Story
Local adoption preferred - Beckett needs fearful/shy dog class, which we will provide. Beckett needs an understanding, patient home that will give him time to adjust and trust. Meet Beckett!!  Approx 5 years old and 10 lbs. LIKES:  Beckett is pretty much a happy go lucky guy. He loves car rides, being outside, going for walks, playing with his beagle brother, playing with the cats.  Loves getting a bath.  Can be extremely timid, nervous in new settings.  Will need to continue to work on building his confidence. DISLIKES:  New settings scare him. New people scare him, he's better with women. Once he is comfortable, he is easy going. PERSONALITY:  Great, outgoing personality once he is comfortable.  Nervous in new settings.  If people show kindness, he will crawl right up on their lap for a cuddle. TEMPERAMENT:  Goes with the flow. ENERGY LEVEL:  Medium, Loves to play, but also likes to lay on fosters lap or in his bed for a nap.  Not high strung. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES:  Being wherever you are, he's happy.  Foster has to put his bed near her when she's on the computer...he whines if she doesn't.  He loves to play with his beagle foster brother, and tries to play with the cats, who are about the size that he is.  Sometimes the cats will play, sometimes not.  Loves to be outside roaming around in the fenced in dog yard and laying in the sun.  Absolutely loves treats. FAVORITE TREAT:  Foster mom gives her dogs chewy Milkbone treats.  He loves those and gets one whenever he goes out to go potty. EATING SCHEDULE:  He gets dry food with a tiny bit of canned food twice a day.  Once around 9 AM and then 5 PM. GOOD WITH CATS, DOGS, KIDS OVER 6?  Foster mom has cats, other dogs, but no kids.  She would assume that he would be ok with older kids..as long as they respect him.  HOUSE TRAINED:  Foster would say about 85%. He wasn't house-trained when she got him, but he's been working on it.  She is home all day, so he goes outside about every 2-3 hours.  He would occasionally 'mark' in the house, but since he's been neutered, that has stopped. SIGNALS TO GO OUT:   No, but as mentioned before, he goes out with the other dogs every 2-3 hours, and he is good with that. CRATE TRAINED:  Yes.  Foster mom keeps him in a crate at night.  No problems at all.  No anxiety.  Doesn't do anything in the crate over night.  In the morning, he's let out of the crate and goes out to go potty.  Then, its breakfast time.  When the foster leaves the house for an extended period of time, she puts Beckett in his crate.  He has chewed a few things he found, IE dry erase marker, wooden clothespin, computer cord.. so for his own protection when she is not home, he stays in his crate. CHALLENGES:  None really besides his anxiety/fear.  He's learning every day to be the best dog ever. MEDICAL ISSUES:  None.  Clean bill of health from the vet.  He does have a deformed front paw, that is a birth defect.  He has no problem walking with it at all.  Doesn't bother him.  He does have a very slight limp because of the deformity, but it doesn't stop him from playing and running around in the back yard.  May be a candidate for a joint supplement earlier than later. THE BEST HOME:  Beckett would do best in a home with a stable base, where he could get used to a daily routine.  He would love to have a fur brother or sister to play with.  Possibly a home where someone is home the biggest part of the day, to continue his potty training and just to cuddle with him! Noisy, active home would not be ideal, so no young kids. Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1 1/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue. ADOPTION FEE's: Puppies under 6 months:  $199.00 Adults:  $150.00 Seniors (over 7 yrs):  $99.00 If you are interested in one of our dogs please fill out an application: https://form.jotform.com/193425528783165

Story
FENCE REQUIRED / ANOTHER DOG REQUIRED NAME:  Razzle AGE:  Approximately 3-4 years old WEIGHT: 7 1/2ish lbs. LIKES:  Squeaky toys, playing fetch, playing let’s-squeak-this-toy-together (she may have invented this game), aggressive snuggling (under blankets, on your hip, on your chest, on your lap, under your chin, smushed in next to you… she is an expert), all the treats, zoomies with her dog friends, chasing squirrels, and greeting her people when they come home. DISLIKES:  She is skittish with strangers until she is given a chance to warm up to them, very typical of a chihuahua. She doesn’t like nail trims or bitter cold weather. PERSONALITY:  Ummm, clingy? If you’re in the house, she must be with you. If you go to a room without her (how dare you!?), she welcomes you back as if you’ve been gone for days.  She will follow you everywhere and be your best friend forever. TEMPERAMENT:  Razzle is a happy girl with very sweet temperament. While it may take a couple visits with strangers to warm up, she has not met a person she dislikes. She is sensitive to correction. A firm “no” may have her pinning her ears back and giving you “I’m so sorry” big chihuahua eyes, which instantly melt your heart and have you questioning how you can ever tell her no for anything. ENERGY LEVEL:  She has typical high energy for a young chihuahua, loving to run in the yard or house, playing fetch for 10-15 minutes at a time. After playtime, she is content to settle down for a nap until it’s time to play again. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES:  Fetch, squeaking toys, zoomies, lots of snuggles, napping under blankets, going for walks or car rides to stores. FAVORITE TREAT:  Any dog treats plus strawberries, blueberries, and raw broccoli. EATING SCHEDULE:  Twice a day - 6am and 6pm - plus several small treats throughout the day, usually after coming inside from going potty. GOOD WITH CATS, DOGS, KIDS OVER 6?  Razzle isn't good with cats.  She is fostered with other small dogs and has been just fine with them.  She loves to play chase-zoomies with other dogs. We have not seen her around children, but she would probably do best with kids at least 10 yrs old as she can get underfoot, will sometimes connect teeth to fingers when playing tug, and is skittish with quick, unpredictable movements. HOUSE TRAINED:  Yes, and needs to be taken out on a schedule. She does tend to get easily distracted outside, so often needs to potty on-leash before she is allowed to run, sniff and play. SIGNALS TO GO OUT:   No she does not. CRATE TRAINED:  Yes.  Crated to sleep at night without any issues. Also crated when no one is home. Because she is young and likes to destroy her toys (and sometimes eat pieces she chews off), it’s safest to keep her crated when not being supervised. She does like a frozen peanut butter kong to keep her occupied if left for longer periods during the day. CHALLENGES:  She can be a flight risk as she will dart through a door - or even push through if it’s not securely latched. She doesn’t like to potty outside if temps are bitter cold. If other dogs in house, she needs to be fed separately as she will eat their food as soon as hers is gone. She has a strong prey drive and will sometimes obsess over a squirrel long after it has left her sight. MEDICAL ISSUES:  No known medical issues. THE BEST HOME:  Honestly, one where she can be snuggled, played with, and loved on 24/7. 😁 A home without young children or cats.  A home with a securely fenced yard, full of fluffy blankets, squeaky toys, yummy treats and someone who will give her time to settle in and love her tiny chihuahua ways!!! Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is ADOPTION FEE's: Puppies under 6 months:  $199.00 Adults:  $150.00 Seniors (over 7 yrs):  $99.00 If you are interested in one of our dogs please fill out an application: https://form.jotform.com/193425528783165

