Mateo is a 7 month old neutered male cockapoo who weighs 21 pounds. These pups lived their entire lives in a shed and came to us very matted. After a haircut and some good treats, they blossomed right out of their shells and became our best friends. They have tested great with other dogs, wag their tails like crazy and come when called. ✨Meet Winter!✨ Winter is an 8-year-old King Charles Cavalier mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. Winter had a very difficult life before coming to us, being used as a mill mama her entire life. She is shut down at this time but is slowly starting to give us her trust. We are confident she will make a wonderful family member for a very lucky family, who understands her past and gives her the time she needs to trust them and her new surroundings. Winter loves other animals, and will thrive in a home with at least one other dog. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! We promise there is nothing that compares to gaining the love and trust of a mill mama, but it requires intentional effort and commitment from their new family. With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! ✨Meet Brighton!✨ Brighton came to us after being surrendered by his previous family due to him needing more exercise, training, and time than they were able to give him. Brighton is a 3 year old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel/Sheltie mixed breed who is a very high energy boy! He has lived with other dogs, and is very dog friendly. He would prefer a home without children, but has lived around young children who have dog experience. He is house trained, and a handsome boy! Brighton is a vocal and active dog that will require a family up to the task of providing him the ample physical and mental exercise and training that he requires. He would love an active family who is looking for an adventure buddy, running companion, or agility dog! He doesn’t love to cuddle but will happily be right by your side on any of life’s adventures!
