Story
Louie was surrendered to FOR from an unfortunate home situation with several other dogs. Chihuahuas can be fearful in nature but are also known for being loving and affectionate dogs that bond with family members and Louie is no exception. Louie is a great companion dog who loves walks and cuddling with his person. Louie is shy and may be fearful with new people, but with time, he will warm up. Louie is working on house training and doing well, but accidents do happen. He lives with other dogs and cats and does well. Louie doesn't like to be crated and may whine, but with time and positive training this behavior should get better. I am unsure how Louie will react around children, therefore, children 10 and older may be a better fit. Since Louie does bark at noises, apartment living may not be the best living environment for him. He has been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm neg, and microchipped. Louie is approximately 5 yrs old, a chihuahua mix and weighs 11 pounds. If you wish to meet Louie, fill out an adoption questionnaire and his foster mom will be in touch to discuss if Louie would be a fit for your family. Louie is being fostered in Madison, AL. Prefer a local adopter.

His name is Alto. I adopted him in 2017 and he brought so much joy to my life. He is sweet, affectionate and likes to cuddle. He loves people even those he is unfamiliar with. Due to his age he has become slow but likes to get out of the house to play. He also loved car rides. He eats almost anything but loves turkey and chicken. I hope someone can home him in. I planned to bring him to the Philippines but due to airline policy he should endure a 28 hour flight in the cargo. Thank you

Meet Odie! Odie is an adorable 4 year-old Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger heart. While he might come off a little spicy at first, once he’s had time to settle in and decompress, he turns into an affectionate little love bug. Odie enjoys the company of other dogs (with proper introductions) and does well with older kids. He’s not a fan of cats, though. He loves playing with his foster siblings and his favorite toys, and he’s doing great with learning to walk nicely on a leash. In true Chihuahua fashion, Odie’s got a fierce little heart—he may be tiny, but he’s convinced he’s 100 pounds of pure bravery, always ready to guard his people with everything he’s got. Underneath that tough-guy act, though, he’s just a softie learning it’s okay to let his guard down. Slowly he is learning to relax and trust, and with time, love, and patience, he’s sure to thrive. While Odie is potty trained accidents are bound to happen so with timely breaks and some motivational treats we’re sure he’ll do great. We recommend setting up a cozy, designated space for Odie in his new home—like a kennel with soft, fluffy blankets—where he can feel safe and comfortable as he adjusts Odie is also a total cuddle bug—he loves snuggling up with his person and watching the world go by during car rides. Odie will need lots of love and patience as he is learning manners and boundaries. He’s a smart little guy and very treat-motivated, so basic training should be a breeze. This is AJ. He’s an adorable 4-year-old chihuahua who is looking for a new home. He’ll need a few days/weeks to acclimate into his new home but once he does, he’s very affectionate. Currently, he has 7 other dogs in his foster pack so he gets a bit overwhelmed with the puppy. When she’s not around, he’s very affectionate and likes to be near his person. While he does well with all the foster nuts, he’d prefer a household with not quite so many dogs. I don’t have cats and my kids are grown so I don’t know how he does with littles. AJ gets free rein of the house when I’m gone. He is potty trained ; he likes to spend time outside except when the weather is frigid. At this moment, he’s curled up on the bed with me and 3 other dogs. He can’t always jump on furniture but, at 16 pounds, he’s easy to lift up. AJ was neutered and is up to date on shots. Story
This is Buddy. He is a chihuahua mix,  approximately 5 yrs old. Buddy weighs about 11 lbs. Buddy is up to date with his rabies vaccine. Buddy is house trained but prefers puppy pads in the winter. Buddy is very skittish as I rescued him 4 yrs ago from an abusive, neglectful owner. He is afraid of basements and does not like collars or leashes. Buddy prefers a quiet home and likes to lay in his kennel with his blankies. He has been with other dogs and cats and does well after he gets to know them. Buddy is also good with little kids but tends to pee/mark on anything that is theirs that he can. Buddy use to sleep with me until baby was born. Now if he sleeps with me he will get up in the middle of the night and mark/pee on anything that has baby scent on it. He has no problem sleeping in his kennel. I tried putting diapers on him to avoid this but he absolutely dislikes them and will sit in his kennel and shake when he has one on. We have a fenced in yard and during the summer Buddy enjoys being outside all the time laying in the sun. He will wonder off if the gate is open but will come back when his name is called. Buddy does not like to be touched unless he initiates the touch. I found that if company comes in Buddy will bark but once they sit down he will stop. Buddy will approach and  sniff them on his own time and then allow them to pet and love him. If you try to reach for him he will cower or run and hide in his kennel. Buddy does not like alot of loud noises. Buddy loves getting in the car but once you are driving he will want to sit on your lap and will shake. Buddy likes cuddling once he is comfortable with you  Buddy will have his kennel and favorite blankies with him. I am also willing to purchase Buddy's food as he really likes Purina One Lamb and Rice mix. Buddy is located in Wausau WI. I would absolutely love to keep Buddy but I really can't handle the marking on the babies stuff and I feel it may get worse due to another baby due in May. Adoption fee of $450 required.
