Story
Ruth is a gorgeous little tidbit who weighs in at a whopping 8 pounds. She was loved all of her life and comes to DREAM after her human person passed away. She's no wallflower either. Fun and zesty, she's like your Aunt Carol who throws her weight around when she has no real authority. But, you know what? We like that about her. It means she's resilient, resourceful. (Aunt Carol is everyone's favorite, always.) Truth is, Ruth is a cuddlier. A lap. A blanket. A bed. Whatever is available Ruth will make herself at home and demonstrate the professional league, gold medal napper that she is. And she would like nothing more than you to join her! Ruthie is the sweetest little senior you could ever want. She loves and trusts every human she has ever met. It's instant tail wags whether you're a man, woman, child, or stranger. Ruthie likes people better than dogs. (She would prefer to be your one and only companion.) She is the unicorn of dachshunds - completely potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and a doggy-door professional. A perfect little lady who loves to cuddle! Won't you make Ruthie your bestie? That cataract in her left eye isn't painful and may affect her vision slightly, but when worse comes to worst, a blinged-out pirate patch would suit her personality just fine. Thankyouverymuch. Ruth would prefer to hold the title of Only Canine in the house. She knows who she is and knows what she wants-to be the only dog in the house. Interested in this middle-aged half-pint? Apply right online at our website. If you are interested in adopting Ruth, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Ruth's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Ruth will go to his / her new home microchipped, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Snoopy Cool is a very sweet little guy. He's got some dachshund but is in proprietary mix which may include: pug, beagle, terrier, and the like. 😀 Snoopy Cool loves people and is gentle & playful with other dogs. He has mastered the doggie door and is completely trustworthy with housetraining! Yowzers! Like his namesake from Peanuts, Snoopy Cool believes to live is to dance and to dance is to live-just substitute walk in for the dance part, 😉. He loves to take a tour around the neighborhood and does well on a leash. Snoopy Cool does love his people and isn't a fan of being crated or left alone so he would do best in home with other chill doggies and with people who are around most of the time. Older kids would work too if they are wanting a buddy to chill on couch kinda dog. If you are interested in adopting Snoopy Cool, you can fill out an application right on our website! Story
Maisy is a beautiful black and tan standard with a heart as good as gold. She is a tail wagger, a kisser and a lovebug extraordinaire. She came to us in dire need of bladder stone surgery, which we were able to have done immediately. It's a good thing we did because the vet removed THIRTY-THREE of those sharp and spiky buggers which had her in excruciating pain. Her foster mama says you'd never know she had the surgery now. Her 'recovery' is a word we use lightly since she is 100% back to normal and happy as a clam to be pain-freeeeeee. Maisy is a sponge for love, and she gives as good as she gets. We do think she needs to lose a few pounds to keep her at her best and most healthiest weight, but that will be easy with walks and playtime and not overfeeding her. Speaking of food, Maisy will need to be on a particular food for the rest of her life that will keep those kidney stones from forming. It's not a big deal at all, just like some of us are gluten-free or dairy avoidant. Maisy is a loving doggie who does well with other canines and older kiddos. If you are interested in adopting Maisy, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Maisy's adoption fee is $400. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Maisy will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Story
This little smallie is looking for her forever home and comes to DREAM from a local animal shelter after she was picked up stray. The shelter emailed and phoned her former owners, but they neglected to come and pick her up. So sad, but Coco is much better off now. Coco is a dignified little girl. She's not a lab, she's not going to be your bestie immediately. She's going to observe, to ponder. She's going to take her time revealing herself, and you know what? That's a-ok. There is so much joy in that - in learning about each other, in helping her heal from a life that was certainly not what we'd all want for our companions. She was abandoned, given up on - perhaps we'd all be a bit careful about who we give our hearts too, no? She's had all of her vetting, been to the beauty salon to get bathed and pampered and has settled in nicely to her foster home. Her foster mama gives her consistency, dependability and works toward helping Coco regain her faith in humans again. Coco is great about going potty outside when kept on a schedule. It's likely that she was an outside dog because of her condition when she came into rescue, and in light of that, we're really pleased with her progress. With consistency and patience, she'll continue to learn and grow. She enjoys slow walks and getting out into the world, and she also happens to be deaf. She's affectionate and likes this new life of inclusion and cuddles (on her terms), but due to her lack of hearing, she needs to see your approach versus being surprised (and accidentally spooked) by it. She's not destructive and does not chew things, thus she's not needed to be crated in her foster home. She'd do best in a quiet home without a lot of coming and going and frenzied energy. Can you provide this little lady with a safe and secure home? Can you allow her the times she needs to trust and regain her footing?
