Story
Karley is a small 8-pound chihuahua mix estimated to be about 4 years old. She is most comfortable around women and other small dogs. Karley is not a very active girl. She prefers consistency and predictability in her day to day routine with those she feels safe with. Karley is not interested in being the center of attention and would do best in a home with little foot traffic. She is a sweet girl looking for someone to enjoy the quiet life with. Her initial hesitancy towards new people is lessened when she has another small dog to show her she is safe and being social can be fun. Although a home with another small dog is preferred, it is not a requirement. Applicants without other animals in their home will be considered on a case by case basis. Karley requires a home with a secure fenced-in yard to continue working on potty training. Continued training patience with this is to be expected. Given time & love Karley will be a devoted dog to a kind and patient family.DATCP# 483538

Story
Taco is a big personality in a tiny body. Estimated to be about 1 year old, this 7-pound chihuahua mix has the perfect combination of puppy energy & adult dog behaviors. He's incredibly sweet, LOVES to snuggle, enjoys playing with toys, & sleeps through the night in his crate. Taco is also doing great with potty training. He can be a bit vocal so would not be a good candidate for apartment living. He does well with the dogs & kids in his foster home, but due to his small size & puppy tendencies, he will need a home without young children. Taco is ready for his forever home & will make his new family very happy. If you think that could be you, apply to meet Taco today! 🌮💜DATCP#483538

Story
Meet Barbie, the charming almost 2-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix with a quirky personality and a heart full of love. She was rescued from a local shelter where it's apparent she had a rough start to life where a human was not nice to her as she sometimes gets startled by quick movements. Barbie's spirit shines brightly as she embraces each day with enthusiasm and resilience. Weighing in at 20lbs, Barbie adores playtime and craves attention. Beware though, if you're not giving her the attention she deserves, Barbie isn't shy about reminding you with a playful nip on the butt! We are working on that and she is doing better as long as she has toys to distract her! She's looking for a patient and understanding family who can provide her with the love and security she deserves, promising endless laughs and unconditional love in return. She does great with dogs of all sizes. Barbie's adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state and includes current shots, microchip, spay, and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. An adoption application and contract are required. If you have any questions, please email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com. If you are interested in adopting Barbie please complete the adoption application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SGDR/Dog

Story
About Me: Name: Domino Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua mix Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: Reduced Fee $300 Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Owner passed away Profile: Domino has been with Bichon and Little Buddies for over 9 months as we worked with him to have him become comfortable with humans other than his owner.  When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him.  He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater.  He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting.  While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with.  He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug.  It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own.  While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction.  Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home.  He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food.  We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food.  He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction.   If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy.  He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on.  If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS April 30, 2024, 12:19 pm

Story
About Me: Name: Preston Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua Approximate Age: 1 year Gender: Male Approximate Weight: around 5 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Loving and patient adopter Why In Rescue: lost/stray dog Profile:  Preston came from a local animal control after he was turned in as a found/stray dog.  He is a nice little guy that would love to be part of a family again.  He is a bit demanding about getting attention, he is quite noisy when he is in a kennel and would rather be in someone's arms.  He is also an escape artist that will wiggle his way under a fence so he needs to be in a very secure fenced area, or on a leash.  If interested in adopting go to www.bichonrescues.com and fill out the pre-adoption application. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to.
