Story
My name is Happy ! My foster mom is Sasha ( Shes up for adoption too !) My real mom and dad passed away before help arrived . I came into rescue from a hoarding case out of Whittmann Arizona . I was pretty young , 3 weeks old at most , but super thankful my foster mom took me on ! I am super sweet and loving ! I am familiar with a kennel and have been working on kennel training since Mid-January , I would do good another dog in the home to help guide me and so I don't feel lonely. I do know how to use a dog door and I am about 90% potty trained but I do need reminders sometimes , and I am kenneled at night with my bedtime routine. Since day one I have had a problem with sharing food , we have worked on it Daily , I do great when I eat next to my mom who teaches me to respect my elders and use my manners. When I am eating with my other siblings , I want to be in charge , so we do feeding time in my kennel and we work on sharing treats with friends , I have made improvements , My new family will need to continue working with me so I understand , I will never be starved again , the first 3 weeks of my life were rough but I am making improvements. I love toys and chew toys are helping with my new teeth coming in. I am a little more outgoing compared to my siblings but we are all growing at our own pace. If you have questions or want to know more about me contact my foster mom Marcela 602-736-9523 or afpintake@gmail.com

Story
Meet Kernel (aka Max), your soon-to-be best buddy! Hi there! My name is Kernel, but my foster mom affectionately calls me Max—and I kind of like it. I might come off a bit shy at first, but give me a little time and you'll find me curled up in your lap, handing out kisses like it’s my full-time job. I get along great with the other pups in my foster home (they're all around 35 lbs. and under), and I’ve even had some fun with the neighbor kids! Cats? I haven’t met any yet, so the jury’s still out. I walk nicely on a leash—though sometimes I get a little excited and try to lead the way. A secure yard where I can zoom and sniff would be ideal, and I’d love a doggy sibling to hang out with while you’re out. Snuggle time is very high on my list of favorite things, so don’t be surprised if I sneak into your arms for a cuddle session. I’m potty trained, and while the doggie door is still a bit of a mystery to me, I’m getting the hang of it with practice! Life’s giving me a fresh start, and I’m ready to soak it all in—especially if it involves adventures, soft blankets, and someone to love. Bonus: my ears are ridiculously cute. Come meet me—I have a feeling we’re meant to be! Please email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to schedule a meet & greet.

IMPORTANT!! Due to time and staffing constraints, ALL inquiries/questions MUST BE accompanied by your completed Adoption Application (Matchmaking Questionnaire). See above for the link to the form. Any inquiries/questions sent without the completed form will NOT receive a response. Thank You for understanding. Affectionate "special needs" Ginger is 4 years old and in search of a loving home that is as special as she is. Ginger had a rough start in life and for the first year of her puppyhood she was strictly confined in a tiny crate with only a few potty breaks. As a result, she suffers from claustrophobia and is terrified of leashes. Despite all this, Ginger is a loving and friendly girl who likes nothing better than to jump up on your lap for a tummy rub, or sit beside you on the couch watching TV. She also loves sleeping in bed with you. She likes toys and chew bones and running around out in the back yard. Ginger is good with other pets and us perfectly potty trained. She uses the doggie door and never makes a mess. Ginger would be the ideal companion for someone who doesn't take their dog for a walk and just wants a friendly and loving pet to be their best friend. Her adoption fee is $125 and includes her spay and all shots.

Story
Buttercup is a sassy little chihuahua mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 14 lbs. This sassy but adorable girl is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several months, Buttercup and her pals were living on the streets and being fed by people in the neighborhood. As a result, she gets nervous around new people and it takes a while for her to trust you. Personality: Buttercup takes a while to warm up to people. Once she selects you as her person, her excitement to see you begins to show through tail and body wags, talking to you, jumping on you, but will shy away when you try to pet her. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, which may take up to 6 months, Buttercup will reluctantly allow you to do short back and butt scratches, will shadow you, and sleep near you. Buttercup is food motivated and enjoys treats (although she doesn't like fruits or vegetables). In her free time, Buttercup enjoys going for walks, sunning herself in the backyard, and hanging out with other household dogs. Health: Buttercup is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She does have seasonal allergies and is on medicine. Training: Buttercup is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. She knows the commands: come, crate, and leave it. Ideal Home: Buttercup requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Since she tends to snap when she is scared, Buttercup would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will be patient and help her break out of her comfort zone. She is used to being around other dogs in her foster home, and does best with calm small to medium size dogs. Buttercup likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. She learns from other dogs and would benefit in a home with another dog that will allow her to cuddle and share their crate. Adoption Requirements : Buttercup’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Buttercup is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Ideally have a dog companion for Buttercup to bond with.  If you are interested in Buttercup please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  January 4, 2026, 11:28 am

Story
Meet Mr. Shilo! He is a one-year-old, 17lb Chihuahua/dachshund mix with a heart of gold. Mr. Shilo came from a difficult situation involving 60 dogs where he often had to compete for food. Fortunately, he was rescued and has been thriving in a wonderful foster home. In his foster home, Mr. Shilo has learned to love the indoors, toys, and the company of a doggie sibling. While he was initially scared, he has blossomed into a happy energetic  dog who enjoys zoomies in the yard, sitting in laps, doing and receiving belly rubs.  Here are some important details to help you decide if Mr. Shilo is a good fit for your home: - Behavior: He is a bit cautious at first and needs a patient family that will give him time to warm up. - Training: He uses a doggy door but still needs help with leash training and walking. - Food: He is very food-motivated. Due to his history, he does not like to share food or treats. - Sleeping: He is happy to sleep in your bed or in a dog bed in your room. - Children: It is currently unknown how he behaves around children. Mr. Shilo is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $350, which helps cover medical expenses for the rescue. If you think Mr Shilo would be a good fit for your family please complete our online application at:   Application .  A volunteer coordinator will contact you after reviewing your submission. *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up .  February 15, 2026, 5:41 pm
