Momma is an approximately 9-year-old calico with a sweet heart, a sassy attitude, and a personality that proves you can be both a cuddle bug and a queen who knows exactly what she wants! Her favorite things: Snuggling with her favorite human, soaking up affection, and being the center of attention. She loves to cuddle and will happily remind you that you are, in fact, her person. Her not-so-favorite things: Other animals. Dogs? No, thank you. Other cats? Absolutely not. Momma believes in a peaceful home, and in her opinion, the best way to achieve that is to be the only pet in the palace! As much as we love her, living with other animals just isn't fair to Momma. She deserves a home where she can relax, feel safe, and enjoy all the love and attention she craves without having to share her space with furry roommates she didn't approve of.

Briar Rose's Story Beautiful Briar Rose is looking for a new home! This much-loved kitty is back with us after being adopted as a kitten. Her person had a bunch of changes going on, including divorce and a move, and had to part with this sweet baby girl. Her last owner described her as super talkative and so much fun! She loves to be chased and will chase her person as well! Here is her backstory with the Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility prior to her first adoption in March 2025: Sweet little tortie! Came into the shelter in August 2024 so she has grown up a bit since she's been with us. She's been enjoying time playing with other kittens as they come into the shelter, and she loves "escaping" the playroom to investigate the rest of the facility. Featured as the Pet of the Week in the Sept. 23, 2026, issue of the Lamp. (Previously featured as the Pet of the Week in the Sept. 26, 2024, Nov. 21, 2024, and Dec. 12, 2024, issues of the Fort Leavenworth Lamp. (December 2024 was an adorable "Who Wore It Best" duel with kitty Sarina.) Visit the Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility at 510 Organ Ave. from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. We adopted Waffles and Jam Jam together in 2023. Waffles is now 6. She can be very sweet, but she is also very skittish. She takes a while to warm up to people and does not like a lot of loud noises. She loves neck rubs and to get fur all over a black outfit. She would thrive in a quiet kid free steady home.

Baguette is one of the sweetest cats I've ever had the pleasure of living with. However she needs to live in a home where she is the only pet. She is afraid of other animals, and will growl at other cats, and swipe at them if they get too close. If you are looking to have one cat though, I truly believe Baguette to be one of the best ones you can have.

This sweet, loving cat was either dropped off or abandoned by our house and decided to live on our porch. We kept her well fed and found she was very affectionate and was not afraid of other animals. She wants to be a lap cat and follow her owner around like a puppy. We have several of our own and would love to find a loving home for this cutie. We have asked around and listed her on FB but no response came. I have partnered with my personal veterinarian and she is treating her tongue ulcers and will be healed in a few days. We found out she is missing a few teeth but it doesn't stop her from eating and enjoying life. She does let her tongue blep out on occasion because of it. We would love to find this sweetheart a loving home where she will be cared for. She is litter trained very well. If you are thinking about adopting this girl, you will have a friend for life!

Update 9/24/26 Zena's family took her to Eudora Animal Clinic to be adopted out. She and Fluffy are probably in Kennels. I hope they are loving on them. I don't know how it works there. I am sure they are scared to death. Please contact the clinic if you want to rescue them. Zena is one of 3 cats that are in desperate need of a home. Their owner left a week ago to move into assisted living facility. They are lonely for a human to love them. I drive every day to take care of them, but they are all alone most of the time. She is a very sweet kitty. She is good in the house good litterbox kitty. Still playful once she feels safe. No health issues. Zena is approximately 5 years old, little shy takes her a little while to warm up. She is left behind with Fluffy and Boo.
