Story
I adopted Kilo from ACCT Philly shortly after his 5th birthday (DOB 6/8/17). Kilo is outgoing and playful like a pup, however, sometimes he can be guarded. He’s anxious in new environments and when touched by strangers. He’s good w/ home baths, however, going to groomers has been difficult (especially nail and oral care). He has a bite history. He was doing good for almost 1.5yrs. However, bit a groomer Oct 2024 for pulling his leash. Add info: He snuggles on the couch and has been a great comfort. He’ll spend time in a crate when you’re away. He will use pads (currently I have his outside his crate), though sometimes he may have an accident. He enjoys chew toys. I’d like to rehome Kilo so that I can help raise my young godson. He’s a good boy who would benefit from having an experienced owner who could provide some TLC, in a home w/ no young children or other pets. Enclosed outdoor space would be a plus. You’ll get a harness, food, bowls, carrier + new crate.

Story
My friend's family picked them up from someone selling them at a gas station. I'm uncertain of their age, likely more than 10 years old. They like to pee on things when no one is looking, so they need to be walked a lot and not be left alone with things you don't want pee on. They will howl all day if left alone. I've only seen them rip apart underwear when left alone. They will eat q-tips and tissues. They will beg you for attention and love to sit in your lap while you watch movies. They walk slow with their tiny legs, so you must be patient. They don't play fetch or anything, they just demand your love. They are comfortable with strangers stopping to pet them in public as long as you are right there with them, and they've never bitten anyone. They've only ever barked on walks at people who run past them. They bark if they think you are hurting someone, like if you move quickly towards someone. Other than that they don't bark at other dogs, they just howl non stop when left alone.

Story
Meet Pippin, a resilient 2-year-old chi mix on her journey to healing. Once living in fear, she's now ready to find a loving home that understands her past and can help her blossom.Pippin has had a challenging past; she was used for breeding at a young age, and her previous owners prioritized profit over her well-being. Thankfully, those days are behind her. We are committed to ensuring that she will no longer be used for breeding, as she deserves a life filled with love and care. When she was saved, she was living outside in a dog house, lacking the socialization and human contact that every dog deserves. This unfortunate start has led to some behavioral challenges, particularly around food and possessions, as well as deep-seated fears stemming from her past abuse.  Her body was covered in scabs and infections when we rescued her, but after months of dedicated medical care, she is transforming into the beautiful girl she was always meant to be. With one blue eye and one brown eye, Pippin is not just charming; she's also learning to trust again. We are looking for a loving home that can continue working through her past traumas and provide her with the patience and understanding she needs. While Pippin is selective about her dog friends, she can play nicely with smaller, playful dogs. In addition to her affectionate side, Pippin has a playful spirit. She absolutely adores her toys and can spend hours entertaining herself with them. However, due to her fear of children, we believe it’s best for her future home to be child-free.Pippin is a sweetheart who absolutely adores being the center of attention. Once she gets to know you, she becomes incredibly affectionate. We are looking for a compassionate home that can continue working through her past traumas. Past experience with abused dogs is a plus.Pippin has been spayed and is now up to date on all her vaccinations. She is also microchipped and currently on heartworm preventive medication, ensuring she stays healthy and safe as she transitions into this new chapter of her life.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! Story
Meet little Radar. He is in search of a new home after his parents reached out to us heartbroken because he is just too much with their new child who has started walking. It makes him a little nervous and he acts out.    Radar is- up to date on all shots and neutered.    He is about 5-6 years old and 10 lbs. If youre looking for a long car travel buddy, he may not be the best one for you because he gets a little nervous in the car. But a short ride he can do. Radar is still a bit leash reactive but LOVES walks and is so fast. He loves to run in circles in our backyard. He will bark if he sees another dog on a leash while he is out walking. That is a small dog for you. Radar adores people and is a true love bug. He gets super excited and jumpy when new people enter the house, but not in an aggressive way, just very excitable. He quickly calms down, and once he’s calm he will nuzzle in the lap of any person. He wants to be AS CLOSE to his people as possible when lounging, often scratching at my sweatshirt because (not kidding) he wants to get inside of it and cuddle.  That is how sweet and loving he is. He is incredibly food motivated and reminds you it’s almost dinner time by barking at you.He is fully house trained, but needs to be put outside when it’s cold otherwise he will sneak and poop in the house. This is only because he hates the cold. He can sit, and he knows other commands as well but struggles to listen at times, again just like a small dog. If you think you can give this little one the home and life he deserves, please fill out an application on our website bcaaofnj.orgInterested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! Story
Meet Leonard! Leonard is an adorable 7-year-old, 8-pound chihuahua looking for a loving home! He was not doing well in a local shelter and was facing euthanasia. We just had to save him - I mean do you see how cute he is! He does have his quirks, but he makes up for it with how loving and loyal he is. He gives the true, deep chihuahua love that only Chihuahua lovers can understand Leonard is a very typical chihuahua—feisty, full of personality, and totally unafraid to let you know what he wants. He’s got that classic chihuahua confidence packed into his petite frame. He can be protective of his home and people, especially when strangers come in, but he absolutely adores his people and loves to be close to them. Though initially shy, Leonard warms up quickly—especially if treats are involved! He is very food and treat motivated. He walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides, where he loves gazing out the window. He is both house and crate trained, though he may mark in a new place at first—but a quick correction gets him right back on track. This tiny boy is fully vetted and recently had a dental, so his teeth are sparkling clean. He gets along great with other small dogs. Big dogs scare him, but he’ll likely warm up with time and patience.Leonard will do best in a home with teens or adults only. He enjoys chilling in a sunny window watching the world go by or snuggling in your lap while you watch TV. If you’re looking for a small companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Leonard could be your perfect match!
