Yes, it’s the same Hershel, and he’s been in our care for quite some time. This special senior boy came to us with a laundry list of medical needs, and after lots of love, TLC, and several surgeries, he’s finally ready to find his forever home!Hershel is a happy, easygoing guy with plenty of spunk and SO much love to give. He LOVES stuffed animals, enjoys playing with toys, and never says no to a good back or butt scratch. He’s a fan of cozy beds, soft blankets, leisurely walks, tasty treats (even if his tummy doesn’t always agree!), and spending time with his favorite people. He’d also enjoy a canine companion, especially a female dog, and doesn’t mind cats.Hershel is deaf and mostly blind, so routine and a calm, predictable environment help him feel safe. He’ll need a fenced yard to explore and potty safely, a home with someone around to help with frequent potty breaks and four small meals a day, and a family who understands that occasional accidents can happen. He’s housebroken, but age and medical needs sometimes have other plans.Hershel has IBS, a thyroid condition, high blood pressure, and an eye that requires daily drops. He takes daily medications but is a very good boy about it! He can manage a few shallow steps but not a full flight due to his limited vision. A home without young children is best, as they can startle him. New people and dogs should be introduced slowly and gently since he can’t see them coming.We know there’s someone out there with room in their heart for a senior gentleman who needs a little extra attention. Hershel has so much personality, and endless love to share.
