Story
Name:  Gertrude Age:  Kitten DOB 9/9/25   Weight:  4 lbs Gender:  Female Breed:  Domestic Long Hair Coat Length : Long Color:  Black Smoke Dog friendly:  Yes Cat friendly:  Yes Child friendly:  Yes- older children, please Litter Box Trained : Yes Temperament:  Confident, Affectionate, Playful Energy Level:  Kitten Adoption Fee: $240+tax   To adopt, go to :   http://www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family:  On a snowy December morning in the countryside, a young boy heard tiny meows coming from a shed. Inside was a very small kitten—alone, covered in frozen dirt, and already radiating strong opinions. She was brought indoors, warmed up, bathed, and immediately began what can only be described as her rise to power.   Some believe Gertrude may be a Maine Coon or a Norwegian Forest Cat. A few have wondered if she is a descendant of Gremlins. Others suspect she is the Icelandic Yule Cat herself, here to judge your winter preparedness and household efficiency. While we do not perform DNA testing on our foster cats, we can confidently confirm that Gertie is a magical creature who is both serious and deeply opinionated.   Gertie is quite affectionate and enjoys attention, but she also has a mischievous streak. She may stalk you and attack your feet as you walk by—not out of malice, but as a form of play… or possibly reflex testing. Because of her enthusiastic and physical play style, we think she would do best in a home without small children who may not yet understand or appreciate her surprise ambushes.   Naturally bossy, Gertie responds best to being addressed as “ma’am” and phrases such as, “I’m right on top of that, Gertie!” She takes mealtime very seriously and will growl if people or other animals interrupt her while she eats. We are working on this behavior, but she remains firmly committed to food security.   In addition to supervising humans, Gertie is locked in an ongoing and very personal battle with the robot vacuum. She does not trust it. She does not forgive it. She will stalk it, swat at it, and bravely stand her ground as it roams the house, because someone has to keep modern technology in check.   Gertie enjoys being brushed and will need a family prepared to keep up with regular grooming to maintain her glorious long fur and prevent matting. In return, she offers affection, entertainment, and the undeniable honor of sharing your home with what is very likely a winter legend in kitten form.   If you’re looking for a companion who will love you fiercely, supervise you closely, and possibly haunt your hallway like a festive cryptid, Gertrude may be your girl.   Gertie lives in a foster home located in Mankato, MN and will be ready to move to her forever home after January 15th.  December 31, 2025, 9:32 pm

Story
Kenny Pawgers is a very very special boy. I’ve had him since he was only about a week old and watched him grow up into a sweet and quirky “man”. As a kitten I noticed he would eat differently than the rest of his litter and would pull his head up dramatically after bites. Then I noticed he was unable to meow! These were early signs that would lead us down a long road of testing to see if he was ill or just a unique kitten. Well , he’s kind of both. He’s not “sick” per say, but rather genetically challenged in his nasal region. The easiest way of explaining it is that his nasal passage is much more narrow than it should be which causes some breathing issues. He struggles a bit to take normal breaths which causes him to have noisy breathing and almost sounds like he’s snoring a lot. It’s very adorable once you’re used to it and know he’s still getting air, it’s just in a different way. He plays well, eats great and does everything normal except his noisy breathing. Doctors say he’s currently in great shape and have no immediate concerns. That being said Kenny Pawgers is supposed to stay low key, and avoid stressful situations. Too much stress could disrupt his immune system and that could cause issues with upper respiratory infections which could compromise his breathing issue. We hope that since he’s fully grown now this is just something he’ll live with and it won’t worsen if he’s in a calm, loving, stress-free environment. But if his breathing were to become really labored at any point, he would require further testing to see if the formation of his nasal passage has actually changed over time. As I mentioned, he acts like a normal kitty. Loves to groom his buddies and wrestle. He’s obsessed with plastic spring toys and glitter balls, both of which he’ll carry around in his mouth while he makes his goofy snoring sounds. He really loves his wet food and when I’m getting it ready he likes to give my leg a little nibble like “hurry up mom!”. He loves to be brushed and is affectionate, but more of a “lay on you in bed once in awhile” Vs. “lap cat”. Kenny LOVES watching the squirrels and birds in the feeders outside the bay window. And he also really loves to watch the critters on cat TV too! Kenny will definitely need other kitty friends but with a proper, slow intro. He’s never been around dogs or kids and is used to a quiet home with 2 adults. Kenny Pawgers is in foster care. Please submit an application or contact our adoption specialists at adoptiion@kittyrevolution.org to meet him.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Shadow! I got my name from my sleek black coat and my talent for blending into the shadows. Beneath that mysterious look, I’m a gentle, kind-hearted guy who’s so excited to start the journey of finding my forever family.  I’m really enjoying the good life indoors—long, cozy naps on my big fluffy blanket and plenty of yummy wet food are definitely favorites. I love looking out the window and soaking in the sunshine   I’m a big boy, and it’s not all fluff… if I do say so myself, I’m quite the handsome kitty! If you love petting soft fluffy things than I’m your guy.   I’m ready to take the next step and finally call a family my own. If you think that could be you, please fill out an application. I’d love to meet you   Shadow is from a stray surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 31, 2025, 8:58 am
