Story
**PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT WHEN REQUESTING AN APPLICATION!!** 9-9-25: "My brother got his new home/family already, and while I am happy for him, I can't help but be a little sad for me, as no one is asking to meet me. You will love me once you meet me! Please contact the rescue so we can make that happen!" 8-19-25: "Hello everyone, my name is SHERLOCK, and I am going to tell you all about me! I came to this great rescue when my Foster Mom got the plea from the local County Shelter to possibly take my brother and me in. You see, we ended up at the shelter when our owner surrendered us, due to less than desirable living conditions in our home. I was just 1 of about 39 other dogs, and we all ended up at the shelter. Now, I am the handsomest Chihuahua mix you will find, and I weigh in at 12 pounds, am about 5 years old, neutered, micro chipped, HW negative and had all my vaccines! I do love other dogs, and to explore/play outside, so a fenced yard would be perfect for me! Mom does not know how I would be with cats or children, as there are none of those in my temporary home. My house and leash manners are great considering my previous life! My crate was wet the first morning with my new Mom, but in my defense, everything was new to me but going forward I have been dry!!" "Well, I hope that I have intrigued you to want to meet me--I will be standoffish at first, but I do warm up after a short bit. So, please understand I may not take right to you, but trust me, once I feel safe and secure, I'm your pal! Let my Mom know if you have any questions, or would like an application to meet me!" "Until we meet, have a PAWSome day!" Love, SHERLOCK **GOOD VERIFIABLE VET REFERENCE REQUIRED**

Story
Available mid- December but you can apply now! Meet Laurie Laurie is a 2½-year-old Chihuahua/terrier mix with a sweet, fox-like face and a gentle, shy nature. She warms up slowly, but once she trusts you, she becomes a total cuddle bug who loves blankets, lap time, and even offers her little paws for pets. She’s been great with other dogs and did well around a 4-year-old child. Laurie sleeps quietly through the night (bed or crate), rarely barks, eats well, and takes her meds easily. She’s still gaining confidence, so leash walking hasn’t started yet, but she does well with a steady potty routine. Laurie would do well as an only dog or with a friendly companion—she just needs a patient, loving home where she can blossom.   Applications can be filled out at http://www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt!  Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications. We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home.  Please only apply if you are serious about adopting.  Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you.The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. She loves warm laps, cozy blankets, and supervising her humans from the comfort of her favorite pillow or in her crate. Story
Available mid- December but you can apply now! Meet Donna! Donna is a 2½-year-old tan-and-white Chihuahua with a bright, happy personality and a whole lot of love to give. She adores being with her person and greets her foster excitedly, ready for treats, attention, and playtime. Energetic and fun-loving, Donna enjoys running, playing, and showing off by standing on her hind legs for treats—especially peanut butter. She settles in beautifully once she’s tired and is just as happy to snuggle on the couch or curl up in a bed. She’s been great with other dogs and did well around a 4-year-old child. Donna has had excellent potty habits, sleeps well in a crate or on the bed, doesn’t bark much, and rode calmly in the car. Sweet, playful, and affectionate, Donna is ready for a home that loves a little energy and a lot of cuddles.
