Story
Olympia is a super sweet Red bone Coonhound Catahoula mix. She is about 40 pounds and super sweet. She loves to play fetch, go for hikes and wrestle with her brother. She is crate trained and potty trained at her foster home.. She takes good care of her brother Ocean who is sight impaired so if they could be adopted together that would be great. If interested in adopting, please visit www.masrescue.org and click on "Adopt Here". You will find the adoption application at the bottom of the page. Beginning June 30th, 2017, MAS Rescue will charge a $10 non refundable administrative application processing fee. 100% of this fee will be for our rescued animals in need. To be clear: 1. No dog application will be processed until the $10 fee is paid via PayPal link on our website: http://www.masrescue.org/helpus.html. 2. The $10 is non refundable. Should you be approved and adopt an animal through MAS Rescue, you will receive a $10 credit to your adoption fee. 3. Paying the application fee is in no way a guarantee that you will be approved to adopt an animal through MAS Rescue. All of the same standards in processing applications still apply. See our policies and procedures: http://www.masrescue.org/pnp.html 4. By submitting an application and paying the $10 application fee, you agree to the terms listed above. If you do not adopt through MAS Rescue or your application is rejected, this serves as your notice of the application fee policy. The adoption fee is $300.00. Please Note: 100% of all the adoption fees collected are used to care for the animals, and pay our ever increasing vet bill. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This puppy has been examined by our vet, and provided with first vaccinations and initial preventatives. Please be aware that it is the opinion of this rescue group, in conjunction with dog behaviorists, that a young puppy benefits greatly with proper socialization. We will only place puppies in homes where they have the opportunity to be with someone all day, travel to work, or have special arrangements, such as Puppy Day Care, Dog Walker, etc. Puppies benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of puppies coming from MAS Rescue! Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Remember, adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!

Story
Ocean is such a beautiful sweet soul. He is playful despite being sight impaired. He has been diagnosed with microphthalmia which is when they eyeballs are smaller than normal. He has had surgery to remove his third eyelids from the corneas and can now see about 60-70%. He will always have blindspots but gets around really well once he is comfortable. His sister takes very good care of him and so we would prefer they are adopted together. If not Ocean will need to be adopted with another dog that is willing to engage with him and be his guide. I am 2 year old Catahoula mix :) looking for an ACTIVE family! They say I'm a very smart cookie, that sounds amazing!!! Who doesn't like cookies?! I know sit, fetch and learning to drop it. I have doggie friends and I've met the kitties and they are ok too! I am still a little nervous with new people and sometimes like to bork at them so they know I'm there. Foster mom is teaching me so many cool things all the time. I am crate trained and I LOOOVE belly rubs! I would do great with an active family that likes to go on hikes, adventures and give me lots of chewy toys and stimulate my growing mind! If you like to have a good time like me, have your people get with my people and let's get this pawty started!!! Story
Introducing Hondo, the loyal and brave companion you've been waiting for! Hondo is a true good boy, showcasing his friendly nature with both people and fellow furry friends. He strikes the perfect balance between confident and respectful, making him a wonderful addition to any household dynamic. While Hondo may be a bit head shy when it comes to leashes, it's a trait rooted in his past experiences - his ears once caused him discomfort. But with patience and understanding, he's slowly overcoming this challenge. This resilience highlights his adaptable nature and willingness to grow. Crate training is a breeze for Hondo, reflecting his cooperative spirit. He's well-versed in the art of sitting and enjoys eating a peaceful meal. These traits make him a joy to train and a promising companion for both new and experienced pet owners. Hondo's ideal home is one that's lively and active, as he thrives in an environment where he can stretch his legs and engage in the joyful act of running. With a strong recall foundation already in place, he's open to further fine-tuning this skill. This warrior-dog's name is music to his ears, and he responds to it with enthusiasm. Though his recall could use a bit more polish, his eagerness to learn shines through. Hondo's adaptable and resourceful nature, coupled with his receptive attitude, make him a loyal partner for all your adventures. If you're seeking a four-legged friend who embodies both resilience and companionship, look no further than Hondo. He's ready to stand by your side and show you the depths of his affectionate heart. Don't hesitate to welcome this valiant spirit into your home! We are the ARMY puppies :) Or maybe the MARINE puppies :) Definitely NOT the NAVY puppies, no such thing as MAJOR in the Navy!! So now that we have established our branch, we need to also establish that we are the OFFICERS of the group :) Lieutenant may not be the most EXPERIENCED but she still likes to be in charge, lol. Major is DEFINITELY more experienced at being a puppy and likes to let LT boss her around (a little). So we are the puppies who know what we want and we will let YOU know too! We are Catahoula mixed pups, so we are smart and active and like to have a job. We are easily trained and would love someone to stimulate our minds. So you know about us, and now you need to make that decision!! Do you want to adopt one of us or not? Don't say NO, do say YES and we will get along just fine! We would love to have a playmate in our new homes too, kids or other dog would fit the bill! Please adopt, don't SHOP!