Story
Apollo is a 2 1/2 year-old boy. He is very friendly very energetic. Adapt to routine and training very well. He knows many basic commands such as sit , stay ,go to your bed, etc. He is crate trained, but currently does not have a crate. He is a jumper, and likes to play with everyone. Although he is home trained, he will need to be any consistent routine, once that is thrown off is when he may start to go in the house, but tends to adapt back to it very quickly. He is neutered. When I got him, I was told he was a cane. Corso mixed with a pitbull. I do not believe this is true, but never had a DNA test to confirm.

Iceland has been here before. She was reclaimed by her owner, only to find herself back at the shelter again. This time it doesn’t seem like anyone is coming for her. And that’s hard to understand when you meet her. Iceland is beautiful yes. But it’s her personality that really won us over. She’s only 2 years old, has good manners, and knows how to make the most of her time outside. She’s perfectly happy entertaining herself but always makes time to come check in with her people too. She has the cutest little underbite and while the video only caught one dramatic run-and-flop moment, we counted five total. Iceland is goofy, sweet, easy to love, and a very good girl. All the reasons dogs end up here are hard. We just hope Iceland’s next home is the one that loves her forever and keeps her safe.🤍 Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog. Looking for a loving forever home for my sweet girl, MarLei Giselle aka MarLei G. 🐾🤎 MarLei is an 8-year-old Cane Corso mix with the biggest heart. She is loving, loyal, cuddly, protective, and very family-oriented. She absolutely loves kids, treats, walks, long car rides with her head out the window, and being close to her people. She has never bitten or attacked anyone. She would do best as the only dog or with very careful introductions. She knows leave it, sit, stay, free, cage, and go home. She is crate trained and house trained with a consistent routine. MarLei needs a loving but firm owner who understands large breeds and can continue helping her with leash manners. She does best with a martingale collar and harness. She is up to date on vaccinations and receives Cytopoint injections every 3 months for allergies. I’m willing to travel for the right home. Ruby is a six year old American Pitbull Terrier/Cain Corso mix from a hoarding case where she endured physical abuse and many hungry nights. We suspect that Ruby was born and raised in that environment and has never received exposure to the outside world. Due to this, it takes Ruby some time to warm up to you.Once she does, she is an in your pocket type of pup! A wonderful sponsor is willing to cover my adoption cost of $225.00 so I can be adopted and enjoy being someone's best friend! All adopters must be vetted and approved to adopt from FOCCAS.Ruby has a way of making you feel wanted, when she greets you with a wagging nub and sweet face after a long day! She is very quiet and doesn't mind other dogs but would do best with a Male. She likes long walks and is doing well with leash training, and knows sit,down, touch and shake already! She does excellent when her foster mom bathes her and clips her nails, and is very patient.She is sweet and gentle until something scares her, then she jumps. She's good on a leash until something startles her, then she pulls.... And she's strong. She's a beautiful girl. Loving and gentle, loves attention but hates excitement. She's not a guard dog, she'll hide behind you in the threat of great danger, or if a butterfly scares her. Quiet, soft, and sweet Ruby, she wants to be right at your feet.
