Story
Introducing Hondo, the loyal and brave companion you've been waiting for! Hondo is a true good boy, showcasing his friendly nature with both people and fellow furry friends. He strikes the perfect balance between confident and respectful, making him a wonderful addition to any household dynamic. While Hondo may be a bit head shy when it comes to leashes, it's a trait rooted in his past experiences - his ears once caused him discomfort. But with patience and understanding, he's slowly overcoming this challenge. This resilience highlights his adaptable nature and willingness to grow. Crate training is a breeze for Hondo, reflecting his cooperative spirit. He's well-versed in the art of sitting and enjoys eating a peaceful meal. These traits make him a joy to train and a promising companion for both new and experienced pet owners. Hondo's ideal home is one that's lively and active, as he thrives in an environment where he can stretch his legs and engage in the joyful act of running. With a strong recall foundation already in place, he's open to further fine-tuning this skill. This warrior-dog's name is music to his ears, and he responds to it with enthusiasm. Though his recall could use a bit more polish, his eagerness to learn shines through. Hondo's adaptable and resourceful nature, coupled with his receptive attitude, make him a loyal partner for all your adventures. If you're seeking a four-legged friend who embodies both resilience and companionship, look no further than Hondo. He's ready to stand by your side and show you the depths of his affectionate heart. Don't hesitate to welcome this valiant spirit into your home! Story
Howdy! My name Is Zayit, pronounced Za-yeet, which means olive. I looked kind of small when I was first found but I have grown up to be a big gal, and I mean fast! I was found dumped, scared, and alone. The kind woman who found me took me to God’s Dogs Rescue ASAP. I was covered in fleas and ticks, had worms and was rather thin! But GDR cleaned me up, fed me, gave me medicine for my tummy and to keep those pesky fleas and ticks away! I looked small at the time, so small they thought I was a chihuahua! My foster mom saw me and said “NO WAY! Chihuahua? This girl looks like a BLACK MOUTH CUR!” Do you know what that means? That means I will probably grow up to be a larger gal, maybe 60 pounds, and an active one! Daily exercise and learning tricks at minimum will keep me busy because hunters and herders are what my ancestors were known to be! So here I am, growing by the day, eating super well and playing a lot with my new friend, Sariya. She is also my foster fur-sister, who is teaching me how to be a doggoe. We love rough housing! And she is teaching me how to play tug-of-war with her toys, but on her terms. I sleep snuggly in a big girl crate, or what my foster mama refers to as my “night-night”. It’s my safe space, my dining space, my sleeping space, my over-all private space. Sometimes I do have sleepovers on the big bed with my foster mom. I can be a bit shy, perhaps some will refer to me as apprehensive. When you walk towards me or try to pick me up I might run and hide, like in my night-night. Give me some time and I will warm up to you! When I was smaller my foster mama would scoop me up and we would sit together on her fuzzy chair. My foster brother scoops me up too and tries to nap with me. I like meeting other dogs and behaved pretty well with cats while I was on leash! Time and patience and lots of socializing folks, that’s all I need and I will luv you fur-ever.

Story
I have had so many chances in my young life. Seriously...I was found with four siblings at about 2.5 weeks old, dumped in a box at the post office... we were so, so sick and close to death. My rescue mom really worked hard to get us healthy and LIVE. And we did! About 6 weeks later, we all got parvo..... and my rescuer was able to nurse all of us out of it! All my siblings have been adopted, and I am ready too! I am somewhat shy and will take time to settle into my new family. But I will adjust. I am best with another dog, calm and confident, because I will mirror that energy. As a gorgeous catahoula/whippet mix, I have plenty of energy and I love to play! Fetch and chase games are my favorite . I am adoptable in Texas, I need to meet my family and you need to meet me! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX)
