Story
I am helping my son's fiancee. Her sister had this cat and was not able to care for him properly related to her depression. His fur was very matted and dirty. I have had him for about a month and was finally able to get into the Vet for a visit. He had to be shaved and given antibiotics for the condition of his skin. He will be returning on the 10th of February for rabies and distemper shots. I will not be able to afford the FIV or Feline Leukemia tests but he has been an Indoor cat. He is 9 years old, very friendly loves the brush but he is obese.

Story
Meet Terrance! This nice boy is in need of the perfect home.He was recently returned, due to not getting along with a resident dog and cat. They had all been cohabitating together for quite some time, until something happened and Terrance no longer liked one of the cats and the dog.He did, however, get along with the young female kitty in the home.Terrance is SO SWEET and friendly with all the people he meets. He LOVES to be pet and shown love. He'll likely do best either as the only cat or with a younger female cat.Slow and proper introductions are key to setting off on the right foot, when introducing a new pet into the home.We hope someone gives Terrance a chance. He has the kindest eyes and is a good boy.He is neutered and vaccinated.Apply online to adopt: watonwan.weebly.com____Please Note: We ask that an application be filled out before coming to the shelter. Story
Meet Herbie! This handsome ginger boy was rescued from a highway rest stop near St. James in January 2026.Herbie caught the attention of passer-throughs with his friendly demeanor and big cute face.He liked when visitors pet him and gave him food.Eventually, a WCHS volunteer caught Herbie and brought him to the shelter.Herbie has an old eye injury which doesn't seem to bother him. He either has limited or no vision in his left eye.Herbie was recently neutered and vaccinated. He also tested positive for FIV. If he's still with the shelter this spring, we will retest him.Herbie seems to like other cats.He loves to be pet and talked to. He doesn't care to be held, but that's just fine. He's a big boy that would love to lounge around your house, look out the windows, and enjoy being in your presence. Being he is FIV positive, he will need to be an indoor cat. He's got some options for housing. He can be the only cat, live with other FIV cats, or live with non-FIV cats only if they are altered and will not fight with Herbie. FIV is mainly spread through deep bite wounds, so it very important that he gets along wonderfully with any cats who are non-FIV.Please talk to your vet about FIV if you'd like to learn more. There are also many online sources to help you understand FIV, such as https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv/Herbie is estimated to be a younger adult. He's up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. His fee is waived, in hopes of him finding his home soon. Please submit an adoption application online at watonwan.weebly.com____________Please Note: We ask that an application be filled out before coming to the shelter.
