Story
Hi, I’m Barron ??I’m a 3-month-old fluffy Chow Chow mix, and yes — I am this cute on purpose. I’m soft, playful, and always ready for fun… but I should be honest with you right away: I am very needy.I love people. Like, a lot. So much that I sometimes whine just to make sure you’re still there. If you move rooms? I notice. If you stop petting me? I notice. If you exist? Hi. Me again.I’m a puppy through and through — curious, bouncy, and still figuring out the world. I want attention, reassurance, and someone who doesn’t mind a little (okay, a lot of) puppy commentary about how I feel at all times. If you’re looking for a quiet, independent dog… I am not him.If you want a fluffy shadow who thinks you are the center of the universe? Congratulations, you found me.I promise I’ll grow, learn, and gain confidence — but right now I’m just a sweet baby who wants love, playtime, and someone who doesn’t mind being needed. Is that you? Because I already love you ????Barron is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $650.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Barron will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. If you`d like to meet him please visit, we`re conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We`re open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm.Barron can`t wait to meet you!Sean Casey Animal Rescue153 E. 3 St.between Ft Hamilton Pkwy & Caton AveBrooklyn, NY 11218adoptions@nyanimalrescue.orgNYS Department of Agriculture and Markets Registration No. RR160

Story
Meet Stella! Homeless at 15 years old after her elderly owners couldn’t care for her any longer, she’s confused and terrified by her whole world being turned upside down. Already a shy skittish dog who enjoyed a quiet life devoted to her people, the shelter and then a multidog foster have all been a complete culture shock for this gentle old soul. She’s not aggressive, just avoidant and takes some time to warm up but we can tell there’s a sweet natured girl in there who just can’t comprehend all the chaos she’s been exposed to lately. She’s never lived with other animals and tries to avoid them but may be ok with another very calm older dog or 2 that just wants to nap on opposite ends of the room with her. She’s overall in good health, a 20lbs fluffy spitz type mix with some blue spots on her tongue that suggest some chow in her and we would guess some Pomeranian, Eskimo, schipperke, or other northern breeds as well to shrink her to a miniature version. She’s very soft and therapeutic to pet and the perfect size, seems to be housebroken and spends most of her time picking soft beds to take her naps on. We would love to get Stella into a nice quiet home ASAP- she’s not getting any younger ⏳ Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Stella in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Meet Blizzard | Apply Here Blizzard is the floofiest and smallest Chow Chow and we can not get enough of him. After seeing this boy’s photo on the @NYCACC New Hope Only list - for not adjusting well to the shelter - we knew we had to step in. He was originally an owner surrender, by no fault of his own, and definitely lives up to the Chow personality. He’s a mere 30lbs and just about 2 years old!Vocal and opinionated is the best we can describe this guy when he first meets you. Just as any Chow, he’s full of silly noises and animated gestures. It’s all fun and games though as he’s a total cuddle bug and wants nothing more than to be loved on. He’s soaring with his crate and potty training and has been picking up on foundational training quite well! Despite his derpy behavior he’s proving to be a smart dude. You’ll definitely want to apply early for this guy so you don’t miss your chance! Tap the link in our bio, fill out that application, and get in your virtual interview. We’ll see you this Saturday!   You don’t have to wait for an adoption event. In-person meet-and-greets are available in the NYC area, with virtual meet-and-greets available for adopters outside NYC.   Meet Us in Person KK9R Astoria - 24-07 31st St, Astoria, NY 11102  Adoption Hours: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM  Saturday, Feb 7th   Learn more about our adoption process: www.koreank9rescue.org/adoption-procedures www.koreank9rescue.org/adoption-faq   Korean K9 Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit saving dogs from the Korean dog meat trade and overcrowded shelters. Story
🩷 Rescue Story Yeonji was first noticed near my home on two separate occasions after escaping from her leash. Each time, she appeared timid but showed strong affection toward people—wagging her tail, staying close, and following me quietly. Knowing where she lived, I walked her back to her home and politely asked the owner if he had lost his dog. The owner was a man in his nineties, living alone in a severely dilapidated wooden house, and he had noticeable difficulty communicating. Although Yeonji had willingly followed me until then, she immediately ran away the moment she saw him. Assuming she had simply wanted to stay outside longer, I gently took her leash and handed her back. The owner then tied her to an extremely short chain. Feeling uneasy, I stayed nearby instead of returning home. Shortly after, I heard Yeonji screaming. I rushed back and witnessed the owner striking her repeatedly with an iron rod while she lay on the ground crying in pain. As it was late at night, I intervened verbally and stayed outside the property for some time to ensure the abuse stopped. The following day, I returned in daylight and, with the owner’s permission, removed Yeonji from the property and secured her safety. She has been living in foster care ever since. 