Story
Hi - My name is Earl and I am a new member of the AARF family. I am a Chihuahua Mix, but because I am brand new to these parts, there's not much more known about me or my personality just yet. If you check back a little later, I'm sure my foster parents will have a lot more information to post about me. If you have any questions, though, feel free to send an email to info@animalalliesrescue.org. or if you just think it's love at first sight, please fill out an adoption application at this site - http://www.animalalliesrescue.org and choose me - Earl!My adoption fee is $350.00. AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we've already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. We've been checked by a veterinarian, and we're up to date on age appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We've been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we've started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!

LULU Breed: longhair chihuahuha Age: 9 years Weight: 12 pounds Adoption Fee: $325 Vetting Status: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and maintained on preventatives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is an energetic 9-year-old chihuahua mix who loves lounging with her people, when not busy securing her territory from intruders like those evil squirrels or dumb birds. If you’re looking for a dog that will be your constant companion, Lulu is the dog for you. She loves spending time with you, either at your feet or on your lap. She tolerates other dogs & even the occasional cat, but would rather be your only dog. Lap time & cuddles are a must. Large dogs or small humans are bleh & to be barked at until they go away. She is housetrained & OK on a leash, so an apartment would be acceptable to Lulu.... though she may make you carry her up any stairs (doesn't every princess?). If you think LULU is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

TEXAS ADOPTION ONLY Grandpa Lucky I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 6 years old we think. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. She noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I have worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy is giving me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I get the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. Because of the medicines that I am taking to kill the worms in my heart, we are looking for a forever home in the San Antonio area so I wouldn't have to travel so far. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas)

Story
This is Buddy, and he can't wait to be yours! Buddy is a sweet young Pug mix that started life off as a feral, until he was caught by a sweet and loving foster. Buddy got the good life after that! Spoiled with treats and given so much love he's developed into a great dog. Currently, Buddy is on bedrest after completing heartworm treatment so he needs lots of love and patience while he's resting and recovering. He's a very friendly boy and does great with pretty much everyone. He would do best in a household with an active family. Buddy does tend to bark at smaller animals so he would do best in a household that doesn't have farm animals or other small pets. Dogs and cats he is fine with, though he has not had much experience with cats. Buddy would do well paired with another calm and confident dog. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Maximus is a sweet loving chihuahua mix breed. We adopted him from the Fort Worth animal shelter while living in Texas. We have since moved and now reside in Maryland. We have had Max for about 4 years now, he will be 7 years old on April 15, 2024, sadly we cannot keep him at our new apartment complex. We are passionate about finding him a new loving home as he has been shown nothing but love and affection since living with us.

Chanel's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "Pet is currently disabled, been to 2 specialists.  She has no broken bones and/or Lyme disease.  They are not sure what's causing her to not be able to walk." Chanel's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Chanel hasn't lived with children, her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "She allowed kids to pet her and her tail wagged". Chanel's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Chanel has lived with dogs, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "She is friendly with other friendly dogs.  She is scared of aggressive dogs". Meet Foxy PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. Foxy is a lot of fun in a tiny package. About 10 pounds, estimated to be about 2 years old. Foxy loves to play with dogs, toys, sticks, and her person. She also loves to run, and is quite fast. She is a little shy with new people, but once she warms up she loves to cuddle. She especially loves her head to be rubbed. She would love to have a doggy playmate, or lots of time with dog friends, as she is very social and playful. Potty trained, but will need reinforcement in a new environment. Does well walking on a leash. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $425, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter prior to the contracted date.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 7-9 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or, if they choose, to send verification from their own vet (at the adopter's own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Marcelina was so scared and shutdown upon arrival at her foster home but is making slow, steady progress. She is very attached to her foster and likes to be pet but does NOT like to be picked up. A small dog companion would be a great idea for her in her forever home and could help her to gain trust and confidence. She will need a patient, experienced adopter. Marcelina is very curious but very cautious and not a fan of the cold! She will use potty pads or go outside if weather is decent. Once out there, she likes to romp and spin around! No small kids for this girl. She is untested with cats.

At a petite 8 lbs, this little guy may be small in stature, but he's big on affection and charm. Tinker is happiest when he's with his human, soaking up all the attention and affection he can get. He has typical Chihuahua tude for those Chi lovers. And have we mentioned the cutest little underbite ever?! He's working on house training, sleeps through the night in his crate and walks well on a leash. Tinker is currently living with a trainer. Unfortunately he will need a home with no children Tinker is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.

Story
A sweet, sassy senior - that's me! At 10 years old, I know all the rules (and follow most of them), but I'm still young enough to enjoy a nice walk and meet new people. I'm housebroken, will come when you call me, and if I'm in the mood, I'll sit for a treat. I've spent a bit of time with cats and coexist fine with them, and I've met small kids on my walks and do fine but haven't really spent time with them. I'm also interested in other dogs - sometimes a bit too interested - but I respond well to corrections. I get a monthly injection for my itchy skin, but I'm really pretty lowkey! I like to be where my humans are, I like to take my time on walks so I can smell everything, and when we come home I'm happy to relax on the couch getting pets and belly rubs. If you are a chill person or family, and have room on your couch and wet dog food in your fridge, we might be a good fit!If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website -www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application - and choose me, Moxie! My adoption fee is $150 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. Dallas is an amazing dog with a lot of love to give. He has the heart of a young pup and loves to burn off energy outside. He loves children and adults; he truly enjoys being laid up under a human and being rubbed. Dallas is the dog that will never leave your side. Dallas is a 5-year-old Pomeranian, that is puppy pad trained. Occasionally, he may have an accident but primarily goes on pad. When he's outside he sometimes chooses to relieve himself so please keep bags on hand. Dallas loves going to different stores such as walmart, petsmart, and Giant (in a travel bag of course). I am looking to rehome Dallas because I am currently pregnant and preparing to move to a new state. Dallas requires a lot of attention and would do well in a home with someone who works remotely or someone who is retired.
