Story
If you're searching for a devoted and loving best friend, Bixby is the guy you want to have around! Bixby, at 4 - 5 years old old and 27 lbs is just naturally a lover. When he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Bixby is a gorgeous and sweet as can be Corgi / Cattle Dog mix (check out his stunning tricolor coat with the cutest markings) all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved family companions. Farfel's Rescue received a plea from our Texas rescue partner asking us to save the life of sweet Bixby. This is through no fault of his own but rather due to lack of space in the shelter. They described this adorable Corgi mix as wonderful, kind and very loving. Bixby is an affectionate and loving guy once comfortable in his situation. He can be initially shy (completely understandable considering the challenges of his previous life) who would enjoy nothing more (once comfortable) than sitting on your lap for cuddles, going on long hikes through the gorgeous Colorado mountains and at day's end, crashing and snuggling close all night long. Bixby is a friendly, playful and silly little guy. He has happily interacted with other gentle dogs and his Texas foster mom and dad. They found him absolutely irresistible once over his initial shyness. Bixby has a never-ending positive attitude and will love his family with all his heart. He would definitely enjoy another sweet dog to play with, and then would love nothing more than to lie together in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day. Bixby will have so much fun exploring the paths and trails Colorado's high country. He is always open to new activities with a great attitude...just say the word and up Bixby jumps for a car ride to a dog-friendly destination, a fun backyard game or just a sociable walk around the neighborhood. Bixby is a very loving dog! We would like to see him in a home with a family (older kids only so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet pup. We'd hate to see Bixby left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. He seems to be too sensitive for that type of arrangement. Bixby will thrive on spending the days near his people getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Bixby in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a sweet pup whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Bixby out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Bixby's stunning tricolor coat is currently shelter-sad. He will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care and general health) to keep Bixby's coat cottony-soft and shining with excellent health. Bixby has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's contention that our adopted dogs are always completely healthy. He has also been neutered to forward Farfel's commitment to a euthanasia - free future within the canine population. Bixby will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 2/4/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Bixby please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Does this guy look familiar? This is Cody’s brother, Taz. In an interesting turn of events, the new owner of the pair didn’t have the time to take care of Taz so determined it was in his best interest to give him to Rescue. Taz is a super sweet and loving 1.5 y/o cowboy Corgi. He weighs approximately 26# and would like another friendly dog in his new home who doesn’t mind him being bossy at times or could be an only dog. Humans who aren’t gone long hours will be best as he is used to having someone around and wants to bond with his new person. Taz is potty trained but might lift his leg some in a new place. He’s recently neutered so that should diminish over time. Taz is a little too curious about cats and had not been tested with kids and is herdy so cats aren’t recommended and kids 12+. Taz is new to the leash but very treat motivated to learn. He sleeps in a dog bed at night. He can be hand shy in new situations and likes riding along on the atv with his foster dad. Taz loves to be outside running so the more space the better and requires a secure fenced in yard or farm and is not a good fit for an apartment situation. His humans should be ok with the bark of a Heeler, although he mostly uses it when he’s excited and not unnecessarily. If you are interested in meeting Taz the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home.  He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, chipped, and HW Negative. His adoption fee is $400 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.November 17, 2025, 10:39 am

Story
Cody is ready to find his forever home! Cody was found out on the plains of CO limping on 3 legs. A kind person contacted us to get him the medical care he needed. After an FHO and physical therapy, Cody is using his leg again, although there are still times when he reverts back since he likely used 3 legs for most of his life prior to surgery. Cody is a super sweet and loving 1.5 y/o cowboy Corgi. He weighs approximately 25# and will need another friendly dog in his new home and humans who aren’t gone long hours. Cody is potty trained and crate trained although he can have some excited urination when his person comes home. He is still in his puppy stage and learning about chewing on appropriate things so does require a certain amount of supervision and dog-safe chews like no hides and bully sticks. Cody has not been tested with cats or kids and although very sweet and even tempered, he can be herdy so cats aren’t recommended and kids 12+. Cody is good on the leash, treat motivated, and sleeps in a dog bed at night. He is shy in new situations and doesn’t love the car but is getting used to shorter trips to fun places. Cody requires a secure fenced in yard with room to run around, a moderately active family, and is not a good fit for an apartment situation. His humans should be ok with the bark of a Heeler, although he mostly uses it when he’s excited and not unnecessarily. Cody would benefit from a basic manners class to bond, learn, and gain confidence. If you’re interested in meeting Cody, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at  https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms  We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Cody is neutered, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $400 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado. November 18, 2025, 10:29 pm