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Rye is searching for her forever home as the only animal so that she can soak up all the attention from her humans! RYE'S STORY FROM OUR DIRECTOR: Rye was brought up to the DMV Region from a Texan shelter in 2020. I was working for another rescue at the time, running the transport/foster program, and offloaded her myself when she arrived. She fit into the palm of my hand she was so small and only a few weeks old. She was adopted immediately, incorrectly labeled as a chihuahua mix. Unfortunately, 7 months later, her family returned her due to the combination of the pandemic and how "big" she got (she's only 40 lbs but they were expecting an 8 lb Chi-Mix!). Unfortunately from there, Rye was bounced around from foster to foster and boarding facilities until 2021 when the previous rescue felt it was best to euthanize her. I couldn't let that happen so I adopted her with the intention of finding her a home! I renamed her to Rye (named for the kind of Whiskey) and started working on training with her. She was our first intake when I co-founded Laila's Legacy in 2023 and we've been working to find her a home since then. RYE IN THE HOME / HER PERFECT FIT: Rye has the funniest personality. She's got energy, bounciness, and is so inquisitive. She's also insanely smart. The latter is a blessing and a curse because she learns training so quickly, has great recall (although I've never allowed her to be off-leash just very long long-lines for hikes/walks), and learned leash walking skills very quickly. On the flip side, she needs a lot of mental stimulation to keep that big brain happy! I've found it really can be a mix of things to do that though - sitting outside on the stoop to people watch from my house, sitting in a park with her practicing neutrality (and getting treats of course) while I read, practicing all her tricks, working on recall in a long-line, playing tug/fetch, brain games and puzzle toys, you name it. Anyone that is excited to go on walks and spend time with their dog - have a companion - will love Rye. She just wants to hang with her humans and get some mental stimulation while she does it. In late 2021, Rye started urinating in her crate. An odd behavior because she's very potty trained and crate trained. In early 2022 she had a seizure and it was then we discovered she was having mini-seizures causing her to urinate in her crate. Unfortunately, they do still occasionally happen but she takes a once daily med called Keppra which is easy to get from Chewy and she LOVES peanut butter so she takes it every day without issue. I've seen the crate urination drastically reduce and when I was working from home full-time it was non existent because she was hanging with me outside of the crate so much. Now that I work a 9-5 she doesn't have that freedom. Rye's intelligence comes from her breed - likely Catahoula or some sort of herding breed. That's where her prey drive comes from as well so she'd prefer a home without cats! When it comes to her relationship with dogs, she loves to play. She'll play with mine and have a grand ol' time romping around with them. Because of her herding tendencies she's been muzzle trained as well for playing and has a cute bright pink muzzle for when it's needed and she wears it with ~style~. In the home, Rye will guard her items from other dogs. This could include food, toys, bed, etc. so for her sake we recommend she not go to a home with dogs in it. But honestly, that will also be a win-win because she LOVES her humans so fiercely and wants to be your companion that it'll let her have all the one-on-one time she and her future owner will love. Rye has been through a training program and her trainer loves her. Rye's future forever family will be connected with that trainer for a "Rye 101 Course" on her training and are highly encouraged to do more sessions and continue to build her education! While I adore Rye with my whole heart, and have been honored to spend so much time with her, it's time for this sweet gal to find her forever home and get OUT of the rescue world! She deserves to be the spoiled queen she wants to be and I can' t wait to see that for her! ATTRIBUTES: Rye can not go to a home with cats or kids. ------------ Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Brought in by her previous family, Aurelia is now ready to embark on a new chapter of her life. At 3 years old, Aurelia's vibrant personality shines through in every interaction. She may get excited easily when meeting new friends-of cat, dog, or adult human sort-but she quickly settles and just wants to snuggle up and receive attention. When not next to you, Aurelia is known to be quiet and well behaved in her crate, even hanging out in there when not required to. Aurelia's zest for life extends beyond the home. She relishes car rides, delights in the great outdoors, and is content simply hanging out with her favorite people.
