Story
Meet Pepita!Pepita needs a very, very special home with a lot of patience and free time to invest into her. At only nine months old, Pepita is still very much just a baby. She lacks confidence, she hasn't been socialized much, and the result is that she is absolutely terrified of the world and almost everything in it. She's only 8lbs so everything is much bigger than she is which can be understandably petrifying...especially when you don't understand how the world works just yet. We're looking for a calm, quiet, adult only home without a lot of comings and goings. We're looking for someone with experience with scared little dogs, someone who has patience, and someone who has the time to spend with her. Progress with Pepita can often look like one step forward and two steps back. She is not leash trained, she WILL nip if you do something she doesn't like but it's more like...she puts her teeth on you without actually applying pressure. Of course, there is ALWAYS the potential that she COULD actually bite...because anything with a mouth can bite. When Pepita learns to trust you? She is the quirkiest, silliest little bean. She bounces up and down like a reindeer, spins in circles, rubs herself all over your legs, and tries to hop into your lap every chance she gets. She immediately goes into vibrate mode like her tiny body just can't contain all of her excitement. She gives the shyest little kisses and just wants to be with you. It will take some time and effort to get to that point, but it's SO worth it.Pepita does...okay with other dogs. She does best with lower energy dogs similar in size to her. She's fine with cats and doesn't really seem to know what they are but would 1000% be terrified of a grumpy cat. If you think you can be Pepita's safe place...we would love for you to come meet her.To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Story
Miguel is a charming two-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into his tiny eight-pound frame. This little guy is playful, affectionate, and happiest when he’s spending time with his people or romping around the backyard. Miguel loves to run, wrestle with his dog friends, and entertain himself with toys, making him a fun and engaging companion. When playtime is over, he’s more than happy to curl up and cuddle with his human—his sweet, loving side truly shines once he feels comfortable. Miguel forms a strong bond with his person and truly loves his human. Because of this, he doesn’t necessarily want to share all of that attention and so would do best as the only dog in the home and in a household without young children. While he enjoys playing with other dogs and does well during social interactions, regular doggy playdates would be a wonderful way for him to enjoy canine companionship without feeling overwhelmed. Miguel is crate trained and almost fully potty trained, continuing to improve with consistency. He can be vocal when he hears noises or unfamiliar people, so a quieter home environment would be ideal—apartment living would not be the best fit for him. He is looking for a home with a fenced in yard and ideally as the only dog. Miguel is ready to find a forever family who will appreciate both his playful spirit and his deeply loyal, snuggly side. Miguel is currently being fostered in Rhode Island and is available for adoption throughout Northeastern states. *All breed listings are educated guesses and not guaranteed*

Story
These two adorable, well-mannered ladies never imagined they’d be starting over… but after the heartbreaking loss of their owner, they now find themselves searching for a soft place to land for their golden years. They’re currently safe and resting comfortably with our friends at Saving Paws Rescue in Mississippi, and when we heard their story, we knew we had to help them find the loving homes they deserve.✨ What we know so far:Senior gals with gentle, easygoing personalitiesLow-key and happy to just relax by your sideLiving peacefully with multiple dogs – no issues at allCats don’t seem to bother them eitherSweet, calm, and just looking for comfort and kindnessWhile they’ve lived together, they do not appear strongly bonded, so we are open to placing them separately. That said… we would absolutely love to see them stay together and are even offering a special “two-for-one” adoption for someone willing to open their heart and home to both. 💕There is truly something special about senior dogs. They don’t ask for much—just a cozy spot, a gentle touch, and someone to love. In return, they bring a quiet kind of joy, gratitude, and companionship that’s hard to put into words. If you’ve ever thought about giving a senior dog a chance… these girls might just be the ones to show you how meaningful that decision can be. ❤️Name: Malachi & OzoBreed: Chihuahua/Crossbreed   (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: FemaleAge: 10 years  (estimated)Weight: 10.Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $500 (for both dogs)  (includes transport fee of $150 per dog )                       Location of dog currently:    MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet Ms. Story and Mr. Caspian, two precious Chihuahuas whose hearts are as closely connected as their lives have always been. This devoted little pair came from a breeder/hoarding situation where they lived alongside many other dogs. Through it all, Story and Caspian had each other, and over time they formed a deep bond, relying on one another for comfort, reassurance, and confidence. Because of that special connection, they are looking for a forever home where they can continue their journey side by side.Due to their unsocialized past, they can be a bit shy when meeting new people. But once they begin to feel safe and secure, their gentle & loving personalities start to shine through. In their foster home, they are learning to live in a loving household. Their foster family is working with them to help them build trust and discover that people can be kind, patient, and caring. Story & Caspian will thrive in a quiet patient home that understands they need time and patience to fully blossom. A calm environment and a consistent routine is needed for them to feel their best. But for someone willing to offer them kindness, consistency, and a peaceful environment, the reward will be incredible. Witnessing dogs transform into confident and happy pups is truly an amazing experience.Open your heart to this couple, and you won’t just be adopting two little dogs—you’ll be welcoming two deeply devoted companions who will bring quiet love and loyalty into your life.Name: Story Breed: Chihuahua  Sex: Female Age: 6 years  (estimated) Weight: 12.0 Spayed/Neutered: Yes Vaccinations: Up to date Heartworm: Negative on recent testing. Story
Annie Provac is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    They say the best things come in small packages, and Annie is here to prove it! Annie may be tiny but her heart has endless room to love. She adores being with her people and does well with other dogs. Annie is a pint-sized girl who has a lot to say! She takes her job as greeter and neighborhood watch very seriously. Annie is doing great with her house training and leash training; she prefers wearing a harness.  Annie would prefer someone who is home often or another companion to keep her company. Annie loves to go for walks. **Due to clinic delays: this puppy will be available for adoption with the collection of an additional $100 spay/neuter voucher deposit, which will be refunded upon receipt of successful procedure at our partnering clinic.   If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Double the Love: Meet Jojo & Rudy! Some friendships are simply meant to last a lifetime, and that's exactly the case with Jojo and Rudy. This sweet senior bonded pair is searching for a loving home where they can continue life's journey together. From the moment you meet them, it's easy to see their wonderful personalities. Jojo greets new friends with a wiggly body and happy tail, while Rudy may let out a few alert barks at first—but don't let that fool you! He quickly melts into affection and loves leaning in for pets once he knows you're a friend. Together, they enjoy leisurely walks, taking their time to sniff, explore, and appreciate the world around them. These two are looking for a home with teens and older. They have successfully lived with cats in the past, but they made need a slow introduction since it has been a while since cohousing with any kitties. They are dog selective, so any potential canine companions should be introduced thoughtfully to ensure everyone is a good match. Rudy is also living with cataracts and blindness. While his vision is limited, he continues to enjoy spending time with his favorite people and navigating familiar surroundings with confidence. His future family should be prepared to help him adjust to a consistent environment and understand that his vision loss doesn't stop him from enjoying life—it just means he experiences the world a little differently. Jojo and Rudy have spent years building a special bond, and they're hoping to find a family willing to open their hearts to both of them. If you're looking for two loyal companions who will reward your kindness with unconditional love, this deserving senior duo is ready to fill your home with warmth, comfort, and twice the companionship. If you are interested in Jojo and Rudy, please call us here at (401)846-8276. You are welcome to stop by our Animal Care and Adoption Center here in Middletown, RI to meet with them at any time. Feel free to visit our website, www.potterleague.org, for more information on adopting from us.
