Story
Scrappy was born and raised in Arizona. He is a sweet little dog with a fun loving personality. He loves all people and wants all the pets he can possibly get. Unfortunately, after raising him for 5 years, our new work schedule does not allow us to give them the time and attention he needs and deserves. We are also moving to a home that does not have a yard. They spent most of their life running around outside and need a home they can do the same. Since he spent his time outdoors growing up, he only recently finished potty training. He loves cuddles and to play with his little stuffies. He is not fixed but only just out of date for his shots. He is a great dog and we just want to find a home where he can have the better life he deserves.

Story
Meet Riggs! Riggs is a little bundle of energy and affection who is always ready for his next adventure—or a cozy cuddle session afterward. He loves going for walks and especially enjoys time at the park where he can run, play, and burn off some of his enthusiasm. Riggs gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. When Riggs came into the care of Valley Dogs, he was suffering from a hip injury that required a femoral head ostectomy (FHO). His veterinarian believes the injury was caused by some type of trauma, such as a fall, jump, or impact to the hip area that resulted in a fracture. Despite his injury, Riggs never let it slow him down. Even before surgery, he happily kept up with his four-legged companions. After surgery, he is simply continuing to enjoy life to the fullest. Riggs would thrive in an active home with a securely fenced yard, especially since he weighs less than 12 pounds. He would love a family that includes him in walks, outings, and everyday activities. While he has not been exposed to children in his foster home, he is expected to do well with respectful kids once he knows he is safe, loved, and part of the family. He would also enjoy having one or more canine companions to play with and help keep him entertained. If you're looking for a fun-loving, resilient, and affectionate little dog to join your family, Riggs may be the perfect match. Story
Meet Kernel (aka Max), your soon-to-be best buddy! Hi there! My name is Kernel, but my foster mom affectionately calls me Max—and I kind of like it. I might come off a bit shy at first, but give me a little time and you'll find me curled up in your lap, handing out kisses like it’s my full-time job. I get along great with the other pups in my foster home (they're all around 35 lbs. and under), and I’ve even had some fun with the neighbor kids! Cats? I haven’t met any yet, so the jury’s still out. I walk nicely on a leash—though sometimes I get a little excited and try to lead the way. A secure yard where I can zoom and sniff would be ideal, and I’d love a doggy sibling to hang out with while you’re out. Snuggle time is very high on my list of favorite things, so don’t be surprised if I sneak into your arms for a cuddle session. I’m potty trained, and while the doggie door is still a bit of a mystery to me, I’m getting the hang of it with practice! Life’s giving me a fresh start, and I’m ready to soak it all in—especially if it involves adventures, soft blankets, and someone to love. Bonus: my ears are ridiculously cute. Come meet me—I have a feeling we’re meant to be! Please email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to schedule a meet & greet.

Story
Many times the best things in life take a little time and patience. That is absolutely true of Havarti if given just a small amount of time and patience Havarti will overflow with love for her people and be the most loyal, loving and playful little girl you’ve ever seen. She deserves a place to call her own with love and toys and snuggles. We are confident she will not disappoint the special family who can see past her being shy and reserved upon an initial meet and greet. Havarti is good with other dogs and loves to play, she would be fine with kitties as well. Recommended older children who understand giving a dog the time and space to feel comfortable in a new environment. Come meet this sweet girl in her foster home!

Story
Meet Josh Josh is a sweet 4-month-old Chihuahua mix puppy who is ready to find his forever family! ❤️ Josh is a typical playful puppy with plenty of puppy energy. He loves to play but he is a littler shyer than his sister Indi when it comes to exploring. Once he wears himself out, he is more than happy to curl up and snuggle with his people. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play with. Since Josh is still such a young puppy, his new family will need to be patient and ready to help him learn all the important puppy basics, including house training, manners, and basic commands. He is potty pad trained and we are working on going outside.  Josh is looking for a loving family who will give him the guidance, attention, and affection he needs as he grows. In return, he promises to bring plenty of puppy kisses, playful moments, and cuddles into your life! Josh at a Glance Age: 4 months old Breed: Chihuahua mix Personality: Playful, sweet & cuddly Dogs: Gets along with all dogs Training: Puppy training will be needed Favorite things: Playing, then snuggling when he's tired ❤️ Josh is just a little puppy with a big heart, and he can't wait to meet his forever family! Story
Buttercup is a sassy little chihuahua mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 14 lbs. This sassy but adorable girl is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several months, Buttercup and her pals were living on the streets and being fed by people in the neighborhood. As a result, she gets nervous around new people and it takes a while for her to trust you. Personality: Buttercup takes a while to warm up to people. Once she selects you as her person, her excitement to see you begins to show through tail and body wags, talking to you, jumping on you, but will shy away when you try to pet her. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, which may take up to 6 months, Buttercup will reluctantly allow you to do short back and butt scratches, will shadow you, and sleep near you. Buttercup is food motivated and enjoys treats (although she doesn't like fruits or vegetables). In her free time, Buttercup enjoys going for walks, sunning herself in the backyard, and hanging out with other household dogs. Health: Buttercup is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She does have seasonal allergies and is on medicine. Training: Buttercup is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. She knows the commands: come, crate, and leave it. Ideal Home: Buttercup requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Since she tends to snap when she is scared, Buttercup would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will be patient and help her break out of her comfort zone. She is used to being around other dogs in her foster home, and does best with calm small to medium size dogs. Buttercup likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. She learns from other dogs and would benefit in a home with another dog that will allow her to cuddle and share their crate. Adoption Requirements : Buttercup’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Buttercup is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Ideally have a dog companion for Buttercup to bond with.  If you are interested in Buttercup please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Meet Willow, aka “Pillow Willow” due to her love of bed snuggles. She is a perfect little 9 lb, 2-year-old chi mix!  Background: Willow came to the Arizona Humane Society with her two 1-week-old puppies in heartbreaking condition. She was covered in ticks, severely anemic, and suffering from sarcoptic mange. Despite everything she had endured, Willow never stopped caring for her babies. We welcomed this tiny family into our rescue so they could receive the love, medical care, and safety they desperately needed. Considering the harsh desert summer conditions they were surviving in, it feels like a miracle that all three made it. Her puppies have since found their forever homes, and now it's Willow's turn.  Personality: Willow is a perfect little companion. She adores people and would happily spend her entire day by your side, whether you're relaxing at home, working, or running errands. She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes in her foster home, but she would likely be just as happy soaking up all the attention as an only pet.  Health: Despite her difficult start in life, Willow has made a full recovery and does not have any known long-term health concerns. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines.  Training: Willow is a well-mannered little lady with excellent house habits. She is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash.  Ideal Home: Willow is a sweet, easygoing girl whose favorite place is right next to her person. While she can adapt to different living situations, she would thrive in a calm, low-key home where she can spend her days cuddling, relaxing, and being close to her family. She would especially love a home where her people are around more often than not, as companionship is what makes her happiest. Because of her tiny size, a securely fenced yard is ideal so she can safely explore and enjoy the outdoors. Families in the Phoenix area should be mindful of local wildlife and always supervise her outside to keep her safe from coyotes and other desert predators.  Adoption Requirements: Willow’s adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
