Story
Meet Uno — an 11‑year‑old Chihuahua mix with a gentle heart and a big need for stability. Meet Uno — a sweet, sensitive senior who’s weathered a big life change with quiet resilience. He was surrendered when his owner moved into assisted living, and while that kind of transition can be tough on a little dog, Uno has handled it with grace. What he wants now is simple: a calm, loving place to call his own.Uno’s dog and cat tests are pending, and we’ll update his profile once we have more information. His previous owner shared that he doesn’t enjoy the company of other pets and is unsure around young children, so he’ll do best with kids 12 and up. Here in the shelter, he hasn’t shown any issues, but we will test him to ensure we know everything Uno needs.Uno can be shy when you first meet him, taking a moment to decide if you’re safe. Give him that time, and you’ll see his true personality unfold — he’ll trot over, hop up on your legs, and ask for gentle pets with all the trust he has. He’s a loyal little companion who bonds deeply once he feels comfortable. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving senior who just wants a peaceful home and a person to adore, Uno is ready to meet you. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! ACSKC Health Care for Each Adopted Pet Includes:Dogs: Preventatives for parasites, vaccines (Kennel Cough, Distemper, Rabies), spay/neuter, microchip, behavioral assessment.Cats: Parasite treatment, FeLV/FIV testing, deworming for kittens, vaccines (Distemper, Rabies), spay/neuter, microchip. What You’ll Take Home:Toys, treats, and food sampleRabies tag, microchip number, and medical recordsA “Pet Pal Packet” with feeding info, training tips, and guidance for helping your new pet adjust

Story
Adoption Application:https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/DogTiana is 2.5 years old and just 11 lbs, a tiny little sweetheart with a big personality.Tiana was rescued in Puerto Rico after being found wandering alone near a school. She was taken in by a wonderful foster family who kept her safe and showed her what it was like to be loved and cared for.She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet and playful side comes right out. Tiana loves children, dogs, cats, and being around her people. She enjoys toys, happily follows you around the house, and loves settling in for a cozy nap on the bed.Tiana is still working on potty training and adjusting to life in a home, but she has already come such a long way. She is a sweet, affectionate little girl who is ready to find a family of her own.Tiana is being fostered in Halethorpe, MD.PLEASE READ: We cannot guarantee any breed or estimated adult size. Because many of our dogs come from unknown backgrounds, any breed information is our best guess based on appearance. Please also remember that even if a dog is doing well with potty training in a foster home, accidents should be expected during the transition to a new home. Patience, consistency, and time to adjust are important for every newly adopted dog.

Story
Artie: A Little Dog With a Whole Lot of Love There is something about Artie that makes you want to scoop him up, hold him close, and promise him that everything is going to be okay.Artie is an almost 6-month-old long-haired Chihuahua who weighs 9.5 pounds, and this handsome little blondie is overflowing with personality. He has the perfect combination of puppy spunk and sass, softened by an enormous capacity for cuddles, affection, and love. He is playful, curious, wonderfully social, and just plain delightful.Artie came to Critter Cavalry Rescue after his family realized that, despite everyone's best intentions, a young puppy was simply more responsibility than their circumstances allowed. His mom was working incredibly long hours to provide for her three children, and although the children had promised to help with the puppy, those promises didn't become reality. When it became clear that Artie needed more time, attention, training, and commitment than the family could provide, his mom did the right thing and asked for help. And that is where Artie's next chapter began.Today, this little boy is fully vetted and ready for a family who understands that puppies are a commitment and who will happily continue helping him become the wonderful adult dog he is destined to be. His biggest lesson right now is continuing his housetraining. Beyond that, he is an absolute joy.Artie has been around both big and small dogs and thinks everyone is a potential playmate. He never seems to have gotten the memo that some dogs might not want to be his best friend, because as far as Artie is concerned, there are no strangers—only friends he hasn't met yet. He has even attended three Puppy Yoga classes with children and adults, giving him wonderful opportunities to experience new people and environments. He is also a seasoned little traveler. Artie does beautifully in the car and isn't an excessive barker. In fact, he is surprisingly selective about what deserves his attention. One of our favorite things about him is his adorable habit of collecting his toys and carrying them back to his dog bed, as though he is carefully putting his little treasures away. And when the day is over, Artie knows how to settle down. He sleeps through the night in bed with his people and can be as quiet and calm as can be. There is something incredibly sweet about watching this energetic little puppy finally curl up beside you and simply enjoy being close. We expect Artie will grow to around 15 pounds, making him a wonderful size for someone looking for a small companion with a big personality. He has good recall, doesn't appear to be a runner, and would love having even a small securely fenced area where he can safely stretch his legs and enjoy some off-leash playtime. What Artie needs now is not just a home. He needs someone committed to finishing what was started for him. Someone dog-savvy who understands that a puppy still has lessons to learn. Someone who will laugh at his puppy antics, appreciate his little quirks, continue his housetraining, and give him the consistency and love that will help him grow into the exceptional dog we know he can be.We absolutely adore this little guy, and we want his next home to be forever.Artie is fostered in Tennessee and is ready to hop on the van and head north to the Northeast. Critter Cavalry Rescue transports every weekend, so his new family may not be as far away as they think. If Artie sounds like the little blondie you've been waiting for, contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to learn more.Artie has already had one change of plans in his young life. Now he deserves the one thing every puppy dreams of: a family who chooses him for keeps. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 25, 2026, 3:25 pm
