Story
Adopt a Pet from Mutt Life! Looking to add a furry friend to your family? At Mutt Life Rescue of Wisconsin, we have loving pets waiting for their forever homes. Explore our adoptable animals and find your perfect match today! For the latest updates on the mutts, follow us on Facebook: @muttlifewi Visit our website: Muttlife.org __________ Meet Sue Sue is a 1.5-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighing just 11 pounds who is looking for a patient and loving forever home. Before entering rescue, Sue was found as a terrified stray in Georgia and was so frightened that she had to be safely caught using a cat trap. When she arrived at the shelter, she was also dealing with a skin condition, which has responded well to treatment and continues to improve. The shelter environment was overwhelming for Sue, and she spent much of her time fearful and unsure. Everything changed when she moved into a foster home. With patience, stability, and love, Sue began to show her true personality—and it is absolutely worth the wait. Sue is an incredibly sweet and affectionate little dog who loves her people. She enjoys snuggling, giving kisses, and being close to the adults she trusts. While she can be timid and unsure when first entering a new environment, she consistently shows that she simply needs a little time to settle in. We ask that her future family give her grace during her first week at home and allow her the opportunity to adjust. Once she feels safe and understands her surroundings, Sue truly blossoms into a loving and devoted companion. Sue is currently thriving in foster care. She enjoys spending time outside with her foster mom, helping in the garden and exploring off leash. She has proven to be a wonderful little companion who simply enjoys being included in daily life. Sue recently attended a large food truck event with Mutt Life Dog Rescue and did an excellent job. Despite the crowds, noise, and activity, she handled the event well and showed how far she has come in building confidence. Sue generally does well with other dogs, but like people, she can be cautious when meeting new canine friends. Once she gets to know them, she settles in nicely. She can also be fearful of young children initially and would do best with older, calm children or a family willing to help her slowly build trust with younger kids. She is potty trained, crate trained, and continues improving her leash skills. Sue has a medium-to-lower energy level and would thrive in a calm home where she can continue gaining confidence while receiving plenty of love and affection. Sue's Details: Age: 1.5 Years Gender: Female Weight: 11 lbs Breed: Chihuahua/Terrier Mix Spayed: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Leash Manners: Improving Good with Dogs: Yes, after proper introductions Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Older calm children preferred Sue has already overcome so much in her short life. She has gone from a frightened stray to a happy, affectionate companion who just needs a little time to let her guard down. For the family willing to be patient during her adjustment period, Sue will reward them with endless love, loyalty, and cuddles. To learn more about Sue or apply to adopt, visit www.muttlife.org. __________ Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up-to-date dewormer, vaccinations, heartworm prevention (age appropriate), and certified veterinarian inspection within 30 days of adoption. __________ Review adoption requirements and ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply! https://www.muttlife.org/adoption-policies _________ ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.) Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $125 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old. **Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**

Maya is friendly happy gal who can been seen charging her solar powered tail wagger on sunny days or curled up in a blanket when the weather calls for it. She’s a young dog, around 1 year old with a long life of love and fun to offer. Up for an adventure or play time with a friend but also has great chill and will happily cuddle for movie night. She has a beautiful little face that looks at her people with adoring eyes. On the smaller side at 17 pounds she still fits on the recliner with you but is durable enough for adventures. House and crate trained. She’ll be hanging out here with her foster waiting for her forever family.Apply at Rescuegang.orgDATCP#483538
