Story
Meet Kozmo!!! He is a loving, yearish old cocker spaniel weighing 17 lbs. that was surrendered from a commercial, breeder due to no fault of his own. He is very curious about the world and loves to chew on his toys. He is a bit skiddish at times, but that is because he is just discovering the world outside of a cage. He is great with dogs and kids and loves to play, often not knowing when to rest because he is so excited. He will fit right into a home that can give him lots of love, patience and reassurance. He loves to follow his person from room to room and loves to cuddle. He sleeps through the night in his crate without a peep. He does well in the crate other times as long as within eyesight of his person. He enjoys car rides, parks and being out and about. Potty training is a work in progress, but he is doing well. He does well with leash walking. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. He will need regular grooming to keep his coat from getting matted. If you think you are the right match for this sweet boy, apply today at https://www.zoeshouserescue.com/adopt Kennel license #9117

Story
Josie is a 4yr old spunky little cocker spaniel with a huge heart and an incredible capacity for love. Once she bonds with her person, she is deeply loyal and happiest when she can stay close by their side. She’s a true cuddle bug who enjoys lounging, napping, and soaking up attention throughout the day. Josie likes going for walks and spending time outside, but she doesn’t need constant activity. She has a medium energy level and is content playing with small toys or relaxing around the house. When Josie was first rescued, she was very shut down, but she has made remarkable progress in foster care. She is still learning how to “be a dog,” and it’s been wonderful to see her discover the fun parts of life—like toys (and learning which items are not toys 😄). True to her cocker spaniel roots, Josie has a bit of a diva side—she loves wet food, which has also been a helpful motivator as she learns new things. Because of her background, Josie does have some sensitivities. She appears to be fearful of men, especially those with beards, and may also be uneasy around hats. While this could improve over time, Josie will be most successful in a home where her primary caregiver is a woman. She has lived in a foster home with a toddler and does not show fear around children. Josie does well with cats and tolerates other dogs, though she can become jealous when sharing attention. She is very much a “human dog” rather than a “dog’s dog” and would thrive as the center of someone’s world. She may do best as an only dog or with a calm companion who doesn’t compete for attention. Josie is still working on potty training and currently uses pee pads. While she may be able to transition to going outside in the future, she spooks easily, so for now her adopter will need to be comfortable continuing pee pad use and working at her pace. She is crate trained for bedtime and when her humans leave the house. Josie does struggle with separation anxiety and will bark when left alone. She is currently taking Prozac daily as prescribed by her veterinarian to help manage her anxiety. She also has a sedative prescribed for use as needed during longer periods of being left alone. Both medications are very affordable. Because of this, Josie would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time or has a flexible schedule. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and unbelievably loyal little companion, with a touch of diva flair—Josie may be the perfect match. With patience, understanding, and a loving home, she will continue to blossom into the wonderful dog she’s meant to be. Please apply at www.zoeshouserescue.com Kennel license 9117 Reading PA 19608

Story
Not only is this girl drop dead gorgeous, but you can probably tell by looking at her pictures, that FUN is her middle name! She has an exuberant personality…full of energy, she’s lively & outgoing, making her a lot of fun to be around! Molly seems to love everybody that she meets, adults as well as children, but she might be a little over the top for small kids. She gets along great with other active dogs…NO CATS though. She’s not always full steam ahead, she also enjoys cuddling and belly rubs at the end of the day! All this sweet girl needs now is an active family to love her and include her in their everyday comings and goings. Molly is 3 years old, weighs 27 pounds, has been spayed, microchipped, 4DX heartworm tested, fecal tested, current on all vaccinations, worming and is on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $400. Molly is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted she will be transported to her pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the New England area every week and her fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! ADOPTED! MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION: Hello, my name is Hedy. My owner lived in a senior living community. Eventually, she had to go into memory care. The kind people at the senior living community took care of me so I could be with my owner until the end. Now that she is gone, the managers of the community felt I needed a new home to call my own so they asked CSAC to help find me a new home. I am fantastic with people, I was surrounded by over a hundred every day. I am not very good with other dogs especially high energy dogs who get too close too quickly. I am house trained and good with children. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. Hopefully, I will find my new family that will turn me into a happy, cherished family pet again. Hope to see you soon. For more information about this dog, email our Adoption Coordinator. Our adoption process starts with an application. If you are interested in adopting this pup, please click the Adopt menu at the top of the screen, read about our process, and click the application link. The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. Click the Donate menu at the top of the screen. My owner passed away so his sister asked CSAC to help find me a new home. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. I do have dry eye, but a few eye drops take care of that. I need a home where the people are home more than away. I love my people, playing with squeaky toys, and fetching a ball. The best home for me has people who have dog experience who can help with my training. I am energetic, very playful, and jump up on people.
