Hi, I’m Dulce! I’m a 4-month-old, 16 lb. female Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, and I may be young, but I already have quite the story to tell. Not long ago, my siblings and I were sitting in a shelter in California with only 24 hours left to live. We were scheduled to be euthanized, but thankfully, The Asher House heard about us and stepped in just in time. We were saved, brought to safety, and given the chance at a future we almost didn’t have. But our fight wasn’t over yet. After arriving, every single puppy in my group became sick with parvo. We were incredibly ill and needed to be hospitalized so we could receive the intensive medical care we needed. It was a scary start to our new lives, but we were surrounded by people who fought right alongside us and made sure we had every opportunity to get better. And we did! I’m now fully recovered, feeling so much better, and finally getting to enjoy what being a puppy is supposed to be all about—playing, exploring, making friends, and soaking up all the love and attention I can get! I’m dog, cat, and kid friendly, and at only 4 months old, I have so much growing and learning ahead of me. I’ll need a family who is ready to continue teaching me all the important puppy basics, like potty training, leash walking, socialization, and good manners. I came so close to never getting the opportunity to grow up. Now I have my whole life ahead of me, and I’m ready to make every moment count. All I need now is a forever family to share it with. I love affection from my humans. Pets are wonderful. Belly rubs are incredible. Being dramatically told I’m the most handsome boy ever created is necessary for my emotional wellbeing, honestly. I also do great with most other dogs. Having dog friends is awesome because we can play together, run around, and bark at absolutely nothing as a team. As for cats, I’ve never really shared my superhero headquarters with them before. I met several here at the sanctuary and I didn't pay much attention to them so slow, supervised introductions will be best for me. Now listen, every hero has their training arc, okay. I’m still learning some manners, so I’ll need a family committed to continuing my positive reinforcement training. I’m a smart boy and eager to learn, but sometimes my enthusiasm for life gets a little bigger than my brain for a moment. Because of that, I’d do best with kids over the age of 9 who understand dog boundaries and can give me space when I need to decompress. I’m a sweet boy, but I’ll thrive most with a family that understands structure, consistency, and helping me continue building confidence and good decision-making skills.
