Story
Good With Kids: Yes, 8 and up. Good With Other Dogs: Yes Good With Cats: Tested, but has not lived with cats. Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes House Manners: Good Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes, Tess is an easy walker Knows Basic Commands: Sit Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High):Couch Potato to Moderate Special Needs: None Physical Fence: Preferred / No Invisible Fences Nickname: Dutchess Favorite game: Fetch Arrival story: Spent a long stint at the Saginaw County Animal Shelter. Approximate age / Weight: 10-years-old and 66 lbs. Personality: The Duchess has arrived. The Duchess of Waggin’ Tails that is! Ruler of the foster dog kingdom or errr… her foster home. Tess is a spunky lady, who loves to snuggle, go for walks, play with her tiny toys and zoomie around the yard. Queen Tess is a pretty easy-going lady and loves to just hang out with her people on her throne (couch) after taking you on a parade around her kingdom (neighborhood). She knows sit, and has more of a refined palate and leans into being more of a meat and potato type of girl. Tess is kind to all her subjects (cat and dog-tested). She is nervous around new people, so a slow introduction with lots of treats is the way to this queen’s heart. New Home: She likes to hang out with her people and is a great daily walking buddy. Would be happy living with other animals, but would also be happy to eat up all the attention she truly deserve as the only Queen in your home. Are you willing to roll out the red carpet for her? Contact: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. ADOPTION INFO: We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website for the date and time of the next adoption event. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Slim – the Sweetest Survivor  Please note: The second photo is a BEFORE picture—Slim is healthy and thriving now!  From the streets of Detroit to a journey of healing, Slim has been through more than most—but you’d never know it by the way his tail wags. This stunning Cane Corso came to us severely emaciated, weighing under 40 pounds when he should have been closer to 100. But Slim didn’t let that hardship define him. Despite everything, all he knows is love. Slim is a true gentle giant in the making. He adores other dogs—yes, even the tiny 20-pounders—and plays with them like he’s one of the pack. He’s goofy, affectionate, and loves rolling around on his back with his favorite toys. If there’s attention to be had, Slim is all in! He’s still gaining weight and working toward his healthy goal of around 100 pounds, but he’s well on his way and doing great. His spirit is strong, his belly is full, and his heart is even fuller. &#226&#156&#133 Good with dogs &#226&#156&#133 Kid-friendly (ages 10+ recommended due to his size) &#226&#156&#133 Toy enthusiast and belly-rub champion &#226&#156&#133 Ready to find his forever home Please note: The second photo is a BEFORE picture—Slim is healthy and thriving now! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Gia 2.5-year-old Cane Corso | Female | All-Black Beauty Gia's story is one of quiet resilience. This stunning Cane Corso girl was recently rescued from the shelter (DACC), thanks to a big push from our rescue team who just knew she deserved a second chance. At 2 ½ years old, Gia is still coming out of her shell and learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. Whatever she went through before, it left her a little reserved—but not broken. Every day, Gia shows us more of her sweet, calm spirit. She’s incredibly relaxed and easy to be around. She feels most comfortable with women and bonds quickly with them. Men might need to go a bit slower—she’s shy at first—but with a little patience and kindness, she warms up and lets her guard down. Gia isn’t the kind of dog who demands the spotlight. She’s the quiet type, happiest when she can just be near someone she trusts. Whether it's lounging at your feet or giving you those soft, soulful eyes from across the room, Gia's presence is grounding. She’s still decompressing from her time in the shelter and would thrive in a calm, stable environment with people who understand that healing takes time. Looking for: A patient, loving home (female-led or understanding of her sensitivities around men), ideally quiet and predictable. Gia is a gentle soul who just wants to feel safe and loved. If you're looking for a low-key, loyal companion who just needs a little time to show you her full heart, Gia might be your girl.
