Story
i I’m Raiden. I’m a 3 year old, neutered 35 pound Shepherd mix. I’m housetrained. I’m crate trained. I like kids and adults. I can get excited when first meeting. After that you do your thing, I’ll do mine. Cats are a no-no. Dogs, I love all sizes. I live with dogs from 15 pounds up to 60 pounds. I really like to follow the leader, if the dog wants to play I can play with the best. If the dog is more chill, I can chill and snuggle with you. Raiden’s adoption fee is $295. If you’re looking for a fun loving guy & are interested in meeting Raiden, then using the menu at the top of the page, click on Adoption Application. Complete & submit your application, which will serve as the basis for a conversation, & you will be contacted. We will make arrangements to meet with prospective adopters for Raiden only after a submitted application has been reviewed & a phone conversation has taken place. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Raiden’s adopter must live in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.***

Story
Buck is a 2-year-old Collie x Poodle mix with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines bright. He’s playful, affectionate, and known for his signature move – giving big, wet, sloppy kisses to everyone he meets. Buck came to us through no fault of his own and has shown nothing but sweetness and gratitude since arriving. He’s incredibly smart and gentle and would thrive in a home where he can be the only animal, soaking up all the love and attention he deserves. Buck is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family who will cherish him forever.

Story
Lassie is a "Shollie" - a Collie Shepherd mix - and is a new arrival that is just 3 years old and weighs about 65lbs. She is said to be super sweet and friendly and has an above average energy level, but NO cats for this girly. Foster home update: Lassie is an energetic, curious girl, that welcomes all visitors into her foster home and is one smart cookie! She plays well with the resident dog, loves every toy and can play all day like the energizer bunny! A fenced yard is recommended to give her room to run off all her energy. Lassie understands basic commands: sit, stay, off and will give paw. She is completely housebroken and practicing calm leash walking is in progress. She will alert you to any passerbys just to keep you updated. She has been practicing and improving on her "wait" command and has already made progress!  We recommend training for all our dogs!     **Breed or size (once fully grown) is a 'best guess' and is not guaranteed since they arrived into rescue without either parent. **Magnificent Mutts is an all foster home based rescue and meets are held by appointment with the entire family in attendance. Please ensure your current pets are up to date with vetting, have landlord/HOA approval and are prepared to take your new family member home at the adoption appointment.  Thank you for your interest!                             If you are interested in adoption, please complete the "Application to Adopt" which can be accessed from this link: (     www.magnificentmutts.org )  No phone calls please, emails only. Adoption donations range between $400-$450 (cash only), unless otherwise noted. Prices are subject to change, please contact for specific adoption donation. Story
Meet sweet Juna 🤍🧡🤍 She is eight months old, 30 pounds and is spayed. The fluffiness-factor that her ears bring is off the chart. And her tail, too! But it's those round, soulful eyes of hers that warm our hearts. Juna is a complete love. She melts into affection and has a very soft, gentle personality. She develops relationships and thrives on connection. We would love to see Juna's confidence built! She can be underconfident so the best case adoption-scenario for her would be an adopter with herding dog experience who is also knowledgeable about helping dogs come out of their shells. In Juna's previous home, she lived with a cat. We always suggest a slow introduction but Juna is open to living with feline friends! We will let you know what she thinks about dog friends soon! Until then, please come meet her at Michiana Humane Society 🤍🧡🤍

Story
Calling All Bluey Fans... Meet Lily! If you've fallen in love with Blue Heelers because of Bluey, we'd love to introduce you to a real-life Blue Heeler looking for a family of her own. Meet Lily. Lily is a sweet Blue Heeler who can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she's never shown aggression. She simply needs a little time and patience to realize she's safe. To help prepare her for life in a home, Lily was selected to participate in Missouri's Puppies for Parolees program, where shelter dogs receive obedience training, socialization, and confidence-building while working with inmate trainers. The program helped Lily come out of her shell and gave her a wonderful foundation for success. Unfortunately, after completing the program, she had to return to the shelter to continue waiting for a family. Thankfully, her story took another positive turn when a foster stepped up to help. Lily is now attending daycare every day, where she continues building confidence, learning new skills, and becoming more comfortable in the world around her. Watching Lily blossom has been incredibly rewarding. She just needs someone willing to continue that journey. With patience, kindness, and understanding, we believe Lily will become an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. She's looking for a family that will celebrate each little milestone and help her discover all the wonderful things life has to offer. Every confident dog was once a puppy learning about the world. Lily is simply catching up—and she's making progress every single day. If you have a soft spot for the gentle ones and understand that the best relationships are built on trust, Lily may be the perfect addition to your family. Basics: She is a spayed female guessed to be around 2 yrs old and she weighs close to 45lbs. Adoption Process: - Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application - One of our team members will get back to you via phone. - Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding - Adoption fee helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip. -We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available. About Day of the Dogs Day of the Dogs is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter and rescue dogs find safety, families, and second chances. Founded in 2015 Day of the Dogs began we witnessed firsthand the devastating shelter overcrowding crisis facing southern communities, where some shelters have only days to find an outcome for homeless pets. Today, Day of the Dogs coordinates life-saving transports from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other southern areas to rescue partners, shelters, fosters, and adopters in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City region — communities where adoption demand can help create better outcomes for pets in need. We also focus on long stay dogs in the Greater Kansas City and surrounding rural areas to help those pets get out of kennels and into homes. We also facilitate direct adoptions through our foster networks in both Kansas City and Northwest Indiana and partner with shelters and rescue organizations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana to save more lives together. Because every open foster home creates another opportunity to save a dog, we are always looking for foster families to join our mission. Day of the Dogs operates entirely on donations. Every transport, veterinary appointment, supply purchase, and life saved is possible because of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance. Donate or learn more: www.dayofthedogs.org
