Story
Updated Raiden bio & pics! Hi I’m Raiden, an almost 3 year old, 36 pound, male, Shepherd mix. I’m good with people. I like kids. I’m house trained and crate trained. I love the dogs at my foster home, big and small. Sometimes I can be a little much for the senior, blind guy. Then I just take a break in my crate. I am a no cats kind of pup. So no Felines in my home. If you’re looking for a playful and fun loving guy, I might be your match. Raiden’s adoption fee is $395. If you’re looking for a fun loving guy & are interested in meeting Raiden, then using the menu at the top of the page, click on Adoption Application. Complete & submit your application, which will serve as the basis for a conversation, & you will be contacted. We will make arrangements to meet with prospective adopters for Raiden only after a submitted application has been reviewed & a phone conversation has taken place. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Raiden’s adopter must live in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.***

Story
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who shines as bright as her name, Star is your girl! This 7–8-year-old Collie/Shepherd mix is the perfect blend of playful energy and sweet snuggles. Star loves the outdoors — playing fetch with her tennis ball, going for walks, and hanging out with her foster brother. She’s a smart cookie who knows her cues, and her foster family has found the magic word: say “attention!” and she’ll trot right over, sit politely, and wait for her favorite treat (carrots, please!). She’s an alert pup who likes to keep an eye on her surroundings — she’ll let you know when strangers, school buses, or garbage trucks are nearby. With gentle guidance and focus, she does wonderfully on walks and continues to improve on her leash manners. Star is both house and kennel trained, though she doesn’t need to be crated — she’s a polite lady who can be trusted home alone. She’s also great with kids (her foster nieces, ages 3 and 10, adore her!) and would love an active household where she can play hard and cuddle harder. Whether she’s chasing a ball, exploring the yard, or curling up on the couch for movie night, Star will fill your home with love and loyalty. She’s ready to bring joy to her forever family — could that be you? Star is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round preventative, spayed and microchipped. She weighs about 50 lbs. If you are interested in providing Star her best life ever, and adding her to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and adopts local to our area.

Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Estelle is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey on our website to learn more about her and schedule a phone call or meet and greet with her foster. Estelle is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Estelle: Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: She has done well in her crate when home alone for up to a full workday. She has also done well overall with free roam, but can be more sensitive to noises in the building. Leash walking: She is reactive to other dogs, people, and cars quickly driving by. She would do best in a quiet, low-traffic neighborhood and with continued training to work on this. Dog social: Estelle has seemed comfortable with some but not all other dogs, and will need to be the only dog in her future home Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: Likely not a match, as she can be nervous with new people Estelle likes: - Snuggling, cuddling, and giving kisses - Using her brain to solve puzzle toys and learn new things - Playing tug and burning off some energy Estelle is an extremely smart and affectionate pup who is always looking out for you! She lives for cuddle time, and will always accept any belly rubs you have to offer her. Her underbite is not noticeable at first but it gives her a perpetual puppy pout that is just to die for. A sensitive gal, Estelle is likely a better fit for an adult-only home where she'll be given time, space and treats when meeting new people. She would prefer to be the only dog in the home, and to live in a quiet neighborhood where she won't encounter too many triggers on walks, given her leash reactivity. She would also appreciate an adopter who can provide her with plenty of mental enrichment to help channel her energy in positive ways! Estelle has been taking behavior support medication to aid in her training goals. Estelle's adoption fee has been sponsored by generous supporters, and she is eager to cuddle up with her forever family! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***
