Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Meet Winter, a resilient Collie mix with a heart as bright as her name. Back in April, we received a call about a group of puppies who weren’t being cared for properly. Among them was Winter. She had already endured more than any puppy should—caught in a home with neglect and drug abuse, she was kicked by one of the owners, leaving her front leg broken and untreated. When we arrived in Tuscaloosa and saw her pain and fear, we knew immediately that she needed us. The very next day, our vet confirmed the break. With proper care, love, and healing, Winter made a full recovery. Today, she’s thriving—happy, energetic, and playful, with all the sweetness you could ask for in a companion. Her beautiful white coat with warm red patches and her soulful eyes make her just as stunning on the outside as she is strong on the inside. Winter is ready for her forever home—a family who will treasure not only her playful energy and loving nature, but also the story of resilience she carries with her. If you’re looking for a dog who embodies both joy and strength, Winter is waiting to meet you.

Story
Meet MARCY, she’s looking for her hero! “Adopted dogs don’t just find homes, they find heroes.” Marcy is a 3-year-old beautiful Border Collie mix. She’s not just beautiful, she’s the kind of breathtaking beauty that makes time pause. Marcy loves to play and have fun in our agility fields. Her heart is like a sponge; she cherishes every minute you spend with her. Kennel life weighs heavily on her gentle spirit. The minute she walks away, she’s so happy and carefree, and her personality shines like the brightest star in the night sky—lighting up everything around her. Marcy’s incredibly sweet, takes treats with the gentlest touch, and her intelligence—true to her breed—is remarkable. Marcy once had a family, but when they moved, she was left behind. She’s been quietly grieving ever since, waiting for someone to see her, love her, and bring her home. She doesn’t ask for much—just a place by your side and a place in your heart. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving best friend who will cherish you every single day, Marcy is 100% ready to be your forever companion. Come meet Marcy! Story
ADOPT DRACO Draco is an 11 month old Aussie/Border Collie mix. He is neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines and preventatives. While his name sake was a sneaky troublemaker from House Slytherin, Draco certainly doesn’t fit into that mold. Draco is most definitely a member of the Hufflepuff House. This boy is madly in love with his humans. He is great with children. He has lived with cats and is working on his social skills with other dogs. He is incredibly exited to meet any new doggie friends and he’s learning how to control that excitement. Pack walks (the whole fam, and fur family too), to burn energy and build bonds and boundaries are great for Draco. This boy is also OBSESSED with fetch and could play for hours. This boy exhibits some Ravenclaw traits as well. He’s so very eager to make his beloved humans happy and is very motivated to learn and train! He’s a smart boy and learns fast with treats and love! He is house and crate trained! Story
Meet Ripley fka Panera: Ripley is a 1 year old (as of September 2025) cattle dog / lab / terrier mix (our best guess) that weighs about 37 pounds. She’s an absolute cuddle bug. She is your typical young dog, so she’s extra cute and spunky. She may be small for her breed but is packed with personality! She is a “Velcro dog” who always wants to be attached at the hip, thus earning her the nickname - “Grippy.” Ripley plays hard and cuddles even harder. She is very talkative and will let you know when she wants something or if someone is nearby. She knows sit, down, and has excellent recall skills. Ripley has been through a lot in the short time she’s been on this earth, so it can take some time for her to warm up to someone. She is initially scared of new dogs, animals, and strangers. She does well with slow introductions, but once she trusts you, she’ll be your best companion. Although she has an abundance of great qualities, she would do best as an only pet in a home and no small children. She likes to play with other dogs but doesn’t like to share. Ripley needs an experienced foster or adopter who has time to give her the mental and physical stimulation she needs and knows how to handle resource guarding behaviors.  Ripley is house-trained and crate-trained. We would love for Ripley to have a home with a fenced in yard for her to run and play freely. Ripley is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. If you are interested in adding this adorable girl into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Meet Rascal:  Rascal is a 4 year old Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix that weighs around 41 pounds.  Rascal was rescued from a high kill shelter a day before she was to be euthanized.  Rascal loves attention and is very sweet.  Rascal can be dog selective but has no reaction to cats. We recommend older children because Rascal is energetic and sometimes jumps on you. Overall Rascal is a nice girl...just needs some work and stability. Rascal is house and crate trained but needs some work on her leash walking. Rascal will need a fenced in yard where she can run and a family that is very active and experienced. Rascal will make a great dog in the right home. Rascal is up to date on all her shots and spayed. If you were interested in adopting this sweet girl, please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.
