Story
Daisy is 3 years old, 48 pounds, and full of personality. This fun sized girl has become a total favorite with our staff and volunteers, and honestly, it’s easy to see why. She’s silly, spunky, loves her people, and has never once turned down a snack offered by her many admirers here at the shelter. Daisy is currently enjoying her “a little extra fluffy” era and fully supports being spoiled. We learned she’s almost half Chow Chow, which explains so much about her loyal and devoted personality. Daisy is the kind of dog who picks her people carefully, but once she loves you, she’s your biggest fan forever. She loves attention, treats, adventures, and spending time with her favorite humans. Daisy has so much love, joy, and personality packed into her adorable chunky little self, and we know there’s a home out there that’s going to absolutely adore her. Come meet Daisy and see why everyone here is obsessed with her. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only. If you arrive at the shelter without an appointment to meet a dog, we may not be able to assist you. Please call the shelter (516-869-6311) during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10AM-4PM) for more information about this dog, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability. Please go to www.theshelterconnection.org for more information about and directions to the shelter.

Story
Pay no attention to breed here….Ms. Beary is a mix of so many breeds - we stopped counting at 15 breeds so we just say she the best of ALL the breeds! Ms. Beary Berries is 75 lbs, and about 5 years old. She is crate trained and house-trained. She also walks well on the leash. She is great with people and with children. Beary is very bonded to her daughter, Blue Berries however she is dog selective otherwise. She tends to be an Alpha and her reaction to other dogs depends more on their dominance. For this reason it would be best if the Berries were the only two dogs in their home. Ms. Beary is part of a bonded pair so she will need to stick her with her daughter Blue Berry. She is a similar size and is listed for adoption as well. Interested in becoming a forever home for Beary Berries? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Meet Blue - the second part of the dynamic duo of Beary Berries and Blue Berry! Blue is about 75 lbs and is a mix of so many breeds we lost count! She is doing great with her house breaking and is great with kids, people and other dogs. She still needs to learn to walk on leash but has such great recall that she will come when called so a fenced in yard, or some acreage will be just fine! Please note that Blue MUST be adopted with her mom, Beary Berries. Interested in becoming a forever home for Blue ? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. ✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to JFK & EWR💟 The prices listed are based on USD, and the adoption fee will be calculated in CAD according to the exchange rate. 💙 Name: Kuma 💙 Gender: Male 💙 Age: Estimated 2 years old (Born April 2024) 💙 Weight: 11.7 kg (approx. 25.8 lbs) 💙 ADOGS Instagram (KR): @adogs 💙 English Profile: @_adogs_rescue 1. Medical History * Neuter Status: Completed * Microchip: Registered (Internal chip completed) * Other Notes: Heartworm retest scheduled for December 2026 2. Rescue Story Kuma was living at the Gimje Shelter. Because the shelter environment was vulnerable to infectious diseases, ADOGS could not leave him behind and stepped in urgently to rescue him. 3. Personality & Characteristics * Interaction with Humans: He is fearful and tends to keep his distance from people. He runs away from strangers and finds physical contact difficult. However, he has improved significantly compared to before; his guard around familiar people has lowered, and he now approaches first with a happy smile, though he still flinches and freezes when touched. * Interaction with Dogs: He coexists peacefully without showing much interest in other dogs. He has never shown aggression toward dog friends. * Interaction with Cats: He has not yet been introduced to cats. * Separation Anxiety: Since he is currently living in a group setting at the shelter, his individual anxiety levels are unknown. Structured independence training will be needed from day one in a home environment. * Potty Training: He currently uses both indoor and outdoor potty setups at the shelter. He does not show leg-lifting marking behavior. * Grooming & Hygiene: He does not have formal grooming experience yet. * Leash Walking: He is still afraid of walks. He freezes up when someone tries to put on his leash and digs his feet in, resisting going outside. He will need patient, ongoing training. * Motion Sickness: He showed no signs of car sickness during short-distance rides. * Biting/Defensive Reactions: Caution is required as he has shown defensive biting when people attempt to touch him suddenly. When a leash is put on him, he nips and chews at it. * Barking: He has shown no barking or whining behavior. Guidance and training may be needed once he transitions into a home setting. * Personality & Tendencies: He is cautious, timid, and naturally watchful. He gets frightened when cornered into small spaces and feels uncomfortable when people approach too closely or attempt physical touch. He needs a patient family who will build trust with him slowly over time.

Story
Meet Bailey — our 60-pound foxhound chow mixed lovebug with the sweetest surprise: a perfect little heart marking on his back to match the giant one in his chest. He joined us from the shelter in Forked River (Associated Humane Societies – Forked River) and has been stealing hearts ever since. With a smile so wide and tongue that flops out the side with joy, who can resis that boy? At 7 years old, Bailey is the perfect blend of mature and playful. He’s past the puppy chaos but still full of personality and joy. His absolute favorite pastime? Watching TV. And not casually — he has opinions. Love Is Blind is currently his show of choice, and he’ll happily binge alongside you, fully invested in the drama. Every single morning, Bailey has a non-negotiable ritual: he demands to hold hands with his foster. It started sweet… and now it’s the official way to begin the day. He reaches out, locks in, and won’t let go until he’s satisfied. It’s safe to say this boy bonds deeply and loves hard. Bailey also takes his personal growth seriously. Regular trips to The Home Depot are part of his training routine, where he works on manners, confidence, and remaining focused through distractions. He’s smart, eager to learn, and thrives when given structure and praise. He’s affectionate, interactive, and happiest when included in his people’s daily life — whether that’s errands, training sessions, couch time, or morning cuddle rituals. Bailey is ready for a forever home that will celebrate his quirks, honor his hand-holding contract, and love the sweet boy with the heart on his back. Bailey is best suited for a home with dog-savvy adults. He loves his people with an unmatched loyalty and devotion. Once you are in his circle of trust, the sky is the limit! When you adopt Bailey, you’re not just getting a dog — you’re getting a best friend who literally holds onto you. Bailey will only have eyes for his family, so he asks to be the only pet in the home. If interested in adopting Bailey, please complete an application, which can be found on our website at www.twentypawsrescue.com/forms-applications . Please note that due to an email glitch, sometimes emails get lost. We respond to all emails so if you don’t hear back from us, please follow up!

🚨 URGENT HOME NEEDED FOR NOVA 🚨 NOVA • ~1 YEAR OLD • CHOW MIX • ~20 LBS Nova is just a baby who has already spent far too much of her young life confined to a crate for 18+ hours a day. 💔 She was removed from that situation and is finally getting the chance to learn what being part of a family feels like. And despite what she’s been through, Nova is a sweetheart. ❤️ 🐾 Good with kids 🐱 Good with cats — she basically ignores them! 🐶 Generally good with other dogs ❤️ Playful, affectionate & active but manageable 🏡 Crate trained & working on house training 🎓 Knows sit and come ✂️ Spayed & vaccinated Nova loves playing outside and going for walks, but she’s equally happy coming inside and stretching out in the AC with her people. 🥰 She can be a little unsure around men and occasionally gets overwhelmed by very energetic dogs, so she just needs someone willing to give her patience and security. Nova desperately needs a permanent home. She has already lost enough time living her life from inside a crate. She deserves a family, a couch, a backyard to play in, and someone who will finally make her feel like she BELONGS. 🙏 Please don’t let Nova go any longer without her forever home ! HELP HER. Her person may be one share away. ❤️🐾 PLEASE TEXT KAREN 4136298152
