Story
Meet Riggs! Riggs is a little bundle of energy and affection who is always ready for his next adventure—or a cozy cuddle session afterward. He loves going for walks and especially enjoys time at the park where he can run, play, and burn off some of his enthusiasm. Riggs gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. When Riggs came into the care of Valley Dogs, he was suffering from a hip injury that required a femoral head ostectomy (FHO). His veterinarian believes the injury was caused by some type of trauma, such as a fall, jump, or impact to the hip area that resulted in a fracture. Despite his injury, Riggs never let it slow him down. Even before surgery, he happily kept up with his four-legged companions. After surgery, he is simply continuing to enjoy life to the fullest. Riggs would thrive in an active home with a securely fenced yard, especially since he weighs less than 12 pounds. He would love a family that includes him in walks, outings, and everyday activities. While he has not been exposed to children in his foster home, he is expected to do well with respectful kids once he knows he is safe, loved, and part of the family. He would also enjoy having one or more canine companions to play with and help keep him entertained. If you're looking for a fun-loving, resilient, and affectionate little dog to join your family, Riggs may be the perfect match. Story
Meet Kernel (aka Max), your soon-to-be best buddy! Hi there! My name is Kernel, but my foster mom affectionately calls me Max—and I kind of like it. I might come off a bit shy at first, but give me a little time and you'll find me curled up in your lap, handing out kisses like it’s my full-time job. I get along great with the other pups in my foster home (they're all around 35 lbs. and under), and I’ve even had some fun with the neighbor kids! Cats? I haven’t met any yet, so the jury’s still out. I walk nicely on a leash—though sometimes I get a little excited and try to lead the way. A secure yard where I can zoom and sniff would be ideal, and I’d love a doggy sibling to hang out with while you’re out. Snuggle time is very high on my list of favorite things, so don’t be surprised if I sneak into your arms for a cuddle session. I’m potty trained, and while the doggie door is still a bit of a mystery to me, I’m getting the hang of it with practice! Life’s giving me a fresh start, and I’m ready to soak it all in—especially if it involves adventures, soft blankets, and someone to love. Bonus: my ears are ridiculously cute. Come meet me—I have a feeling we’re meant to be! Please email ADOPT@VALLEYDOGS.ORG to schedule a meet & greet.

Walker is the sweetest little boy. He is so calm and loving, sweet and tender. He is a perfect small size to be a wonderful companion. He is shepherd looking yet small and cuddly. He loves the water and has recently learned to swim in the pool. He loves that time both in the water and chasing around with the other pups. Walker is crate trained sleeping through the night and doing very well on his house training. He is such a sweet and happy pup. He will bring love and smiles to his forever home.

Story
I have owned these two since 5 weeks old. They are both very well trained and good for the home in all aspects. Doggie door trained, crate trained, and very well mannered. I moved to Arizona from California to take care of my ailing 82 year old mother. The dogs really stress her out since she is still traumatized by an incident that happened in her childhood so this extra stress in her condition now is forcing this situation. Blondie is a lover and will try to lick you to death. Petey is a little more timid as he was the last born of the litter. both loving and require little care.

These pups are in Glendale, Arizona too!

Story
Meet Nook & Cranny – The Perfect Pair! Looking for double the love, double the laughs, and double the cuddles? Meet Nook & Cranny, an adorable bonded pair who are ready to find their forever home together! At around 2 years old, this unlikely duo—a Chiweenie and a French Bulldog—proves that opposites really do attract. They rely on each other for comfort, confidence, and companionship, and they wouldn't have it any other way. Nook is the more timid of the two and looks to Cranny for reassurance whenever she's feeling nervous. She always makes sure he's nearby and, when she's really scared, she'll snuggle up and hide underneath him. It's one of the sweetest things you'll ever see! Cranny is her protector, best friend, and constant source of comfort. These two are easygoing, affectionate, and love spending time with their people. Whether they're going for a leisurely walk, playing outside, or curling up on the couch for a TV marathon, they're happiest simply being together with the people they love. Because of their small size, they should always be supervised while outside. Nook & Cranny are crate trained, although they'd much rather snuggle up and sleep with their foster family. They're also potty trained, but because they're little dogs with little bladders, they can't be left alone for long periods of time or accidents may happen. Their perfect forever home would include: A family committed to keeping them together forever. Someone who is home most of the day and would love constant companionship. A securely fenced backyard where they can safely play, explore, and soak up the sunshine. Plenty of cuddle time on the couch while watching your favorite TV shows. Nook & Cranny share a bond that's truly special, and they're looking for a family who will cherish them both just as much as they cherish each other. If you're ready to welcome two loving hearts into your home, these sweet best friends are waiting to meet you! Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*  helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/ .   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Buttercup is a sassy little chihuahua mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 14 lbs. This sassy but adorable girl is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several months, Buttercup and her pals were living on the streets and being fed by people in the neighborhood. As a result, she gets nervous around new people and it takes a while for her to trust you. Personality: Buttercup takes a while to warm up to people. Once she selects you as her person, her excitement to see you begins to show through tail and body wags, talking to you, jumping on you, but will shy away when you try to pet her. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, which may take up to 6 months, Buttercup will reluctantly allow you to do short back and butt scratches, will shadow you, and sleep near you. Buttercup is food motivated and enjoys treats (although she doesn't like fruits or vegetables). In her free time, Buttercup enjoys going for walks, sunning herself in the backyard, and hanging out with other household dogs. Health: Buttercup is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She does have seasonal allergies and is on medicine. Training: Buttercup is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. She knows the commands: come, crate, and leave it. Ideal Home: Buttercup requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Since she tends to snap when she is scared, Buttercup would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will be patient and help her break out of her comfort zone. She is used to being around other dogs in her foster home, and does best with calm small to medium size dogs. Buttercup likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. She learns from other dogs and would benefit in a home with another dog that will allow her to cuddle and share their crate. Adoption Requirements : Buttercup’s adoption fee is $350. If you think Buttercup is the dog for you please review the following adoption requirements.   Must live in the Phoenix metro area Must have a securely fenced yard Ideally have a dog companion for Buttercup to bond with.  If you are interested in Buttercup please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Hi everyone! My name is Baby and I am a sweet, laid-back 12-year-old, 8-pound female Apple Head Chihuahua. As a senior, I am looking for a quiet home. I can be cautious with strangers at first, but I warm up quickly—especially if treats are involved. Once I trust you, I am a loyal and protective companion. I enjoy keeping you company when you are home, but I am not a "velcro dog"; I am perfectly well-behaved and calm when you need to step out for errands.   I am a vocal girl and will bark to alert you if someone is at the door or in the yard, so I would do best in a single-family home rather than an apartment or condo. My foster mom has been working on my manners, and I have made great progress; I no longer bark at birds, other neighborhood dogs, or outside noises.   I am house-trained, though I do not use a dog door. Because of my size, I need to be supervised while outdoors. My favorite routine is a nice morning walk (about a half-mile is perfect for my little legs) followed by a long nap in my bed or sitting next to you while you watch TV. I get along well with the small dogs in my foster home, though I don’t play as much as I used to. My ideal forever home would have one or two other senior dogs, but I would also be happy as an only pet.   I previously had trouble walking due to my knees, but I have had surgery on both and can now walk and run pain-free! I am also on daily heart medication (Furosemide and Pimobendan), which I take easily. My heart condition is well-managed and does not limit my daily activities.   Baby is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $200 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match.
