Story
About Me: Name: Domino Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua mix Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: Reduced Fee $300 Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Owner passed away Profile: Domino has been with Bichon and Little Buddies for over 9 months as we worked with him to have him become comfortable with humans other than his owner.  When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him.  He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater.  He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting.  While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with.  He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug.  It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own.  While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction.  Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home.  He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food.  We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food.  He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction.   If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy.  He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on.  If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS May 10, 2024, 5:39 pm

About Me: Name: Preston Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua Approximate Age: 1 year Gender: Male Approximate Weight: around 5 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Loving and patient adopter Why In Rescue: lost/stray dog Profile:  Preston came from a local animal control after he was turned in as a found/stray dog.  He is a nice little guy that would love to be part of a family again.  He is a bit demanding about getting attention, he is quite noisy when he is in a kennel and would rather be in someone's arms.  He is also an escape artist that will wiggle his way under a fence so he needs to be in a very secure fenced area, or on a leash.  If interested in adopting go to www.bichonrescues.com and fill out the pre-adoption application.  *** We now believe Preston is deaf which is why he is a bit loud when he expresses his displeasure of being alone.  It really doesn't affect his day to day life, other than we aren't able to communicate with him from a distance as he doesn't know we are talking to him.*** We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. About Me: Name: Siena Breed (or best guess):  Chihuahua mix (or Chiweenie) Approximate Age: estimated birthday 7/25/23 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: loving, patient family Why In Rescue: Texas Transfer Profile:  Siena came to us from a rescue in Texas hoping she could find a loving family here.  We don't have a history on her, so don't know her background.  Since we have had her, she has been playful with other dogs, and is learning to trust the caretakers at the shelters (she is a little shy at first).  She does have playful energy, so will want to play and get some exercise, but will be happy to relax when it is time for that as well.   We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. Story
Meet sweet little Harbor, momma of the litter sponsored by Boone and Crockett. She's a lean, mean, kissing machine! Although it take a little for her to warm up, once she does she is very affectionate and snuggles into foster mom and gives kisses whenever she's picked up. She's a very good girl that's working hard on potty training and is quiet and well behaved in her crate when foster mom is gone and overnight. In true chihuahua fashion, she like to let foster mom know when there's something too close to her territory outside but has been mostly quiet when inside. Although Harbor is dog friendly and lives with other dogs, she hasn't shown much interest in playing yet and would do well as an only dog. Please check back for updates as my foster family gets to know me. You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet me today!!Adoption fee: $500All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. Story
Coca has only been with the rescue for a short time, so her foster family is still getting to know her. So far, she's been very sweet but a little unsure about things. Once she gets comfortable, she's very playful and impish. She likes snuggling, but prefers to snuggle by her person's head vs their lap, so it's good thing she's only 12 lbs. She does ok in her crate when foster mom leaves and overnight, but can be vocal the first few minutes and when she knows it's time to be let out. She's working super hard at potty training and responds well to praise and treats. Most of the time she's low energy with periods of higher energy, which is consistent with her age. If you're looking for a sweet, goofy little dog that will always have a puppy face, Coca might be your gal!You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about Coca on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet her today!!Adoption fee: Check back soon! All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. Story
LAUREL and LAYLA !!!. Wow HOW could you get any cuter. These girls have the biggest personality to be so small. They are just adored in the foster home they are currently in right now. You would get the biggest kick out of their (not bark or yelp) but more like a mouse squeak as they try to communicate how much they need and want your attention. They have no issues with their fosters adult dogs and try to imitate and learn from them. They really want to be big enough to hop up in the car and take car rides with foster mom. These tinies are everything puppy. They love to eat, sleep and play and then rewind and do it all over again. You won’t go wrong with either of these girls. Ear up Laurel is just a tad smaller than ear down Layla. Once adopted they will travel via RescueVet private transport (transport cost is $185.00) to a location closest to you. If you would like to make any one of these dolls part of your family and home please follow the link below to our application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
About this Dog: Name: Jumanji Breed: Pomeranian Approximate Age:  8 yr Gender:  Male Weight:  around 10 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Why in Rescue:  puppy mill survivor Requirements: fenced yard or secure potty area Scroll down to learn more! Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  If clicking on the link doesn't work, just copy/paste into a browser to get to the application.  Jumanji came from a commercial breeder who was no longer going to use him for breeding.  He is a sweet guy becoming more comfortable with human handling everyday.  He tends to spin in circles, likely from living in a kennel for so long.  This may get better after he figures out he has more space to move around than just a kennel run.  He has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned, and is now ready to find a loving home. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often scared/shy/skittish), and probably never lived in a house.  They need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like television is.  They will need a patient adopter who will give them the time they needs to adjust and learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after being used the first part of their lives for making puppies.  A fence (or at least a fenced in potty area) is highly recommended and may be required for certain dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home and may be required in some cases. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html   We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.     The adoption procedures are listed below.  Priority is given to potential adopters who fill out the application on our website.  If a listing is on the adoption websites, we are still accepting applications.  The listing is removed once we have received a sufficient number of applications or the pet leaves the shelter.   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.   4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us! For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.
