Story
Simone just took her freedom ride. This adorable, 1-year old white and merle catahoula hound/bully mix with the gorgeous blue eyes is shy but so sweet....she arrived at the shelter with a head tilt of unknown origin and partially deaf. It doesn't stop her once she has warmed up from running/playing and exploring. She will do best in a home with another dog. While she’s spunky and brave when playing with other dogs, she also has a calm, thoughtful side that makes her easy to fall in love with. 💕 An adopter with experience with a shy dog and patience but it will be so rewarding to allow this sweet smart girl to thrive. She's waiting for someone like YOU to adopt her and show her the world! This terrific pup came from an overcapacity rural shelter in North Carolina that was making tough decisions, especially for a special needs dog. It took a village to make sure that Simone and some long-timers (such as Bingo) were safe. We were able to bring Simone to the DC area so she will have the second chance that she deserves. She’s currently working on crate and house training, and making progress! Whether she’s curled up in your lap or off on a mini mission of discovery, Simone is the perfect mix of sweet, tender and submissive. Simone is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. Hello world, I’m Mena — a gorgeous Catahoula mix with striking markings and the most stunning eyes (yes, they’re two different colors!). Wherever I go, I stand out in the crowd — and not just because of my looks, but because of my happy, friendly spirit. I was rescued by K-9 Lifesavers from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama along with my two siblings (Pup Thumper and Pup Gurri), and now I’m ready to find my forever family. At my prime age for training and socialization, I’m eager to learn, explore, and show off just how smart a girl I can be. I’m sweet, outgoing, and love making new friends. With other dogs, I can sometimes be a little possessive of my toys and food — but with guidance and consistency, that’s something that can be easily managed. I might do best as an only dog or with slow introductions. All I’m missing is someone to call my own. Could that be you? Apply today — your best friend might just have four paws and a dazzling pair of eyes! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
