likes to play fetch and sometimes gets zoomies and likes to chase you around the home. She plays hide and seek with her foster and will even chase lights similar to a cat playing with a laser pointer. Inquire about this funny senior lady today!June 1, 2023, 7:05 pm

Story
Astrid was originally found wandering stray here in Burbank. Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at 125 healthy pounds. She would not make a good first time dog because of her size, she needs someone with lots of large or extra large dog breed experience in order for her to thrive in her forever home. Anatolian Shepherds are not recommended for apartment life. They are relatively inactive indoors and will do best with at least a large yard. Fencing should be 6 feet tall at least so she cannot jump over her fence. Her future owner will have to continue working with her on socialization with other people to make sure she is an upstanding citizen for her size and breed. Though Astrid is 2 years old, she still acts like a puppy at times and doesn`t know how large she is. She loves to sit on your lap and thinks she is a lap dog! An ADULT ONLY HOME is required. Astrid will need basic obedience, potty training and leash training as most shelter and rescue dogs do. Astrid has been introduced to other dogs, however she has shown she cannot be trusted around other dogs. She has also been adopted out once before and then returned less than 24 hours later for not getting along with the other dogs in the household. Astrid is an awesome gentle giant and a staff favorite here at the shelter however cannot go to a home with other animals. NO OTHER ANIMALS IS A MUST!

Story
Kona has been great with our family for the past 4 years, however she is an aggressive breed and has some major anxiety issues. She is very protective of the owner and the owner's home. She will show aggressive behavior when other people or dogs are around the home. In light of this, we have enrolled in 1 on 1 advanced training in order to help the owner know how to handle her in triggering situations. In contrast, she is able to cohabit the play area where we take her for boarding and has no issues with aggression there. This is the one place where she feels comfortable enough to not be protective, and to play with other dogs and people. After a minor but concerning protective incident, we are making the difficult decision to look for a home that will give Kona the leadership and understanding that she needs as a protective breed, as well as the space to be able be independent, and encouraged to find an appropriate role in the family "pack."

United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals.  This pet is part of our Shelter Support Program at the Baldwin Park Shelter. For more information about the pet, the adoption process, or our program please contact the Volunteer Adoption Coordinator listed below. Because animals are adopted/rescued daily, please also check the United Hope for Animals Facebook page to see if an animal is still available OR call the Baldwin Park Shelter at 626-962-3577. When inquiring about an animal, please reference the animal’s ID number. This will enable the volunteer or Baldwin Park employee to locate the status of the pet. Thank you for supporting rescue. Pet Information #A5523398 Mando is a bashful 7 month old brown and white neutered male Anatolian Shepherd mix puppy who was surrendered by his owner to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on May 4. Weighing 41 lbs, Mando is curious about his surroundings and other dogs, but a little shy in his kennel and the yard. He walks very well on leash and shows signs of housebreaking. Cooperative and sweet, Mando is a young guy who hasn’t seen much of the world yet and finds it a little intimidating. With some training and encouragement, maybe a group class to build his confidence, Mando is likely to grow into a confident fun loving dog. We think he might get a bit bigger as he grows into his feet.     MANDO’S VIDEO: https://youtu.be/KkH0mfkmMig For more information on this pet, contact volunteer UHA Adoption Coordinator Lor at  lor@unitedhopeforanimals.org  May 30, 2023, 4:03 pm

Story
Hi there, I’m Finn! I’m a new kid here at Paws For Life and the staff at the People and Pet Innovation Center are just getting to know me. I am a sweet and social pup that loves to meet new people and am ready to find a forever home full of love. I am eligible for 6 weeks of free training in the Prison Training Program after adoption, which will help me with crate training, basic commands and my loose leash walking skills! If you are interested in meeting me or my other friends here at PFL, please come visit us at the People and Pet Innovation Center Tuesday through Sunday from 11-5, or at our Saturday adoption events! Check back soon for additional information about me as the staff get to know me a little better!!

These pups are in Los Angeles, California too!

Story
Goofy boy Zuko is sure to put a smile on your face! Now that he's had time to settle into the routine in sunny Los Angeles, he's really letting his personality shine through. Zuko loves playing! Toys, bubbles, hoses, pools, you name it. This big guy is strong and can be reactive to other dogs on leash; he would do best in a home without children or other animals so that he can soak up all of your attention. He can be very affectionate and likes to lean on you for petting and scratches, though he may need some time to warm up and work through his anxiety. Zuko also knows some basic commands like sit, down, wait, stay and place. Interested in meeting Zuko? Email adoptla@bestfriends.org to get started!June 1, 2023, 9:20 pm

Story
Lucy found and chose me to get her off the streets of Mexico. She’s the sweetest and most intelligent dog I’ve ever owned. We’ve done all the basic leash training, and have moved on to off leash training. She is capable of agility, special needs, military, law enforcement or guard dog services and needs a job that I cannot give her. Because she is under stimulated and very protective, she’s been a bit standoff-ish and has been aggressive (when on leash) toward strangers that approach me too quickly on the street. Honestly, not a bad thing at all, but just something to be aware of. If you don’t have the time to work with Lucy and make her feel useful and stimulated mentally, please pass and let someone who needs her find her. She’s truly an incredible dog and deserves a home with an active lifestyle and lots of time to interact. Thank you!
