Story
Meet SchoonerSchooner is a handsome neutered male who's looking for a patient, understanding family to help him feel safe and loved. This gentle boy is currently waiting for a dental procedure, but that doesn't stop him from dreaming about the perfect forever home.Schooner came from an overpopulated property and arrived at the shelter in need of medical care. He is under-socialized but making amazing progress thanks to calm, consistent, and kind interactions. He is a sweet soul who truly wants to learn how to trust humans. Shy by nature, Schooner takes his time getting comfortable in new places and with new people. Once he feels secure, his sweet personality begins to shine through.Because he gains confidence from other cats, Schooner must go to a home with a calm, confident feline friend who can show him the ropes and help him settle in.Schooner will thrive in a quiet, predictable home with adopters willing to give him the time and space he needs to blossom. If you have a kind heart, a steady routine, and a friendly cat who's ready to be a mentor, Schooner may be the perfect match. Primary Color: Grey Weight: 3.93 Age: 1yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Chesterman is a 2-year-old cat who has been through a lot and is still learning to trust people. He came from an overpopulated property and will soon be undergoing dental surgery to help him feel his best. After everything he's faced, he's ready for the next chapter: a home where he can feel safe and respected.Chesterman is an undersocialized cat, which means he needs time, patience, and a calm environment to thrive. He prefers having his space respected and responds best to positive associations, especially with food. While he may never be a full-on snuggle cat, he has shown heartwarming progress with staff and volunteers who've taken the time to earn his trust - leaning into gentle neck scratches when he feels comfortable.Chesterman also enjoys the company of other cats. Having feline friends helps him feel secure and confident, so a home with another calm, friendly cat would be ideal. He is looking for an adopter who truly understands that building a bond with him will take commitment and compassion. If you're willing to give him the time he needs, you'll be helping a sweet soul feel safe and loved.Could you be the one to give Chesterman the understanding home he deserves?https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Orange Secondary Color: White Weight: 5.63 Age: 2yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Say hello to Gobber, a gentle soul with a heart of gold-perfectly named after the steadfast blacksmith from How to Train Your Dragon. Just like his namesake, Gobber may seem a bit reserved at first, but beneath that cautious exterior lies a warm, loyal companion who's ready to share a lifetime of love.Gobber takes a little extra time to get comfortable in new environments, but once he trusts you, he blossoms into the sweetest companion. He'll show his affection with slow blinks, soft purrs, and his signature move-rolling onto his side for gentle pets and reassurance. Watching his confidence grow is a heartwarming experience, and he'll reward your patience tenfold. When he is happy, Gobber is a drooly boy! Because of his shy nature, Gobber will do best in a quiet home where he can properly decompress and adjust at his own pace. Gobber would do best as an indoor-only cat, where he can enjoy a safe, cozy environment. He'd also love to have a feline friend by his side-another cat to play with, snuggle, and share his new life's adventures. Primary Color: Orange Secondary Color: White Weight: 5.5 Age: 3yrs 0mths 3wks

Story
IN FOSTER - NOT IN CENTRE. PLEASE READ THEIR BIO. Meet Frito and Ritz! These kittens were rescued from a barn and were initially very shy and scared of human interaction. They have been in foster care for the past three weeks and have transformed into the friendliest little beans!Frito is your stereotypical, friendly orange cat. He has a silent mew and likes to silently scream for pets and attention. He follows his foster family around and rolls around on the ground constantly. He loves to watch TV and recieve full body pets when he's not running around playing with his sister. He is a purr machine and looooves to be pet. Frito is very chill and has moderate energy.Ritz is a very sweet and social little lady. She adores the bath mat and can always been found rolling around on a cozy mat. She loves to rub up against her foster family's legs and has a very loud purr. She zooms around with her brother throughout the day and then enjoys full body pets and snuggles. Ritz is fairly mellow and has moderate energy. These two kittens are bonded and would love to find a home together! They would thrive in a indoor-only home setting as the only pets. They will likely take a few days to warm up to a new setting and would do best in a contained area to start off in.Ritz and Frito were brought into the shelter with an upper respiratory infection known as calicivirus. While they have since recovered, this virus stays with cats for life and can sometimes cause flare ups (similar to a human cold). This virus is only contagious to other cats which is why they should be the only kitties in the home. These two are looking for a foster-to-adopt home in Nanaimo region while they await their spay and neuter appointments. Apply to adopt today! Primary Color: Buff Tiger Weight: 0.925 Age: 0yrs 0mths 11wks
