Story
** If you are interested in adopting Buddy, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Look at this sweet, stumpy legged, underbite little boy! Buddy is an adorable Corgi / Golden Retriever mix. (His breed is an educated guess but we think he may have some Tibetan Spaniel in him too!) Buddy is 3 years old and 28 lbs. He was surrendered to a small shelter in New Mexico, by a person who has been backyard breeding and then relinquishing dogs for months. Poor Buddy was so confused when he ended up in the shelter, because regardless of how they used him, that was his "home"... but once he warmed up he showed how adorable he really was. He is so much more comfortable around other dogs that when he's with another dog he is not nervous at all, so he does require a home with another dog. The following is from Buddy's foster: * * * * * "Buddy is such a great dog!!! Since coming home, he's opening up SO much and is a great boy! He's learned the dog door, is potty trained, crate trained, not destructive, and sleeps loose on a dog bed at night. He answers to Buddy (his or original name) and he even jumped on the couch for snuggles today! After a day or two of letting him get comfortable, he's learned the routine quickly and is a smart little guy. He's definitely a dog's dog and MUST go to a home with with another dog (or a few) in the home. He loves to snuggle other dogs and has no issues sharing a bed, food, couch, or treats. He was very timid at the shelter and was surrendered from a home with a bunch of dogs. When he was surrendered, he was SO scared and timid and not happy, so I took him home and as soon as he got into the home with my dogs he was a whole new dog. He's such a sweet boy, and truly the cutest too!" * * * * * We'd like to place Buddy in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Buddy has been fully vetted, is in great health, and up to date on his vaccines. He was not able to be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado, and since the transport can be stressful we are wanting to give him time to settle in before neutering. Neuter is required to be done within one month of Buddy's adoption date, and required to finalize any adoption. We do cover the full cost of his neuter. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
