Story
LULU Breed: longhair chihuahuha Age: 9 years Weight: 12 pounds Adoption Fee: $325 Vetting Status: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and maintained on preventatives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is an energetic 9-year-old chihuahua mix who loves lounging with her people, when not busy securing her territory from intruders like those evil squirrels or dumb birds. If you’re looking for a dog that will be your constant companion, Lulu is the dog for you. She loves spending time with you, either at your feet or on your lap. She tolerates other dogs & even the occasional cat, but would rather be your only dog. Lap time & cuddles are a must. Large dogs or small humans are bleh & to be barked at until they go away. She is housetrained & OK on a leash, so an apartment would be acceptable to Lulu.... though she may make you carry her up any stairs (doesn't every princess?). If you think LULU is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Sophie is a sweet girl. As far as the behaviorial issues, she is very stubborn, which I am working on. She does bark when running into other dogs, wich I also have been working on. If it is ok the the other doge owner we will greet the other dog, and Sophie and the other dog will sniff each other, than when it is time for us to finish our walk Sophie gets anxious and starts barking and I am trying to figure out it she is wanting to play . She also has a nipping issue which I have been working on. I adopted her from the SPCA, and she is just to much for me. She needs playmates. She is very lovable, and I just want to make sure she gets a great loving home.

Female, 1 year old, 10lbs Good with: Dogs   Not tested with: Cats, Kids   Hi, I'm Fox! The nice folks at RDR will update my profile when they learn more about me. I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give!   Fox tested positive for heartworm and will need to undergo treatment once they arrive in the DMV, either while in foster or once they are with their adopter. RDR will cover the cost of the heartworm treatment through our vet partner. If the adopter would prefer to complete treatment at their vet, RDR will reimburse up to the treatment cost through our vet partner. During treatment, they need restricted exercise to short leashed walks only, and they need a fairly quiet home where they aren’t going to be overstimulated too much. Once the treatment is complete and they get the all clear from the vet, they will be able to live a totally normal/unrestricted life like any other dog. Dogs should be retested 9-12 months after treatment is completed and every year afterwards as part of their annual exam. Story
Male, 2 years old, 5lbs Not tested with: Dogs, Cats, Kids House trained: Mostly with an occasional accident Energy level: Low Noise level: Some Hi there, I'm Spots, a sweet and shy pup just looking for my special human to tag along with around the house. I absolutely love being near my person and finding solace in a comfy dog bed. Now, when it comes to being picked up, well, that's not really my thing. I prefer to keep my paws firmly on the ground. During my brief time with my foster, they noticed a couple of accidents, so I guess I could use a bit of training in that department. The whole housetraining thing is a work in progress, and I'm still figuring it out. As for activities, short walks are right up my alley, and I have a knack for being a bit of a couch potato. Low energy is more my style. I'm not too vocal, just a few sounds here and there to express myself. Some might say I'm a bit timid and skittish, but give me some time, and I'll warm up to you. Independence is my strong suit, and I value my personal space. If you're looking for a gentle and easygoing friend, I might just be the one for you. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can share all the love I’ve got to give! My foster guardian says: “ Spots is a cutie just looking for his human that he can follow around the house.” Likes: Being near my humans and a comfy bed Dislikes : Being picked up My ideal home: I think I'd be a great fit for seniors or those looking for a calm and laid-back companion. Apartment living suits me just fine, and a yard isn't a necessity. I'm still a bit unsure about how I feel around kids, other dogs, and cats, but with the right match, I'm sure I'll find my place.  Adoption Application : http://bit.ly/adoptrdr Foster Application :  https://rdr.formstack.com/forms/foster_app   Spots tested positive for heartworm and will need to undergo treatment once they arrive in the DMV, either while in foster or once they are with their adopter. Story
Male, 1 year old, 10lbs Good with: Dogs   Not good with: Kids   Not tested with: Cats   Hi, I'm Bear! I'm a sweet one year old chihuauha mix. I take some time to warm up to new people: I will nip sometimes if I am scared, especially if you touch my head. However, once I warm up, I'm sure to make a great companion. I shouldn't be in a home with young kids because of this, though.   The nice folks at RDR will update my profile when they learn more about me. What do you say? Do I get to bestow all that upon you? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster. Story
Roxy is a 14 year old, calm, low energy, fun loving dog that lives to cuddle . Sadly my wife is battling cancer, and with two babies in the house. Roxy is healthy and in good spirits. She requires a hydrolyzed protein diet (Hills HA - she has been on this since she was a pup) and is now blind in one eye. I am looking for a loving forever home to care for Roxy at the stage in life she is at.
