Meet Bella! 🐾 Bella is a beautiful young Cane Corso who is around a year old and full of life! This playful girl has a big personality, a big heart, and even bigger hugs to share. She absolutely loves attention and will gladly shower her favorite people with slobbery kisses and affection. Bella is still young and has lots of energy, so she’ll thrive with a family that can give her plenty of playtime, exercise, and love. Because she gets very excited and eager to play, she does best with larger dogs who can match her energy and will need slow, proper introductions to make new canine friends. Bella is a little too interested in cats and small dogs, so she is looking for a home without them. With the right match, patience, and guidance, this sweet, goofy girl will make a loyal and loving companion. Iceland has been here before. She was reclaimed by her owner, only to find herself back at the shelter again. This time it doesn’t seem like anyone is coming for her. And that’s hard to understand when you meet her. Iceland is beautiful yes. But it’s her personality that really won us over. She’s only 2 years old, has good manners, and knows how to make the most of her time outside. She’s perfectly happy entertaining herself but always makes time to come check in with her people too. She has the cutest little underbite and while the video only caught one dramatic run-and-flop moment, we counted five total. Iceland is goofy, sweet, easy to love, and a very good girl. All the reasons dogs end up here are hard. We just hope Iceland’s next home is the one that loves her forever and keeps her safe.🤍 Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog. Big Fella is a gentle giant who wants nothing more than a life full of cookies. When he joined us here at ACL, this handsome dude was scared of everything and everyone, but with some TLC has become a very brave boy! He has been making friends at an incredible rate, though his treat taxes are very demanding! If your home is missing some large paws, sweet eyes, and a tolerable amount of slobber, come meet Big Fella today! Weight: 70 lbs and gaining! He was very skinny when he came in, and we are helping him put on some weight until he is healthy! Spayed/Neutered: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Housebroken: Somewhat! It is hard to tell in the shelter, but he does very well with a schedule! Crate-trained: Unsure, he has not been crated while in our care. Leash behavior: Good! He is a great walker, and we are working on even more leash skills with him! Dog sociability: Big Fella does well with dogs! He is still a little shy so prefers dog buddies that will just chill with him and share all the good sniffs in the yard. Cat sociability: Unknown, Big Fella has not yet been cat tested, or lived with cats in a foster home. Kid sociability: Unknown, Big Fella has not met children while in our care. Ghost is 5 years old and a Cane Corso mix. Ghost is a very good boy. Despite his large size he is a giant baby and has severe issues with animal reactivity and often very scared of other dogs. He is house broken and likes to think of himself as a lap dog. He is crate trained but sometimes will bark inside the crate but will quiet up. I just want Ghost to go to a loving home where he can get all the attention in the world because he deserves it.
