Story

Johnny was found at a park in about 7 years ago. At that time, we made efforts to locate his owner, but when we were unable to do so, we decided to keep him. Johnny loves to snuggle, take naps under blankets and bask in the sun. He is not a very active dog and prefers to lounge around and sleep. Based on our best estimate, Johnny is around 12 years old. Since we’ve had him, we have never been able to fully housebreak him. He must wear diapers while inside the house. Since the birth of our first child two years ago, caring for Johnny has become increasingly stressful. With a second child on the way, we feel that we are no longer able to give Johnny the time, attention, and care that he deserves.

Gardenia is a sensitive, soulful girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. When she first meets new people, she can be very fearful and needs patience and gentle understanding. Give her a little time, though, and she’ll show her true self—one who just wants to curl up in your lap and feel close to her person. She would do best as the only pet in the home while she continues to work on her social skills. She’s a very special dog who forms deep, meaningful bonds and will be incredibly devoted to the person who earns her trust. She’s looking for someone who can spend much of the day with her and provide consistency, comfort, and reassurance.She’ll need a calm home with children ages 13 and up, where her boundaries are respected and she can continue to grow in confidence at her own pace.