Story
Cookie is a very special 3-year-old, 22# Corgi likely mixed with Chihuahua. Cookie is potty trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. She is microchipped, spayed, utd, HW-, and received a clean bill of health from the vet. We think that Cookie may have had some trauma in her past and is looking for a fairly dog savvy, patient, and loving home who can help her heal. We have been working with a behaviorist and have found that low dose anti anxiety meds are very helpful so Cookie will need to remain on those for the foreseeable future. We’d like her adopter to stay in contact with her trainer and be able to follow protocol for touching, feeding, and introductions. In her foster home her favorite things are playing fetch with small stuffed toys and napping on the sofa. She is still nervous about sudden movement and noises so will need a family who can be calm and patient as she gets comfortable. She knows how to sit and come but is sometimes too nervous to listen, and like most dogs, would benefit from more training, which the rescue is willing to match while she settles into her new home. Best traits: Enjoys being with people she trusts, Potty trained, Crate trained, Walks nicely on a leash, Not destructive. Her dislikes are unexpected movements and noises, loud trucks, and being picked up if very scared.   Cookie’s ideal home would be with an adult female who is patient and willing to work with her and a trainer and who is home more often. She doesn’t seem to mind cats, at arms length (not tested up close). She would also need slow introductions with any low key calm canine companion in her new home. If you are interested in meeting Cookie, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Her adoption fee is $375 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.  January 20, 2026, 11:24 pm

Story
Meet Rhaenyra! (who we call Rayna) She is a friendly, happy girl from Kansas who came to CCFR as an owner surrender. She is almost 18 months old, about 27 pounds, and has a sweet disposition. She has one blue eye, and a beautiful curly tail. She is energetic, playful, and loves to be by her person, whatever they may be doing. She is one of the best lap dogs ever and will happily join you in any couch time. She is crate trained but would prefer sleeping with or near you at night. She is doing well with her potty training and walks nicely on a leash. She does well with other dogs and playing chase is a must in a playmate. She came from a home with a lot of dogs, so this girl is ready for some much needed attention to truly flourish. Rayna enjoys daily walks, playtime, and of course some snuggles. Her ideal home would be with someone who is not gone long hours as she is still young and active. She is a typical vocal corgi so shared walls are not recommended and herding breed experience is preferred. She is not cat tested but older, respectful children will be considered because of her friendly nature. She is up to date on immunizations, spayed, microchipped, and heart worm negative. If you are interested in meeting Rayna, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms. We require references (non-related please), and a home visit prior to the meet and greet. Her adoption fee is $450 and we are not adopting out of state.January 24, 2026, 6:43 pm

Story
This amazing ball of floof is Oreo. Oreo was surrendered by his owner due to too many dogs. Oreo is almost 2y/o and 35#. He is a good boy who is looking for an active home with another playful tolerant dog his size. He is a bit fearful of bigger dogs and gets easily overstimulated. Oreo walks well on the leash and needs longer daily walks plus other mental and physical exercise, and weekend hikes, or a working or sport home. He’d love a basic doggie manners class where he could bond with his person and show you how smart he is. Oreo is working on marking indoors and still does it occasionally and/or when he is stressed and/or if there’s another new boy dog around. He’ll need continued support and supervision and let outside often to do his business. He wears a belly band at night (it’s almost always dry in the AM) and sleeps in a dog bed. He tolerates a kennel for short periods but doesn’t love it, so someone home during the day would be best. His fluffy coat will require more than average grooming. Oreo can be fearful of new grabby hands, humans reaching over him, and fast movements towards him so only homes with children 12+ or no kids will be considered. We do not know how he is with cats but he is very herdy so cats are NOT recommended. Oreo is not a good fit for an apartment situation and requires a good sized fenced in yard where he can run around and he’ll still need appropriate daily exercise to keep him in good shape as he easily puts on weight. A herding breed experienced home would be best as he’s not a good option for a first time owner. He needs some time to settle and patience while he learns a new routine in a new environment with new people. He can be nervous and mouthy at first, but once he feels comfortable, he is very affectionate and cuddly. He should be told at least 10 times a day that he’s a good boy. If you are interested in meeting Oreo, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Oreo is neutered, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $450 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.  August 29, 2025, 1:20 pm