Story
Bella is a very sweet little girl who was returned to rescue after her Mom went into hospice care. The day after she was returned we noticed that she was having some urinary issues. The found her bladder to be full of stones and immediately scheduled her for bladder surgery. Bella has recovered and is doing great, the only drawback is she needs to be on prescription dog food for the rest of her life. Bella is not a big eater so a sm bag of food lasts a long time. Bella is a cuddle, she loves to sleep in bed with you, loves other dogs, is housebroken to outside or uses piddle pad. She hates crates so no crating. Not sure of cats. Bella’s choice for a forever home would be an older couple or single woman. She is upd on her shots and microchipped.

Story
Hello, my name is Chef Boyardee! I am looking for a new family who is familiar with the chihuahua breed. I really love to be carried around by staff and sit in my friend`s laps while they work. Like most chihuahuas though, this only happens on my terms. I need a family who understands that they can`t force their affection on me and need to give me time to warm up at my own pace. I do get along well with other small dogs and can be quite playful with them, when I feel like playing. I`m not too keen on small children though. I think they move too fast and are unpredictable and that scares me. Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neuteringAdoption fee: $95.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2022 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $7.00. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$5.00)Leash and collar included.

It is lengthy but has ALL INFO we know. Emailing and asking for more info is only going to hold up your process and risk your chances of the dog you want being gone. LILY is being fostered in Salem, OH. SHE is fully vetted including spay/rabies/bordetella/ DHPP/heartworm-flea prevention while in rescue. We do not ship dogs, we do not transport dogs, we do not hold dogs. You must be ready to adopt within 72 hours upon approval. FULLY VETTED ADOPTION FEE is: $250 ** PLEASE NOTE: The breed mix posted is simply a GUESS on our part, we DO NOT do DNA testing. Well, here I am folks....all 9 lbs of me!! My name is Miss Lily Jean and I am approx. 6 yrs old. Unlike many of the other doggies looking for homes, I was lucky enough to have a wonderful life with a Mom that loved me dearly. Sadly, she crossed the rainbow bridge where she vowed to wait for me when it's my turn to join her. In the meantime, I have been living my best life with my foster family!! I have learned to go in and out of a doggie door (how fun!!), play with other SMALL dogs (take not of small please!), chase kitties (only to play with them) and take a nice Sunday ride in the car! I absolutely love sitting on the back of furniture to enjoy all of the goings on outside, not to mention that sunshine coming thru the window is da bomb!! I spent the first 6 yrs of my life as an only "child" so it's taking me some time to learn how to play with other dogs but I am slowly catching on. So a home with or without (did I mention small) dogs would be great. I am also good with kids but due to my smaller stature, the girls here at the rescue feel it would be best if they were over the age of 8 yrs as to not accidentally hurt me. My potty habits?? EXCELLENT!! I love to be carried around the house but once my human sits down I am on the floor ready to play with my toys! I should mention that even though I am petite in size, my vocal abilities will ward off any unwanted intruders!! Although, once I know the visitors are "safe" I will back off lol. So, if you are looking for a compact, playful, loving, well behaved gal then take some time to complete that application so we can meet up!! love, lily xoxo COPY AND PASTE THE FOLLOWING LINK FOR APPLICATION: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScS9JnqDx7VUcxofuK4oBqeYuaLYHWi_43DesFKd3YjHeQwwA/viewform?usp=sf_link

Story
Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they are adopted. All our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Ernest - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Ernest Goes To Jail, yes, to my embarrassment and dismay, I was found as a stray and spent some time in the doggie slammer. It seemed like forever!! But this rescue found me and is trying to find me my fur-ever home to give me my freedom ride! Yes, Ernest Rides Again!!! I'm just hoping your home is my last ride!! I have been working on the whole house and crate training thing. I may have spent most of my life outside but I've caught on quickly. I coming to see that this whole living inside with a soft bed and a warm lap to lay on is pretty darn nice!! I would do best in a quiet adult only home. I'm needing my space but will come seeking companionship when I want it. Kinda like a cat in that sense. I do well with other dogs that aren't too bouncy and constantly in my space. At 9 years and only 11lbs I would make a great family addition that is looking for a great lil guy that is already out of that destructive stage but still enjoys neighborhood strolls and catching some rays in the backyard. If you're looking for that needy pup that is always under foot seeking you attention, I'm not your boy. But if you want an independent lil guy that is just happy being in the same room, I might just be your lil man!! I would love to be your lil side kick....so what do ya say? Can I come home with you?!!
