Story
Meet Kevin!Kevin may be small, but he’s mighty when it comes to loyalty. He came to us with some behavioral history of being very protective of his person — acting as a little bodyguard who didn’t love sharing his owner’s attention. If you’re looking for a dog-friendly dog who also takes his role as your personal security very seriously, Kevin might be your guy.Since being with us, Kevin has shown no guarding or protection issues, and he has been settling in nicely. That said, it’s important to remember that dogs can behave differently in a shelter environment than they do in a home, so adopters should be mindful and ready to provide structure, guidance, and clear boundaries as Kevin continues to adjust.Kevin would do best in a home that appreciates a confident, spunky dog with a big personality in a small package — one who will make sure you feel like the safest person in the world. With the right match, Kevin has the potential to be an incredibly devoted companion.Kevin's adoption fee is $150, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Story
Meet Fauna 💚Fauna’s journey hasn’t been an easy one, but her resilience shines through every day. She was found by a kind Good Samaritan on the side of the road, appearing as though she had been struck by a car. Exhausted, hurting, and scared, she was brought to us for help. Our team quickly got her to a veterinarian in Annapolis, where it was confirmed that she had indeed been hit. Thanks to proper care, love, and time, Fauna is healing well — but her heart needs healing too. Because of her past trauma, she can take a little while to warm up to new people. She’ll need multiple meet-and-greets with potential adopters so she can build trust at her own pace. Once she feels safe, her loyal and alert nature shines. She’ll let you know if someone is coming to the house, making her a great little “alarm system” with a big heart.Fauna does wonderfully with dogs, cats, and would do best in a home with kids over 12 who can understand her need for space and gentle handling. She’s looking for a home that will give her patience, understanding, and a safe place to feel secure again. If you’re ready to help a brave girl learn to trust and love again, Fauna is waiting for you. 💕Fauna's adoption fee is $150, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Story
Basement Puppy - Cocoa Hello there! My name is Cocoa and I am the smallest one of my litter of 5 puppies who were born under a house. It was nice and cozy for a while, but then we got rescued at 5 weeks and came to our foster mom. Our mom was a little 13 pound chihuahua looking mama dog. Mom was a wild child so we came to the rescue to learn to love people and have a home so we don’t have to walk on the wild side. We love being with our foster mom and playing with the different dogs at the house. One thing you should know is that I can walk through puppy gates as I am that small. So I regularly leave the puppy room and go to the back to see the chihuahua named Busy Boots and the poodles who hang out there. It is fun! Some of us look like perhaps mom or even dad had some pug in them, as we have some of the coloring or the shorter mugs of a pug. But all of us are 100% adorable! I favor the chihuahua side I think. I will be on the small side, depending on what genetic size my rambler dad brought, but I should be under 15-20 pounds fully grown. I get my baby making bits removed on January 5, 2026 and then will be able to go to my forever home. Will that be with you? Local Adoption fee in Texas is $350 Out of state adoption fee with transport and fuel surcharge is $600

Ready for a new friend? Meet Honey! Honey is a sweet dog, just like her name she is oozing with affection and love. She is a very medium/small sized beagle/chi mix, she is housebroken and likes to let people know when she needs to go out by pawing at your legs. Loves to cuddle with you, she can be a velcro dog sometimes and will make your couch her permanent home!. Honey doesn't like to share her affection with others and is adoptable into a single dog/animal home. She does tolerate the foster mom's kitties but honestly she would really love to be the center of someone's life. She has MORE than enough love and devotion to fill your heart every day. She is crate trained. She loves to sleep in the bed too! If you are looking for the yin to your yang, the bread to your jam or the pup to your life... HONEY is the ONE!!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
