Story
My husband and I purchased Rosie from Rescue Inc (Great Dog Rescue, New England) on Nov. 17, 2020. She is age 6 Rosie is very intelligent but being half chihuahua, she has a loud bark. Barks mostly at passing cars/trucks, especially while walking. I live in a 55 and over community so there is constant traffic and people walking by. She is a Rescue from Tennessee and has had a difficult traumatic past, with injuries to her face. She is very protective especially with me ever since my husband died 3 years ago. I am hoping she can have more training with her new owner;. She loves meeting new people but gets overly excited; I have very few rugs in my home due to her habit of piddling a bit from her excitement especially with new people. although she is house and puppy pad trained. I use puppy pads in my enclosed porch but usually she will wait til I get home to pee or poop. She has a large crate in my living room and that is where she sleeps through the night or when I’m out.

Story
Hey! My name is Jack. I am a young 1-2 year old chi/min pin mix… I think. I prefer to think that I am just a small GreyHound! I love to run. Walking is not something I understand! I love to run around the yard, the house, pretty much everywhere I go. I do it at full speed. I am almost 100% potty trained but I have had a few accidents in the house. They may not have been my fault but it did happen. Mommy and daddy were not paying attention to me, so maybe it was their fault. Or maybe it was the cat! I am a bit mouthy. I don’t bite, except the vet. I just like hands and fingers to nibble on. We are working on it and I am getting better. I will sleep in a crate but it isn’t my favorite place to sleep. I will let you know for a minute then fall fast asleep. If I sleep in the bed, I sleep through the night and wont move an inch!! My perfect adopter will be someone that is active and has a fenced in yard. I am small but I can really jump. 4 foot… Easy! Make it 5 foot! If you need a hiking buddy or a running partner, I am your boy. Cats?? Not a problem! Kids. No problem but I may jump on them. I would even love to have another dog friend to chase around. My current dog sister is older and she has a bad attitude!! So if you think I would fit into your family, reach out. By the way, I am an excellent kisser! Please apply for me at www.coaldr.org Jack's adoption fee is $300 and he is being fostered in Greenville, SC. We are able to transport Jack to New England for an additional fee.

Story
If you are looking for a little loyal companion, Gunner is your guy. He’s 15 lbs of snuggles and kisses. He is great with other dogs, eats well, walks well on a leash, and appears to be housebroken (we haven’t seen snow yet, so that may not be true 100% of the time LOL). We do not have small children, but with his normal small dog nervousness, it may be best for him not to go to a home with them. Gunner is approximately six years old, and up to date on all his vetting. He would do best in a home with another pup, and a fenced in yard. He can be a bit skittish (just like a lot of little chihuahus), and prefers women to men (he doesn’t have a real problem with men, he’s just not as initially welcoming to them). Gunner was surrendered due to reasons beyond his control, when his owner lost her house and couldn’t keep him and his doggy siblings anymore. He is a wonderful little dog, and whoever adopts him will be very lucky indeed!! Pleased apply for Gunner at www.coaldr.org. He is located in Massachusetts & available for a meet & greet to approved applicants

Story
Meet Mighty Mouse!Mighty Mouse is another pup that's going to need a very special someone that understands how particular, bossy, and sassy chihuahuas can be. Mighty Mouse is about two years old, absolutely gorgeous (as you can see) and also very, very deaf. VERY deaf. This means he can't really hear himself bark so he tends to bark loudly and incessantly when he gets riled up so shared walls/apartment complexes may not be the best environment for this shouty little man. He's a little under 14lbs but what he lacks in size he makes up for with an attitude the size of Texas. He takes a bit to warm up to people but once he does, he definitely plays favorites. He does well with other dogs but not with cats. He's sweet with people (once he likes you) and loves going for walks. He also loves his treats/snacks and likes to bury them and then forget they exist. With the right amount of sweet talking, Mighty Mouse will be your best friend...but you need to be willing to GO SLOW with him. He isn't the kind of dog that you can just swoop down and scoop up right away because he can and will throw hands while screaming vulgarities (probably). If you've had a difficult dog in the past and are used to the attitude and the judgmental side eye, Mighty Mouse might be the guy for you. We're looking for an adult only home (older teenagers should be fine as well) that has the patience and the drive to put in the effort with him...because he is incredible once you melt that icy Fight Club exterior.

Story
HEATHER 🦊❤️Looking for a fun, smart, and active sidekick? Meet Heather — a beautiful Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her energy!Heather is an athletic, intelligent young pup who’s as playful as she is striking. She’ll have your neighbors wondering if you brought home a little fox — but don’t be fooled by her looks, she’s all dog and all personality.Heather absolutely loves to play fetch, go for walks, and ride in the car to watch the world go by. Once she trusts you, she’s affectionate and loyal — always happy to soak up attention from her favorite people. She can be wary of strangers and needs time to warm up, especially with new people or dogs. With patience and structure, she quickly forms strong bonds. Heather’s a smart cookie who thrives with consistent training and clear boundaries. She already knows basic cues like “sit,” “paw,” and even goes potty on command! She’s currently working on leash manners and can be reactive when she sees dogs or people up close, so a confident, experienced adopter committed to continued training will help her succeed.Heather would do best in an adult home or one with kids 12+ and no cats. A fenced yard and plenty of playtime would be a big bonus for this energetic girl. She’s not a fit for a first-time dog owner, but for someone experienced and active, she’ll be an incredible companion — full of love, fun, and adventure. She needs a home with another dog with her energy level, she loves to play and she longs for companionship. If you live in an apartment setting or in a busy area she is not the right fit, she will bark at noises or things she see's going by a window. This is not a negative about her its just who she is and the barking does stop with correction. If you’re ready to invest time, patience, and training into a sweet, smart, and spirited pup, Heather will reward you with loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of love! Story
Meet Fortune Cookie! Fortune Cookie is ready to tell your future, and it just might include her by your side. Fortune Cookie is bonded with her best friend, Snoopy, they have a close relationship and would benefit from going home together. Cookie is very sweet and gentle, she is rather shy with new people. The good news is that there’s an easy way to break down Cookie’s walls and earn her trust - treats, and lots of them. Give her a little time and a tasty snack and she’ll be your little shadow and best friend. Since she did come from a home with limited exposure to the outside world, Fortune Cookie is not house trained and has no experience being on leash. She would do best in a home that either has a secure yard or is comfortable using pee pads until a time where she is comfortable going for walks. Cookie and Snoopy are in our special adoption program, if you are interested in them please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and email cshamgochian@parl.org to set up a meet and greet
