### Meet Sir Crustington, a.k.a. Crusty
Sir Crustington may have arrived looking like he had completely forgotten that he was supposed to be a distinguished gentleman, but he has certainly grown into the title.
When Crusty came to us, he was in very rough shape. We believe he had once been someone’s cat before being put outside, where he struggled to survive. He developed severe mange, to the point that his eyes were crusted shut, and he needed significant medical intervention and care before he could feel like himself again.
Life outside was especially hard on him. He was repeatedly attacked by other cats, and those experiences have stayed with him. When he sees another cat, he can become frightened and instinctively cower, so Crusty needs to be the **only cat in his home**. He is looking for a quiet, safe place where he never has to worry about defending himself again.
Crusty is **still recovering**, and his coat has not yet completely returned to its normal condition. His fur is continuing to grow back and improve as he recovers from the severe mange he experienced. Because he is still on his journey back to his full, handsome self, we are also open to a **foster-to-adopt home** for Crusty. This would give him the opportunity to continue recovering in a comfortable home environment while his family gets to know him and see just how wonderful he is.
Crusty is **FIV-positive**, but FIV is not a reason for him to be overlooked. With a safe indoor life, routine veterinary care, and regular vaccinations and monitoring as recommended by his veterinarian, FIV-positive cats can have many happy, fulfilling years.
He has already been through the hard part. Now Sir Crustington is ready for the much easier assignment: being someone's spoiled house cat. ❤️
