Story
Meet Kevin!Kevin may be small, but he’s mighty when it comes to loyalty. He came to us with some behavioral history of being very protective of his person — acting as a little bodyguard who didn’t love sharing his owner’s attention. If you’re looking for a dog-friendly dog who also takes his role as your personal security very seriously, Kevin might be your guy.Since being with us, Kevin has shown no guarding or protection issues, and he has been settling in nicely. That said, it’s important to remember that dogs can behave differently in a shelter environment than they do in a home, so adopters should be mindful and ready to provide structure, guidance, and clear boundaries as Kevin continues to adjust.Kevin would do best in a home that appreciates a confident, spunky dog with a big personality in a small package — one who will make sure you feel like the safest person in the world. With the right match, Kevin has the potential to be an incredibly devoted companion.Kevin's adoption fee is $150, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! Story
Meet Fauna 💚Fauna’s journey hasn’t been an easy one, but her resilience shines through every day. She was found by a kind Good Samaritan on the side of the road, appearing as though she had been struck by a car. Exhausted, hurting, and scared, she was brought to us for help. Our team quickly got her to a veterinarian in Annapolis, where it was confirmed that she had indeed been hit. Thanks to proper care, love, and time, Fauna is healing well — but her heart needs healing too. Because of her past trauma, she can take a little while to warm up to new people. Once she trusts you, though, her loyal and alert nature shines. She’ll let you know if someone is coming to the house, making her a great little “alarm system” with a big heart.Fauna does wonderfully with dogs, cats, and would do best in a home with kids over 12 who can understand her need for space and gentle handling. She’s looking for a home that will give her patience, understanding, and a safe place to feel secure again. If you’re ready to help a brave girl learn to trust and love again, Fauna is waiting for you. 💕Fauna's adoption fee is $150, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! Story
House trained: Mostly with an occasional accident Energy level: Medium Noise level: Quiet My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Coco is that shes just THE CUTEST tiny baby! Likes: Snoozing, dozing, lazing about, relaxing   Hi, Im Coco! My nickname is Coco Bean, because Im sweeter than chocolate, and as tiny as a baby bean! Im 7 pounds of love and cuteness, and Im so excited to find my forever family! As any distinguished Chihuahua does, I have some specific preferences. I like to be picked up in a certain way (dont worry, youll learn how), and I like to have my harness put on in a certain way, and I like to sniff certain smells on certain routes on my walks! Some might call me a diva, but my foster mom calls me a pint-sized bundle of cuddles and says that Im the best girl ever and so easy to take care of. I promise I really am! Just a few quick walks a day are all the exercise I need, and Im very laid back and well-behaved at home. Im even crate trained, and fine to stay home alone when my people go to the office. Im looking for a family who wants a snugglebug of a pup. I like to spend most of my time resting and napping, preferably in someones bed, with my humans close by. I do get the zoomies on occasion, and like to run around on the bed with my toys. But after a quick play break, its back to napping for me! If youre looking to add a whole bunch of sweetness with a little bit of spice to your life, I might just be your cup of teaerCoco!!! Apply to adopt me today! Coco has a luxating patella and is on heart medication. Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!
