Story
Meet Emily, a 5 month-old Catahoula mix with an adorable and unique personality. With her distinctive coloring, we believe she's a double merle, yet she has no vision or hearing issues. Emily's mostly white fur is adorned with captivating blue/grey merle spots along her back, complementing her beautiful blue eyes. 💙 This outgoing pup takes the lead as the welcoming committee in her foster home, eagerly greeting anyone who visits. Emily thrives on interaction and enjoys playing with other dogs. She would cherish a doggy companion in her forever home. With her spunky puppy personality, she's always ready for playtime and would be great with older children. She’s one of those puppies that when it's time to settle, she loves crawling into your lap for heart-melting snuggles, it’s especially sweet when she turns her head towards your heart for the deepest snuggle and connection. 🥰 Emily is making excellent progress with crate(although she prefers to sleep with her foster family) and house training. Her adventurous spirit shines during outdoor time, making her an ideal companion for walks. A fenced-in yard would perfectly match her curious nature. This “little mouse” as her foster mom affectionately calls her 🐁🩷 is ready to bring joy and love to her forever family. Would you like to be the one to provide Emily with a warm and loving home? Story
Meet Mindy, a 5 month-old Catahoula mix with uniquely captivating eyes—one blue, one green—and a stunning red merle fur coat. This delightful pup boasts an outgoing personality, relishing in making new friends and playing with other dogs. Mindy's intelligence shines through as she shows signs of being easily trainable, excelling in both general and house training. 💙💚 A true snuggle bug, Mindy's endearing gaze tugs at hearts, especially when she craves affection. While she may be a bit too active for toddlers, older children will find in her a playful and loving companion. She thrives on exploring her surroundings, following her curious nature around the yard. A fenced yard would be perfect for her outdoor adventures. Mindy's love for outdoor fun also makes her an excellent potential hiking companion. ❣️ Consider welcoming Mindy into your home and providing her with the love and companionship she deserves. This sweet and smart pup is ready to bring joy and charm to your family. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/42/24 Still available!  2/2/24 Troika is a gorgeous little catahoula girl who was found in a cemetery, presumably dumped there. We believe her leg was caught in a trap of some sort and it is now deformed. We have had our vet examine the leg and he did not recommend amputation, as she did use it a little bit, it is not painful, and it has formed a callous, so it's presence is not hurting anything. Our vet felt that it would be an unnecessary surgery, so we opted to leave it alone. I will say it is adorable how she uses the leg to 'wave' when she gets excited. Troika is incredibly affectionate. She loves everyone she meets and is a friendly little girl. She gets along well with other dogs, but is very vocal with them, which could be mistaken by another dog for aggression, so she needs a dog companion who is not hyper reactive. She doesn't mean any harm, but she can be quite mouthy, as most catahoulas are. Troika is fostered with several other dogs and she does very well with them. She is about 6 months old and weighs about 40 lbs. She is housetrained and crate trained. Troika is not great with cats!  Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Brodie is another of our Paws In Prison students. This young guy was found by a mail carrier when he was about 4 months old. He had been abandoned in her route. She took him home with her but couldn't keep him. Brodie is a smart boy and is learning everything he needs to know, to be able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. He is currently about 6 months old and weighs about 40 lbs. We believe he is a pit bull mix, but could be catahoula mix. We are unsure. He gets along well with other dogs, but prefers humans over dogs for companionship. He will make someone a wonderful friend! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Story
The eyes have it. Like, they really, really have it. Oakey has arresting blue eyes, (which are actually ice blue and brown if you look closely) and he puts them to good use staring intently at humans until they break down, confess all of their secrets, and beg forgiveness. Okay, maybe that's just us, but you'll see what we're talking about when that gaze comes your way. Oakey's intense eyes make him look quite serious, but he is actually a playful love-muffin! He loves balls and other toys, does a little dance at walk time and melts when he gets a good scritch. He has displayed wonderful dog skills in his foster homes, including tolerating the 2 year old pitbull begging him to play by racing circles around him and pouncing endlessly. He does enjoy a bit of calmer dog play, but Oakey has lived well as an only dog and definitely seeks a solid human bond. Oakey is house trained and crated trained, quiet and eager to please. He will be an amazing work-from-home buddy or companion on the walking trails. He has already shown us he is willing and able to adapt as long as a patient, loving human is nearby. Oakey is part of our Silver Paws Program and has had a comprehensive senior medical exam and bloodwork.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- SCOUT IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR A INDIVIDUAL ASKING TO REHOME HIM.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.My name is Scout! I'm a 3 1/2 year old hound! I love being with my humans and my other dog brother who is a chihuahua, but I don't like all dogs, so slow introductions are necessary. I don't really do well with kids. I'd need to be with a family with no kids. I am a little leery of strangers, so it takes me a little bit to trust adults. But after that I'm all yours! I love being outside, taking walks, and curling up on my dog bed. If you are looking for a new companion, look no further! Please consider adopting me!  My owner is also willing to provide several bags of food with my adoption. If you are interested in adopting Scout, please contact: Tim Rodrigo rodrigo40@verizon.net Phone: 717-756-4687Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 28, 2024, 11:52 am

Boone just wants to be a house dog and sleep inside in the nice warmth with his family. He gets along well with children and other dogs. Let's see if she can pull on your heart strings the way she pulled on ours. We didn't need anymore hounds to try to find homes for. We have a ton and no one wants them but we couldn't say no to Sweet Ann. Used for hunting and breeding for her entire life (about 9 years), we were asked to take her because she no longer went into heat. Having never lived inside a home, we wanted Ann to know what that felt like. Sweet Ann lives up to her name. She loves people and other dogs and the joys of being a family member. She is quiet and reserved right now as she figures out all the new things she is seeing and experiencing. No one deserves happiness and comfort more than retired hunting hounds. They are the breed who need us (and you!) the most and we are proud to be able to save them!A reduced adoption fee of $100 does appy to all of our seniors over 8 years old, dogs with special medical and/or behavioral needs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs.Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
