This stunning Cane Corso came to us severely emaciated, weighing under 40 pounds when he should have been closer to 100. But Slim didn’t let that hardship define him. Despite everything, all he knows is love. Slim is a true gentle giant in the making. He adores other dogs—yes, even the tiny 20-pounders—and plays with them like he’s one of the pack. He’s goofy, affectionate, and loves rolling around on his back with his favorite toys. If there’s attention to be had, Slim is all in! He’s still gaining weight and working toward his healthy goal of around 100 pounds, but he’s well on his way and doing great. His spirit is strong, his belly is full, and his heart is even fuller. &#226&#156&#133 Good with dogs &#226&#156&#133 Kid-friendly (ages 10+ recommended due to his size) &#226&#156&#133 Toy enthusiast and belly-rub champion &#226&#156&#133 Ready to find his forever home Please note: The second photo is a BEFORE picture—Slim is healthy and thriving now! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Foster mom update! If you love a dog with depth, heart, and a great comeback story, Squid might just be your guy.  Squid is a big personality in a wiggly, expressive body, and living with him is never boring. He is smart, sensitive, and very eager to please. The best way to describe him is a dog who feels things deeply and tries really hard to make his humans happy. He bonds closely with his people and is deeply loyal. He has a very sweet and affectionate side, and he loves being near his humans, whether that is hanging out at home or working on training together. Structure, clear expectations, and routine help him feel confident, and he really shines when he knows what the plan is. He enjoys learning and would do best with an adopter who will keep expanding on the skills he has. Continued guidance and consistency will keep him on the path to be the balanced dog he is becoming. Squid is looking for a patient home that appreciates a smart, sweet dog and is committed to providing leadership, routine, and kindness. He is not the right fit for someone looking for an easy, low effort dog, but for the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion; he has proven so in his foster home.  He is dog friendly and does well with both big and small dogs. He is housetrained. He also has a fun, playful side and absolutely loves fetch. Toss a ball and you will see this track star light up the yard. He would also be a great running buddy.  Meet Squid! Squid is a one-year-old (DOB december 2024) Cane Corso mix with a giant heart and an even bigger need to be close to his people. This sweet boy loves humans so much that he prefers to be right by your side—personal space optional! Squid didn’t get the attention or training he deserved as a puppy, so he’s still learning how to be his best self. With patience, structure, and love, he has so much potential. He’d thrive in a home with a calm male or female dog who can help show him the ropes and boost his confidence. Squid is looking for a stable, understanding home that sees not what he missed—but who he can become. If you’re ready to help this loving boy grow, Squid is ready to give you his whole heart.  Apply at busterdogs.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 27, 2026, 5:08 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cyrax is a gentle two-year-old (born around april 2024) Mastiff mix with a quiet soul and a story of resilience. Rescued from animal control, he’s just beginning to discover what it means to be a dog—learning about trust, comfort, and the simple joys of everyday life. Because so much of the world is still new to him, Cyrax can be shy at first and may need a little extra time to feel safe in unfamiliar situations. With patience and understanding, his sweet nature starts to shine through. Cyrax would thrive with an experienced owner who understands Mastiffs and can provide the calm, steady support he needs as he builds confidence. A relaxed, well-adjusted female dog companion would be a wonderful influence, helping show him the ropes and encouraging him to come out of his shell. Cyrax is looking for a peaceful home where he can continue his journey at his own pace—with someone who sees the special dog he already is and the incredible companion he’s becoming. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Gia 2.5-year-old Cane Corso | Female | All-Black Beauty Gia's story is one of quiet resilience. This stunning Cane Corso girl was recently rescued from the shelter (DACC), thanks to a big push from our rescue team who just knew she deserved a second chance. At 2 ½ years old, Gia is still coming out of her shell and learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. Whatever she went through before, it left her a little reserved—but not broken. Every day, Gia shows us more of her sweet, calm spirit. She’s incredibly relaxed and easy to be around. She feels most comfortable with women and bonds quickly with them. Men might need to go a bit slower—she’s shy at first—but with a little patience and kindness, she warms up and lets her guard down. Gia isn’t the kind of dog who demands the spotlight. She’s the quiet type, happiest when she can just be near someone she trusts. Whether it's lounging at your feet or giving you those soft, soulful eyes from across the room, Gia's presence is grounding. She’s still decompressing from her time in the shelter and would thrive in a calm, stable environment with people who understand that healing takes time. Looking for: A patient, loving home (female-led or understanding of her sensitivities around men), ideally quiet and predictable. Gia is a gentle soul who just wants to feel safe and loved. If you're looking for a low-key, loyal companion who just needs a little time to show you her full heart, Gia might be your girl. She’s a gentle girl with an old soul who finds joy in life’s simple moments. Sniffy walks, warm sunshine, and carrying her favorite stuffies like little treasures. Magnolia is low energy, house trained, and happiest in a peaceful home where she can fully relax, feel safe, and bloom at her own pace. 🌼 Why Magnolia is Pure Gold • Gentle, affectionate, and quiet • Great with respectful dogs and cats • Loves calm kids and kind humans • Excellent in the car and easygoing at home • Enjoys leisurely walks, outdoor exploring, and cozy lounging • Dog selective, but polite and social with the right matches • Thriving with her foster brother Wyatt—she truly blossoms with a canine companion by her side Having another friendly dog helps Magnolia feel more confident, safe, and engaged in her environment. 🌿 Care Note Magnolia has a small, manageable medical need—she may experience minor leaking after her morning potty break. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Bruno: A Sensitive Giant with a Huge Heart! Bruno is a gorgeous Cane Corso who is just as smart as he is sweet. A true gentle giant, he is an incredibly intelligent, sensitive, and goofy boy who lives for three simple things: delicious food, playful energy, and—most importantly—cuddles (and then maybe some more cuddles). While he is a big boy, he has a tender soul. Bruno doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body, but he can get startled easily and his first instinct is to run and hide when scared. Because of this, he needs a confident, patient handler who can show him the world is a safe place. He is an incredibly fast learner who thrives on positive reinforcement and clear, loving structure. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate shadow who will make you laugh daily, Bruno is your guy!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. July 23, 2026, 1:45 pm
