Story
Dusty is a 6 month old female cockapoo (best guess) who weighs 17 pounds. This pup was rescued as part of a humane case from poor conditions originally. When she was rescued, she was super shy and under socialized. Dusty was quickly adopted, but she is coming back to us due to her owner getting deployed. At her home, Dusty has been going by Chloe and she has made wonderful progress.. She's made remarkable strides, she's walking with a leash, moving around the house, and is less scared of people. She will do well in a house with children and other dogs. She is the sweetest thing and is going to make someone a wonderful companion. Story
Emily is a 7 year old spayed female cocker spaniel who weighs 30 pounds. We rescued her in partnership with another rescue and this girl is so sweet! She was understandably very shy to start, but now she is so wiggly, loves people and wants to play so bad! Emily would do best in a home with another dog to show her the ropes and a fenced in yard. She is working on walking on a leash, potty training and crate training, but we have no doubts that she will be trained in no time. Do have room in your home to give this sweet girl a new start? Meet sweet little storm from the X-men litter. When we saw her eyes we knew that storm was the perfect name for her. Storm aka Stormy is 8 weeks old weighs 7lbs UTD on vaccines and monthly preventives. She is just the sweetest little puppy honestly this whole litter is. She is starting to show a little bit of personality which has us laughing, and she is definitely a love bug. She would be a great addition to any family. We believe that full grown She will be a medium size dog. We know that her mom is 70% Beagle and 30% Border collie (DNA Test was done) dad we were told was a cocker spaniel maybe that's where the blue eye comes from? Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Teddy! Teddy is an 8-year-old, 20 lb. American Cocker Spaniel Mix who found himself at an overcrowded shelter when his owner’s health declined. Scared and confused, Teddy was very grateful to come into our care and be given his second chance at life. Unlike a lot of our seniors, Teddy is in amazing health and only required a quick dental. He requires no medications, has good vision and hearing, is crate trained, and is 100% potty trained. Teddy can give a small grumble if startled during nap time, so a home without small children is best. He would be happy to share his home with other dogs, but cats and other small animals go on the no no list. Teddy likes eating a combination of wet and dry food. He will give an excited bark or two at meal time or play time but is otherwise quiet. Teddy has a medium energy level, loves to go on walks, and would enjoy a yard to run around in. Teddy is incredibly smart and loves to learn new commands! His ideal home would be with a family that will continue to work with him. Teddy does have more energy than our typical senior dog, but he also loves his snoozes. He sleeps quietly throughout the night. Teddy loves people, loves cuddling, and will make someone the most amazing companion. Please don’t wait, apply today!

ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hi Everyone! My name is Jane, and I just arrived at CSAC. I was rescued from a puppy mill. I am scared because I have not been around a lot of people or lived in a home as a pet. I have spent my life in a barn, a shed or a cage. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training and acclimating to the outside world. The people in my new home should be able to teach me the skills I need to be a great pet: walking on a lead, house training, and socializing. I will need time to trust people who want what is best for me and are not going to hurt me. That is something I have not experienced so far in my life. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will help me to understand that I am a cherished family pet, not just an animal to be used to make money. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen.
