Story
I’m Frito, a chihuahua/dachsund mix who is looking for a new chapter in my young life.I’m a small, energetic guy, about 23 pounds, and people say I’m spunky and funny. I came to the Humane Society of York County from York County Animal Services. My estimated birth date is May 2022.I need some time to gain trust when I meet new people. But once I get to know you, I really show you the love!I’m a very good leash walker, and I know “sit.” I have a side job at HSYC modeling costumes, too!I need to be the only pet in my forever home, and I would do best in a home without young children. If you’re interested in a smaller pup with an energetic personality, let’s meet!If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
I’m Bloopers, an adorable little tot looking for some stability in a loving home!I’m a chihuahua mix, about 10-15 pounds, and I’m back at the Humane Society of York County, returned by my adopters at no fault of my own. I originally came to HSYC as a stray when someone found me running in traffic. I’m a youngster – my estimated birth date is November 2024.I’m a bit of a velcro dog and like to stick close with my humans. I’m also good with other dogs!I can be a little nervous in uncertain surroundings, and I would love to have some consistency and stability in a forever home. If you have a lot of love to give a small fellow, please come meet me!If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

Story
Meet Judy Gemstone! At 18 lbs, this little lady is the perfect combination of sassy and sweet. She is 6 years old, and while she enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home, she spends most of her time laying on the couch, preferably with her people and fur siblings. She came to us with her two brothers after their owner passed away. Judy takes a little extra time to gain trust, but once she does she will love you unconditionally. Judy is potty trained on a good schedule, crate trained, and does great on walks and car rides. She is the perfect passenger princess and is a great size to bring on errands or roadtrips. She also gets along with other dogs and played in the small dog play group at the shelter previous to foster life. While slow to warm up during her staycations away from her siblings, she really just loves companionship and will be successful in a home with humans that love her and a dog sibling to help continue building her confidence. --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Jingle is an 8-year-old, 22-pound mixed-breed boy—a perfect “best guess” blend of cuteness and charm. While we’re not quite sure what breeds make up his unique look, we are sure he’s a gentle soul who’s ready for a peaceful new chapter. Jingle hasn’t always known the care and consistency every dog deserves, and as a result, he does have some ongoing medical needs. The good news? With his medications, he’s doing well and feeling much better. What he needs most now isn’t excitement or adventure—it’s stability, kindness, and love. This sweet senior would thrive in a quite, low-stress home, a cozy spot to relax and feel safe, a person who understands senior dogs and is committed to his continued care.  Jingle is looking for someone who will see past his history and focus on who he is today: a loyal, grateful companion who just wants to spend his days being cared for and loved. If you’re searching for a calm, easygoing buddy to share quiet moments with and make your house feel a little warmer, Jingle may be the perfect fit. Sometimes the best gifts really do come in small, senior packages. If you are interested in adopting Jingle, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **December 31, 2025, 1:45 pm
