Barley is the cutest, and sweetest guy! Barley is a wonderful, 3 - 4 year old, 29 lb Corgi mix with one of the most endearing faces you’ve ever seen. You can see the wisdom in his dark eyes that quietly ask for reassurance and love. Barley is just naturally a friendly and positive pup that enjoys his relationships with both large and small dogs. This sweetheart is very social and great with all people he meets, too! Barley was surrendered to the shelter in New Mexico when his owners were moving out of state and decided that they could not bring him with them. Despite the upheaval in his life, Barley remains a gentle and kind soul. He is snuggly, social, and so silly! From Barley's foster: * * * * "Barley is doing so so well! He is eating well, and he's potty trained! We put him in a crate at night on his first night home, and he whined a little when put in his crate, but we moved the crate to our bedroom and then he was able to settle. Since the first night, we have let him sleep out of the crate (he gained that trust easily!) on a dog bed in the living room, and he does great! We also leave him loose in the family room when we leave the house, and he does totally fine! He isn't much of a barker, but does bark with excitement when we get home. It's cute! He loves walks and is friendly with other dogs and people that he meets. We brought him to the farmers market and he was so sweet with everyone and every dog there! He comes when I make a kissy sound so I'm using that to teach him "come". We are working on teaching him "sit" and "down" as well. Barley LOVES to snuggle. If I stop snuggling him, he nuzzles in and asks for more. He's so so so affectionate and social. He had an upset tummy when he first came home, so he's been on a bland diet and his belly is feeling much better! His neuter site is healing well, and he only has needed to wear his cone a few times." * * * * Barley would do great in a home with retirees, adults or older kids where he will get lots of love and attention. He’d thrive with someone who works from home or is retired, as he loves to snuggle and would hate to be left home alone for long hours while his family worked full time outside of the home. Since Barley is a young dog, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Barley will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free obedience classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a dog's's ultimate behavior and in his relationship and bonding with his people. Ben is currently enrolled in a board-and-train program with a professional dog trainer, where he’s working on his manners, listening skills, and learning how to make the very best choices. Freya is a sweet energetic Corgi Terrier mix that loves to play and cuddle with her humans. She enjoys playing with Hemi, a big male Rottweiler Shepard mix. We have taken her to the dog park and she does fine around other dogs as well. She prefers catch to fetch. She loves bully sticks and pig ears. She is very food motivated and very smart. She can be a little too energetic at times and tries to jump and give open mouth kisses which can frighten some people and children. We rescued Freya and Hemi when their previous owner couldn't afford to keep them. For several weeks Freya and Hemi integrated well with our rescue Ceres. However Ceres' resource aggression came out and she and Freya occasionally fought over treats and toys. We have been working with the dogs and they have all improved greatly, but we have been unable to stop Ceres from starting fights entirely. My husband and I have come to the hard decision to rehome Freya to a safe and loving forever home.

Marcy is the type of dog that makes people smile almost immediately. She has a goofy, happy personality, loves being involved in whatever you are doing, and absolutely lives for water. If there is a pond, creek, kiddie pool, or muddy shoreline nearby, Marcy will find it. Marcy is a stocky, short-legged mixed breed girl around 45 pounds full grown with a personality that balances confidence and sensitivity in a really unique way. She loves adventures, swimming, exploring, and outdoor activities, but she is not a nonstop high-energy dog. She can absolutely keep up on hikes, walks, or active days, then happily relax afterward. She is great with other dogs and cats. With dogs, she does best around friendly, respectful personalities. She can get intimidated if another dog is overly pushy or tries to dominate her, but outside of that she is social, playful, and very happy around other animals. With new people, Marcy can sometimes give a little low growl at first. It is not aggression and she has never shown aggressive behavior. It is simply her way of saying she needs a moment to process and get comfortable. Once she settles in, her affectionate and goofy personality comes out quickly. She is basically an extroverted introvert. Marcy would be a great fit for someone looking for a dog that enjoys adventures and outdoor time but does not need constant stimulation to stay happy. She especially needs a family that understands that not every friendly dog is instantly social with strangers, and that giving a dog a few minutes to warm up is completely okay. Jack is an adorable ball of cottony fluff that deserves the love and goodness of a great adopter with love in their hearts and an understanding that acclimation to a new life can take a bit of time. Our sweet Jack has had a challenging time in his short life. Shelters are terrifying to a little guy who doesn't understand why he's in this terribly loud and scary place. A long transport from Houston to Boulder is equally so but worth everything to get Jack to a safe and nurturing environment. Through all the changes, this pup has never shown an ounce of aggression or meanness. It's as if he knows that a far better life is waiting for him. At just about 4 - 5 years old and just 27 lbs, Jack is a perfect size for a retired couple or individual. He would thrive on the time and attention that this group often put into their doggy best friends. A younger individual that works from a home-based office (to cuddle sweet Jack periodically over the course of the day) would also be perfect for a little guy who is searching for love and acceptance in his life. With patience and without a time agenda, Jack will emerge and slowly his fears will slip away as he bonds with his new family. Jack enjoys his quiet time at home and thrives on the familiarity of a schedule. He will fall hard for an individual or couple that enjoys quiet times in their home coupled with outdoor fun. Jack is happy going on rides in the car / van and will love the time together with his family. Right now Jack is a blank slate who, with guidance, will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Jack, once comfortable is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion.
