Story
This young male cat showed up to my place of business on a very cold and dreary day. His eyes were matted shut and his breathing loud and raspy. He was taken to a veterinarian who diagnosed him with dual eye infections, a respiratory infection and suspected trauma to his hindquarters due to his walking gait being odd. The veterinarian said he was also low weight (5#) and suspected he was 6-12 months old. He is not fixed at present. We treated him with antibiotics and isolated him from our domestic cat as instructed. His appetite rallied, his infections cleared, and he is feeling much better. He does have impaired use of one of his back legs - it doesn't seem to slow him down much, though, nor does it ruin his spirit. He is extremely affectionate, even playful with toys and scratching posts -- he is a wonderful soul that needs a good home, love and attention.

Story
Omni is a very active panther girl who showed up on my moms front porch looking for food. We fed, watered and gave her shelter. She ruled the front porch. We got her fixed, and got her shots. She was friendly but wary of being picked up. Mom decided to let her inside. She took to the litter box easily. We have worked at getting her socialized. She will follow us around the house. And will roll on her back when feeling affectionate. She has beautiful gold/orange eyes. She will need a little more work on her social skills. We are rehoming her because mom passed away and none of us have room to take her in. We are looking someone wanting an in-door only cat. An experienced pet owner is preferred, but not set in stone. With a little patience, she will be a very loving companion. She slept with mom at night during her last days with us.

Story
This is Callie. She became homeless with her 8 kittens when her owner died and the family moved and her. We started giving them food and water. They were semi-feral, but would allow pets while eating. We got them all fixed and set to finding her and the kittens homes. My mother decided to adopt Callie and one female kitten named Betty Sue who is also up for adoption since my mother has passed away. Callie was brought inside during a severe cold spell. And within two weeks decided indoor life is for her. She regularly slept with my sister, kissing her and sleeping on her pillow. She will also sit with us. She plays with the other cats, and loves dinner time and treats. We are rehoming her because the rest of the family cannot take her in. She is a really sweet girl. We are hoping to rehome her with her daughter Betty Sue. Who is also listed for adoption.

Story
This is Betty Sue. Her momma had her in a window well at my mom house. She belonged with her mom and 7 siblings to a next door neighbor, living mostly outside. The neighbor passed away and the family was abandoned. They started coming to mom’s house for food and water. We rescued them and set about finding them homes. Betty Sue would sit and look in the back porch window. Mom decided to adopt her and her momma Callie. She is a sweet girl but nervous around strangers. She would come sit with my mother. She likes belly scratches. She likes playing with the other cats. Has a tendency to get the zoomies. Does well with a litter box. Loves her food and snacks. We are rehoming this sweet girl because my mother has very recently passed away, and we have no room to take her. She is an inside cat now. She needs someone who will be patient with her while she gets used to a new home. We would love to see her adopted with her momma Callie. Also listed here

Story
Hello, I'm Cheese! I may be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to you, I'm the sweetest kitten you'll ever meet. I love playing with wand toys, it's my favorite game! I'm a friendly little guy, always ready for a cuddle and a play session. I'm also quite the flopper. I'll roll around, showing my goofy side, and make you laugh. I’ll flop when I want some pets or to play, flop off the bed, cat tower, etc. You'll find that I'm not just a cat, but a companion who'll brighten your days with my playful antics and sweet purrs. Why should you adopt me? Well, everyone needs a friend who can make them smile, and I'm pretty good at that. Plus, I promise to be the best listener you've ever met. So, how about it? Let's be friends forever! To meet me, fill out an application at waalrescue.org/adopt.
