Story
Hi! I'm CJ, and I'm a 50 pound cattle dog mix, about 5 years old. I like everyone I meet, canine or human. No one is a stranger to me! My favorite things:-Making canine and human friends-Belly rubs, naps, and cuddling-Food!-Walks with stops to smell things. What I'm looking for in a home:-Another dog friend! (preferred but not required)-Either a yard, or someone that enjoys spending time outside and lets me sniff around-People who are home a lot and wont leave me alone too much! I'm the bestest boy and am ready to settle into the next part of my life! I do well in a kennel if my dog friend is next to me, I walk nicely on leash, know a few tricks, and do the best full body wiggle when I see you!  Do I sound like the buddy for you?! If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.thegooddogrescue.org (If you already have an approved application, please email thegooddogrescueadoptions@gmail.com with your interest in me!) My adoption fee is $250 and I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. I have genetically bad hips and the rescue is in the process of fixing them for me. I had the first one fixed and am recovering from that currently but doing better every day! (I can still walk 2-3 miles a day, It really isnt slowing me down too much) ##1538559##

Story
Sierra could be that dream come true best friend for an active family with gentle dog-crazy kids. Active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet and engaging companion would also be great for our sweet Sierra as well. Once comfortable, Sierra will return 100% of your kindness and caring with all the love that lives inside of her. The Catahoula / Labrador Retriever mix is a a perfect choice for those who are searching for a super- smart, loyal and very loving family dog. Sierra's story is all too common in her close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore her gorgeous looks, sweet, gentle manner and desire to bond with those that are kind to her. Sierra is a gorgeous girl with turquoise eyes that speak of her intelligence and wisdom beyond her years. Her photos in no way reflect her beauty..we've requested new photos and will update the moment we receive them. Sierra's rescuer had the following to say about our wonderful girl: Sierra was adopted as a puppy. Her adopting family was attracted to her gorgeous looks and puppyish cuteness. This absolutely great dog got into a routine with her family and had no reason to think that it was a conditional relationship! She was very easy to train and was a loving presence within the family. The kids loved Sierra to the moon and she became their loyal best friend. Little did Sierra or the children know that their perfect life was about to be turned upside down when she was relinquished to a high kill shelter and immediately scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. The very first thing that the shelter learned about Sierra was that she's absolutely wonderful! Her sweet as can be nature was just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. Her kind temperament was immediately obvious and Sierra ultimately become the shelter favorite. We can definitely see why...she is such a wonderful being. We think Sierra represents the best qualities of both the Catahoula and Retriever breeds. Sierra seems to be successfully working through the sad feelings around the lack of love that made up her early life. At about 10 months old and 49 lbs, Sierra is a fuzzy ball of goodness that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Sierra in a home that includes her in family time and activities. She's appropriately playful and fun-loving and would thrive with a family that truly loves her and considers her an important family member. Sierra will be a wonderful companion for active, fun-loving retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a sweet young dog. She would also fit in well with a younger family that works from a home-based office and loves to have a best companion to love up throughout the day. We feel that Sierra is too sensitive a girl to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. She doesn't require another dog to be happy if her people are very present and involved...but does enjoy her canine relationships with playful and gentle dogs. She is untested with cats. Catahoulas, as well as Labs are famous for their sweet temperaments and sharp intelligence! They use this intellect during their participation in training classes and therefore are very successful in learning skills and commands. We feel strongly that Sierra should attend positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten training classes. She'll be a class star (which builds high self-esteem) while bonding with her family and learning her skills in a very positive way. Through this training, Sierra will become a well-behaved adult dog that can accompany her family out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/ force-free trainers in your area. Sierra will do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a neighborhood walk, a long hike on gorgeous Colorado trails, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch...all of this would speak to Sierra's sweetness, gentle personality and social skills. Sierra has a stunning cottony-soft coat golden merle coat that speaks of her breed mix. She will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths / brushing and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for coat care and general longevity). Through this regimen, Sierra's hair will always be super-healthy and shining with excellent health. Sierra will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/13/2023. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this very sweet, loyal and cuddly best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Sierra please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
