Story
Pepperoni may be a little spicy at first, but once he warms up, he's all sweetness! This adorable adult Chihuahua mix came to us as a stray and has found the shelter to be a scary place, so he's still a bit cautious with new people. With a little patience and a gentle approach, his affectionate, loving personality shines through. Pepperoni is looking for a soft landing with an adopter who will let him settle in at his own pace. He'd do best in a home with adults or older children who can help him build confidence and show him that the world isn't such a scary place.

Story
Artie: A Little Dog With a Whole Lot of Love There is something about Artie that makes you want to scoop him up, hold him close, and promise him that everything is going to be okay.Artie is an almost 6-month-old long-haired Chihuahua who weighs 9.5 pounds, and this handsome little blondie is overflowing with personality. He has the perfect combination of puppy spunk and sass, softened by an enormous capacity for cuddles, affection, and love. He is playful, curious, wonderfully social, and just plain delightful.Artie came to Critter Cavalry Rescue after his family realized that, despite everyone's best intentions, a young puppy was simply more responsibility than their circumstances allowed. His mom was working incredibly long hours to provide for her three children, and although the children had promised to help with the puppy, those promises didn't become reality. When it became clear that Artie needed more time, attention, training, and commitment than the family could provide, his mom did the right thing and asked for help. And that is where Artie's next chapter began.Today, this little boy is fully vetted and ready for a family who understands that puppies are a commitment and who will happily continue helping him become the wonderful adult dog he is destined to be. His biggest lesson right now is continuing his housetraining. Beyond that, he is an absolute joy.Artie has been around both big and small dogs and thinks everyone is a potential playmate. He never seems to have gotten the memo that some dogs might not want to be his best friend, because as far as Artie is concerned, there are no strangers—only friends he hasn't met yet. He has even attended three Puppy Yoga classes with children and adults, giving him wonderful opportunities to experience new people and environments. He is also a seasoned little traveler. Artie does beautifully in the car and isn't an excessive barker. In fact, he is surprisingly selective about what deserves his attention. One of our favorite things about him is his adorable habit of collecting his toys and carrying them back to his dog bed, as though he is carefully putting his little treasures away. And when the day is over, Artie knows how to settle down. He sleeps through the night in bed with his people and can be as quiet and calm as can be. There is something incredibly sweet about watching this energetic little puppy finally curl up beside you and simply enjoy being close. We expect Artie will grow to around 15 pounds, making him a wonderful size for someone looking for a small companion with a big personality. He has good recall, doesn't appear to be a runner, and would love having even a small securely fenced area where he can safely stretch his legs and enjoy some off-leash playtime. What Artie needs now is not just a home. He needs someone committed to finishing what was started for him. Someone dog-savvy who understands that a puppy still has lessons to learn. Someone who will laugh at his puppy antics, appreciate his little quirks, continue his housetraining, and give him the consistency and love that will help him grow into the exceptional dog we know he can be.We absolutely adore this little guy, and we want his next home to be forever.Artie is fostered in Tennessee and is ready to hop on the van and head north to the Northeast. Critter Cavalry Rescue transports every weekend, so his new family may not be as far away as they think. If Artie sounds like the little blondie you've been waiting for, contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to learn more.Artie has already had one change of plans in his young life. Now he deserves the one thing every puppy dreams of: a family who chooses him for keeps.     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 27, 2026, 4:32 pm

Story
Adoption Application:https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/DogKarina is 2 years old and 10 lbs, an adorable little brown and tan girl who is just beginning to learn what life inside a home is all about. She has only been here a few days and is slowly starting to come out of her shell. Karina can startle easily with loud noises, so we think she would be happiest in a quieter household where she can settle in at her own pace and build confidence. She is already discovering that cuddles are pretty great, although she prefers them on her own terms. As she gets more comfortable, we are seeing more of her sweet personality come through, and we expect that to continue as she realizes she is safe.Karina is doing well using pee pads and is currently working on potty training outside. She is a sensitive little girl who just needs some patience, love and time to adjust. We think watching her learn to trust and become comfortable in her new home is going to be incredibly rewarding.Karina is being fostered in Essex, MD.**PLEASE READ:**Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule. Please be ready to train ANY dog you adopt! Also, please understand we can not guarantee breed or full grown size of any young dog or puppy.Thank you for understanding.

Adoption Application:[https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/Dog](https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/Dog)Kiara is 6 years old and just 6 lbs, a tiny, sweet girl who recently arrived from Puerto Rico and is still getting used to her new surroundings.Kiara is shy at first, but in just a few days with her foster family she has already chosen her favorite person and completely attached herself to them. She loves being held and cuddled and will happily follow her person around the house just to be close. She is slowly starting to relax and become more comfortable with the resident dogs, too. Every day she seems a little less afraid and a little more curious about life around her. Since she has only been here a few days, we think there is still so much of Kiara's personality waiting to come out as she realizes she is safe.Kiara would love a patient home that will give her the time she needs to settle in at her own pace. Once she decides you're her person, you can expect to have one very tiny and devoted shadow.Kiara is being fostered in Bel Air, MD.**PLEASE READ:**Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule. Flan loves playing and being a typical wild, silly puppy, but once he’s worn himself out, he’s just as happy cuddling up for a nap.He is already doing well in his crate and is working on potty training. Flan is still very much a puppy baby, so his new family should be ready for all the fun, play, training, cuddles and chaos that come along with raising a puppy. He’s a happy, playful little guy with lots of personality who would love a family to grow up with.Flan is being fostered in Glen Burnie, MD.**PLEASE READ:**Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule.
