Meet Baxter! Baxter is a joyful, six-year-old Cocker Spaniel with a lovable personality and a whole lot of spunk. He's mostly housebroken, crate-trained, and brings happiness everywhere he goes! This sweet boy recently tested positive for Lyme, but he was a champ with his medication and completed his treatment with no complications. Baxter is a devoted companion who loves his people deeply. In true Cocker Spaniel fashion, he has shown some protective instincts-occasionally giving a warning growl if he feels another dog or person might be a threat to his foster mom-so he'll do best in a family without small children and an adopter who understands dog communication and isn't startled by a growl. He enjoys going outside but prefers when his human goes with him. With regular potty breaks and a little routine, he does wonderfully. If skipped, he may leave a "reminder," so he'll thrive with someone who can accompany him outdoors a few times a day. Baxter gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and loves being near his people-following his foster mom from room to room. He settles nicely in a crate, though he may bark if he knows you're home and he's not with you. And when it's time to come out? Baxter celebrates like he just won the lottery! He is really a sweet dog. Was mistreated when he was younger. With the right person with patience, he will be a great dog. I My sister passed away on Monday and we really want to get him a good home with no kids and no cats. I am pretty sure he is ok with other dogs. My sister would take him for walks with another person (and her dog) and they got along fine. You just cannot touch his neck. So I am thinking that the abuse was part of this. If you don't pay attention to him, he will not attack. He will at some point, start trusting. He needs someone with patience to get him adapted to a new home. We have to go back to PA on Saturday, so please contact me ASAP if you can help this poor little guy that just lost his mom. I worried about leaving him at the shelters. We don't want an adoption fee. We just want him to have a great life. thank you! .

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Not only is this girl drop dead gorgeous, but you can probably tell by looking at her pictures, that FUN is her middle name! She has an exuberant personality…full of energy, she’s lively & outgoing, making her a lot of fun to be around! Molly seems to love everybody that she meets, adults as well as children, but she might be a little over the top for small kids. She gets along great with other active dogs…NO CATS though. She’s not always full steam ahead, she also enjoys cuddling and belly rubs at the end of the day! All this sweet girl needs now is an active family to love her and include her in their everyday comings and goings. Molly is 3 years old, weighs 27 pounds, has been spayed, microchipped, 4DX heartworm tested, fecal tested, current on all vaccinations, worming and is on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $400. Molly is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted she will be transported to her pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the New England area every week and her fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

Colette will be around 25 pounds as an adult, she is spayed, heartworm negative and is on ProHeart6 heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is 650.00, transport fee is 165.00 The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