🌿 Temperament & Behavior Yeonji has limited experience with cats, but in brief encounters she showed no aggression and little interest. She is highly social with other dogs. During first meetings, she engages calmly through sniffing and exploration without any aggressive behavior. She is well suited for a multi-dog household. With people, Yeonji is initially shy and does not approach strangers right away. However, within about one to two hours, she relaxes significantly and begins to show affection. She is particularly fearful of adult men and may bark once or twice from a distance. This behavior is fear-based and not aggressive. 🚶 Walking & Daily Life When first rescued, Yeonji was very timid on walks and stayed close behind her handler. As she settled in, her young and energetic nature began to emerge, and she now shows some leash pulling. She is currently in leash training and continues to improve. Her shedding level is moderate, around 6 out of 10. She has no known food allergies and eats well without being picky. 🏡 Habits & Training Yeonji defecates exclusively outdoors. She may urinate indoors, but when a designated potty pad is provided, she uses it appropriately. Occasionally, she may mistake white rugs or similar items for a potty pad. She may whine briefly when someone leaves the house, but this does not last long and she shows no other signs of separation anxiety. She barks only occasionally when startled or frightened, such as hearing unfamiliar noises or someone suddenly entering her space. These barks are brief and non-aggressive. 💛 Likes & Personality Yeonji is extremely affectionate with people, especially with her caregiver. She enjoys playing with other dogs and likes toys she can hold and manipulate with her front paws. She does not have strong dislikes, though unfamiliar objects or situations can make her cautious at first. She is currently living in a foster home and has been with her foster family for approximately two months.

He’s been living at the shelter ever since, and sadly hasn’t had a single chance to be fostered. With his adorable freckles, Liam is patiently waiting for a chance to finally experience the comfort of a loving home and a warm meal🙏 • Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Friendly Liam doesn’t shy away from new people—even adult men! He absolutely loves being around all the volunteers and getting affection. He’s a sweet, charming boy who’ll melt your heart with his cuddly nature and the way he asks for pets😍 / His energy level is moderate! He plays gently with toys without destroying them and knows how to rest quietly in his own space without showing signs of separation anxiety. • Affinity with - Dogs: He gets along really well with dogs who share a similar play style, but may have minor squabbles with those who don’t match his play style. - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Great with adults / Not tested with kids • Walking Manners: Although his walking experience is limited due to life at the shelter, he follows the handler’s lead well and walks calmly on a leash! • Housetrained: He will need some time and guidance with house training as he adjusts to a home environment. He will probably prefer the outdoors once he has regular walks. • Bathing/Brushing: For brushing and baths, he’s super cooperative—he stays close and makes it easy! • Car Sickness: Not tested • Separation Anxiety: None. • Barks/Howls: He may bark when he hears unfamiliar or sudden sounds, as they can startle him. • Appetite/Food Allergies: Eats well. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. Buddy was found alone on Jeju Island, South Korea, when he was just about one month old. He was discovered crying in a tangerine field, with no mother or littermates in sight. After being rescued, he was taken to a high-kill city shelter, where our organization stepped in to save him and place him in foster care. Since then, Buddy has been living in a loving foster home. Despite his incredibly sweet nature and excellent temperament, he has not yet received a single adoption inquiry. We truly believe this is only a matter of timing, because Buddy is an exceptional puppy. His foster parents describe him as “flawless”: he is smart, healthy, highly social, and friendly with both people and other dogs. He is almost finished teething and now has his permanent teeth coming in, and once his puppy coat finishes shedding, he is expected to grow into a very handsome dog. Buddy would do best in a home with another dog, as he enjoys canine companionship and gains confidence from it. Based on observation, he is not expected to do well in a home with cats. If you are looking for a loving, well-adjusted young dog and already have a canine companion, Buddy could be a wonderful match. If you are interested in learning more about him, please don’t hesitate to submit an application. The family who adopts Buddy will be incredibly lucky to have him. 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: - International transportation - Customs and export documentation - Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee.
