Story
*SPECIAL NEEDS - PLEASE READ FULL BIO* Celyn! Celyn is an approx 4-5 mth old medium sized mixed breed. We have no idea exactly what her mix is but an educated guess is there is at least some catahoula leopard mix in there. We always struggle with labeling a deaf dog as special needs because according to Celyn, and anyone who knows her, she is just a typical happy puppy. The only difference is she can't hear when a dog barks at her to play more ;) Deaf dogs are amazing creatures and are easily trained, often with things like hand signals. Obviously even more care than usual should be taken to make sure she does not accidentally get out off leash as she cannot hear you calling her back and can't hear dangers like cars coming. She may also be partially visually impaired. She does so well, it is really hard to tell! Celyn is super friendly with everyone. She loves people and she loves dogs. She will need a family willing to continue to work with her on housebreaking and basic manners. Celyn's adoption fee includes her spay, age appropriate vaccinations and microchipping. She is up to date on deworming and preventatives. Interested in Celyn? Please complete an online adoption application at www.dogtownrescue.org

Story
Rhetta and her sibling were found on the side of the road in Mississippi and were rescued and bottle fed.  Rhetta- 45lbs and approx 6 months old. UTD on vaccines, preventatives. Playful and smart, very treat motivated making training a breeze! Walking on the leash, crate trained, and fully house trained.  Plays fetch, will bring the tennis ball back! Social and respectful with all the pups she has met including the 3 resident dogs.  Curious when it comes to cats and chickens. Loves children, men, women and all strangers(it’s like she’s known you all her life!) No food or toy aggression. Catahoula leopard dog mix is the best guess, anticipate a med/larger dog when fully grown.  Curious and energetic, loves to be with her people and very adventurous! Rhetta is being spayed in early June.    Interested in Rhetta? Adoption fee is $400 once spayed  Apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FHPA/DogJuly 25, 2024, 12:55 pm

Story
Alabama came in as a stray and no family ever came looking for him. He's about a year old. Alabama is very strong and would greatly benefit from basic training to make him into the best dog he can be! He loves people but seems to dislike other dogs.

Story
Ahoy there! SeaBiscuit here, looking to sail away to a good home! Landlubbers say I have gorgeous coloring and am rather unique looking (I would say aye to that.) I narrowly escaped being euthanized for space at an overcrowded shelter but a kind family saw my photo and decided to foster me. Talk about lucky!! Here are a few things to know about me. I am an energetic mate but settle down quickly. My fosters say I just melt into them and can’t get enough cuddling and snuggling. I am good with their teenage daughter and love her so much. I am friendly, playful, fun, know sit, give kisses, affectionate. I am house trained and crate trained. I know sit, lay down commands and I am working on touch, focus, turn, and stay commands. What else do you need to know? I have enjoyed the company of other dogs at the shelter and am trying to make friends with the dog in my foster home, except he’s taking his time to get to know me. I was going to put this message in a bottle but people tell me the internet is faster. So, please consider me, SeaBiscuit and allow me to sail into your home and heart! Check out my YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cv12D8OLm5s Age: 2.9 years Weight: 62 lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative and on prevention Temperament: Good with other dogs. Good with older, respectful kids. Training, House trained, crate trained, knows several commands Email for questions: sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review.

Story
Meet BAM! Bam is now 2 years, 2 months old and 62 lbs. He was abandoned in McKenzie, TN at a rental property. HOW HORRID! He had much higher energy back in Feb 2023. But with an AMAZING, dedicated foster Mom...Bam has established a regular exercise routine and he has nicely smoothed out his energy now. Bam's 'thing' is his georgeous blue eyes. They look like jewels glistening at ya! I did the breed app check. And if shows mostly American Fox Hound with mix of Louisianna Catahoula Leopard. I'm going with it as his breed has had us puzzled. Bam is great with all the dogs in his foster home...of both genders, all ages, and various breeds. He is good on leash, rides well, crates & house trained.
